Kountze was sorry to see him go, he turned that program around. Coach Hodges is a family man, he left Kountze to put his kids first and take care of personal issues. Both the WOS offensive coordinator job and the Houston job were taken to be with his kids. Coach Hodges is a good man and a fine Coach. It was an honor to be Coached by him. Coach Stan Hodges would be a great fit for the Anahauc Panthers job. If Anahauc wants a playoff experienced and seasoned Coach. Coach Hodges has a State Championship ring and would get another with Anahauc.

Coach Finney has an overall record of 45-16. He totally turned around two 2-8 teams in Teague and Maud. His worst season with those two teams was 7-3. Three of his Maud players went on to start at TCU. Multiple district championships and playoff wins. All at the age of 32. I had the honor of having Coach Finney come by for a visit, he is very professional and down to earth. He has a formula for winning, his strength and conditioning program is on the D-1 college level. What is really awesome to see, is Coach Finney embracing the HD pride and tradition. He is truly proud to be here and help rekindle our winning tradition and excellence. Also the big strength of Coach Finney is to get our boys on the field. He already has 20 freshmen signed up to play football, Coach Finney will walk the hallways and driveways to get all our boys to play football. H-D will have a JV and alot more varsity players. Coach Finney told me that nobody, will out work or be in better condition than his team. Great man and Coach. H-D is back!

[/quote] Those 3 kids only played 2 years and they went 12-1 and 12-4...the other two years at Maud he went 7-3 and won district with kids that were very average. I know because my son was one of the average kids!!! But I am glad you brought up the 3 linemen that went to TCU...they were average till Finney instilled an incredibly tough off season and summer weight program...all 3 of them changed their body mass completely...they would have been average at best if they had not been through the "boot camp" that Coach puts the kids through...you will see a difference in a year but in two or three years is when you will see a huge difference...the kids will be much bigger, faster and quicker...just hide and watch!!! Tyler Drake (best player on team last year), Chris Taylor, Austin Edmondson, Garrett Hickman and Brady Ben are all good athletes and they will be all District. Tyler Drake is Mr. Touchdown(6 in one game) and may just be the District MVP this season. It will be interesting to see what offense Coach Finney will run. He has ran the I formation and the spread as of late. I really like the spread, it gives a defense fits.  H-D is moving in the right direction. Coach Finney is refurbishing the weight room and organizing a top notch strength and conditioning program for the off season.  He will offer a morning and an evening workout. He already has 20 freshmen signed up for football. This man has the formula to win. [/quote] Any direction would be an improvement over the last couple years, HD lost some good players off last years team and to be honest the game with Deweyville was not very competitive.  Without a infusion of better talent HD will struggle. [/quote]Every traditionally good program will have down or off seasons. H-D has always got back on track. This time will not be any different. Most schools would love to have H-D's wins over the last 4 years. But more is expected out of our football program, excellence is expected. The community has been let down the last few seasons. Make no mistake, H-D will be hardnosed and salty again!!  ;)

Had the honor of meeting with Coach Finney this afternoon. Very sharp and professional. Real down to earth and easy to talk to. H-D has not seen an off season program like this since Coach Skidmore was here. H-D will get back on track and soon. Coach Finney has a proven formula for winning and the H-D School board, along with the community leaders have bought into it. H-D is finally willing to spend some money and upgrade many things for our kids. Good job hiring committee, I was very skeptical at first. Good hire.
