Please help me out and give me your opinions. I had great Coaches growing up as a kid, most of them are now my friends. All Coaches have different styles and philosophies. We also all agree, Coaches want to win and be successful. I have noticed two different Coaching philosophies that stand out to me. First one is the Coaching philosophy of, I as Head Coach will play my most skilled, star studded players as much as possible and they never come off the field, only on special teams maybe. I sure as heck give them the ball on key critical downs. I feed them the ball early and often. I feel like with that philosophy you give your team and players a fighting chance to be successful and victorious all the time and especially on key critical downs. The second Coaching philosophy is the one that involves playing totally within a system, that is based heavily on rotating your players and keeping them fresh and healthy above all. With this system you are in a kind of russian roulette of sort, meaning if you have a 4th and 1, your best player (rb) will not always get the ball, it will be which ever one of your 3-4 backs is due to rotate in. In my opinion, the first philosophy works best, especially when facing bigger more talented schools. It means to have your best skilled players on the field at all times and give your team a fighting chance to succeed. Give that star player or players the ball early and often. With the second philosopy your 3rd string or 3rd best RB could be carrying the ball in a critical moment, how fair is that to the team, is that a fighting chance? Please guys, give me some feed back. I need your help. Thanks.

Is this Coach Tony Brown? He was my Coach at Hull-Daisetta for 3 seasons. I talked with him last year and visited with him. First I heard of this. I will pray and would like to visit him in hospital. He is a great man.

I remember playing against some good athletes from Deweyville. From 7th-12th grades I played against Logan Moore, Keith Pearl, Blake Buckston and RJ Hester. Still talk with a few of those guys. Good memories. I remember Levi Moore when I was a freshman, he was a beast. We did shut him down though.

I also witnessed this team working out saturday during my sons youth game in Hull Daisetta, and it looked like they were doing it on their own. [/quote]Yes, Coach Finney has redirected our football culture. Coach Finney has worked from day one to bring back the pride and tradition to HD. The Hull-Daisetta Bobcats will only get better every year under Finney. H-D will again be back on top soon.

HD will be facing a tough, scrappy and physical team in the Pirates. D-ville played a tough close game vs San Augustine. HD has played some bigger size schools and managed a 2-2 record. HD has to finish their long drives and not turn the ball over. D-ville will capitalize on turnovers and the game could get out of hand. HD has good size and hopefully will take advantage of that. I will say Espree and Redman both played great and stepped up big time. Great job guys. HD will win district and go deep in playoffs. HD has to work on finishing drives. Drake got ejected in the first, but Lavalais played the whole game.  He played on both sides of the ball.  He was bottled up running the ball, but played good defense.  Not sure why you are telling people that Lavalais didn't play.  HD almost got their butts whipped by a subpar Lovelady team.  If HD doesn't find some emotion, and some "want to", they might not even win this weak district.  I love the coaches, and agree that HD has enough talent to be a really good team, but the players aren't engaged.  Anyone who has been at the games can see their lack of interest.  They lollygag out onto the field, they lollygag between plays, no hustle, no passion, very little heart.  They have to correct this if they play to be competitive with the good teams on their schedule.  Face it 55, this is not the HD of old.  In order to get back to that, those players attitudes have to change drastically.  How to do that????  That's the million dollar question. [/quote]I do apologize for the bad info on Lavalais. I could not attend do to my turnaround project in Port Arthur. I had a "female" family member at the game that said she seen Lavalais down on the sideline early. Also I never heard them call his name but in the 1st quarter on the radio. I assumed he was hurt. Thanks for the info. I understand your emotions are running high and you expect more out of the Bobcats. I believe District play will be better. Good post by the way.

The hard work these boys put in during the off season and coming together as a team and wanting to rekindle that past tradition and pride.
