You could have Rex Ryan be the new coach ..but no talent or lack of athletes and it doesn't matter who coaches lol
Really... Rex Ryan? lol. Could have at least used Bill Belichick. lol. But you are right. :) -
I'm sure scat was a good football player. I personally can not say if he was are not. Because I do not know him and it wouldn't be fair for me to say that he wasn't. My point I'm trying to make is that Larry Haynes is a great coach and unless you or scat really know him as a coach wouldn't it be unfair to say otherwise. Maybe there are a few areas he could improve on but over all the man is a very good coach
Yeah, we said he was good. lol. He ain't G.A. Moore. lol -
Scat doesn't have a clue he's probably never even stepped on a football field
Scat actually was a good football player at HD. He was a freshman when I was a senior. I agree with Scat, Haynes is a good Coach, just not great. If you want to entertain the crowd and score 40 points, you got your man. Just don't expect to be a playoff contender. -

Programs that have been great the majority of their existence. Not just a decade. Katy, South Lake Carroll, Celina, LaMarque and Lufkin. -

1. Katy: Eight undefeated seasons, 6 state championships, 80 percent playoff winning percentage, 33-game winning streak from 1997-1999. Katy's last losing season was all the way back in 1959. 2. South Lake Carroll: Southlake went 79-1 from 2002-2008 and won three consecutive state championship games, 7 total State Championships, and once had a 49-game win streak. 3. Celina: 8 State Championships and has won 70% of games. 4. LaMarque: 5 State Championships and won 71% of games. 5. Lufkin: Since 2000, the football team has gone 122-25, winning a State Championship in 2001. Very impressive considering the level of competition they play. -

Does anyone remember his stop in Hardin? Average at best, one good year I believe. Lumberton and Hardin football programs have both struggled over the majority of there existence. Both have won only 35-40 percent of their total all time games. So what do people really expect Haynes to do in Lumberton? ??? -

Today McNeese came down and talked to him.
Wish he would have stayed at Hull-Daisetta. Great kid and player, grew up with my brother.
He's been in Ned for a little while now, I've known him for about 5-6 years in Ned. Are you sure he's from Hull- D?
Yes, he played pee-wee football with my brother and went to elementary here at HD. I think junior high a year also. Good kid and family. Petey is what we called him in HD. -

Hardin will be improved for sure. There are some athletes on the Hornet team. I predict Hardin will beat WH, Tarkington and Liberty. Hardin just has a tough schedule.

Yes, SA has been good recently.
SA won the 2003 2A Div 1 State Championship! When did HD win one last? Nevermind, I just looked on the UIL website and it states that HD won it's ONLY state championship in football 34 years ago (1979) in class 1A.
Yes yall won a title in 2003. But look at your history, SA has won only 50% of it's games. Heck, in 2006 yall only had 1 win. In 2009 yall lost every game. lol. 2003 was earned and deserved, good job, it made folks quit laughing at your program. ;)
I'm not from SA. All I am stating is that HD's sucessful seasons were laced throughout the late 1930's to the late 1970's. Any success OTHER than last season for HD was the result of pretty much always being in a weak district, usually one and done when they did make the playoffs during the 90's- 2000's. I agree that SA is not really in the same class as Alto when it comes to being a consistently dominate ball club but IMO they are consistently better than HD. If HD had historically been placed in districts with teams the caliber of Alto, Garrison, Groveton, Corrigan Camden, SA, West Sabine, Joaquin, and Teneha then their win/loss record would not be what it is now and these are the teams that SA has grown up with in their districts throughout history. West Sabine was in hog heaven the years that they were able to play in the southern district.
HD has not always been in this district. HD has had the misfortune of losing early in playoffs to some great teams that went far in playoffs. Alto, Groveton and Grapeland to name a few, seems we always lost to a top 3 ranked team in state in first or second rd. HD has had some great teams in the 90's-current. HD has a bigger winning tradition than SA. -
HD wins their district. Alto wins their district. HD vs SA will be a good game... could be similar to last year's HD vs. Alto. I think HD advances this time. None of this matters though when they get to Mart. Region 3 will be the Mart show again
SA lost like 19 seniors. They will not challenge HD. HD would crush SA. -
The Colmesneil Bulldogs are returning a lot of seniors just like H-D. RB Cody Walsh and QB Matt Bailey can flat out play. Returning 14 seniors and a very talented Sophomore class, and also a new 285 pound monster/talented tackle, the Bulldogs could be a force to be reckoned with. Coach Johnson has this team in the hardest workout system in the state for sure..... It's gonna be a very good season for Colmesneil football.
Colmesneil lost a bunch of good players. Sanchez, Raines and the other RB are gone. Best chance of beating HD was last season. Very explosive team last season for Colmesneil.

Coach Finney has rekindled the fire and tradition for sure. HD has one of the most storied programs in Texas football. We needed him to wake up the sleeping giant. HD Nation!
C'mon Cat55! How many state championships has HD won in football that has help them write your "most storied programs" in Texas football? :o ::)
HD has won 4 State Titles. HD held the Nations Longest Winning Streak at 43 straight wins. HD has won 534 games, which is number 7 in Texas small schools. HD has won 63% of it's games. Along with way to many district championships. I would say Finney has rekindled a sleeping giant. ;) Please read and enjoy below. [Hidden Content]; [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

Good posts men. Coach Finney is not leaving HD any time soon. HD can and will continue to pay him his salary. I'm sure our opponents would love him to leave, wishful thinking. Coach Finney, Superintendent Mrs.Huckaby and Coach Huckaby are all very happy and having a blast. HD is gonna be loaded for years to come, lots of young talent coming up.
