H-D has had hundreds of awesome athletes that could have played for Eastern Dakota St. or where ever Stelly plays. Truth of the matter is, if you make good grades and are a serious worker in the weight room, you can play college football. Maybe not D-1, but you can play at an Eastern Alaska St. There just is not that many of those kids out there, Stelly is one.

My statement "I have not seen FOOTBALL played in Hardin" simply means, I have not seen a 3 dimensional Hardin team since 2000-2002. Which would be the last time Hardin had teams where they played Offense, Defense and Special teams and were extremely successful at all three of those aspects of the game. Has Hardin has good defenses and offenses since? Yes. But not at the same time, on one team. Pay attention to Hardin football better, or do not comment on this thread if you aren't familiar with the history of the program.
Hardin had size and talent back then but skill players were being played out of position. Dont think they were any better or worse than the 2007/2008 team. Depth is always a problem and Hardin was not 3 dimensional in 2000-2002, they were good and if they hadn't blown a lead over Garrison they would most likely won a state championship that year. Garrison went on to blow everybody else out. Harrison Gray sat on the sidelines when he should have seen some time on defense as a safety or linebacker too much talent to waste. If Larry Haynes had that team who knows what numbers they could have put up with those skill kids. I think it seems like it because some of the young men that graduated last year have played skill positions the last couple years. I was at the Kelly Scrimmage and kelly looked good, we did not. Taylor is a good q/b , we got some talent at the wide out positions and Ogden is a good RB whenever they run it. Haynes Offense is going to score, well see about the defense. But make no mistake about it if was a H-D vs Kelly Scrimmage the Bobcats wouldn't have faired any better. Hornets get the best of this one.
Being from neither HD, Hardin, or Kelly and having 2 of the 3 schools on our schedule, I saw this scrimmage and I think your giving Kelly too much praise and not taking enough away from Hardin. Kelly did not look all that great, the qb was throwing terrible passes but Hardin's secondary simply couldn't make a play, and Kelly's o-line was fairly small but the backs were able to make the defense miss, If the Bobcats can hit, I say they fair better against Kelly because besides the interior linebacker and running back position Kelly looked weak as well, it was just the fact that Hardin looked weaker, remember Kelly is a team who was winless in district last year.
Dang !! :o
I think West Hardin's team is focused. And they looked good Friday. They will be able to play with any opponent they face. Not sure that H-D is a major concern at this point.
No secret your not from WH or H-D. WH is always a concern for H-D. Heated rivalry, biggest game of the year !! ???

The only way I could tell the difference in JV and varsity was the colors of their jerseys, then I still had to look at faces to determine which was which. Could be a long year, but I assure you they'll give it all they got, especially against HD. Always has been a good rivalry.
Players may be small but Hardin has the depth to keep everyone fresh. H-D doesn't have the numbers to back that.
From what I saw when Hardin scrimmaged Kelly they weren't very deep at all, there starters looked like they could barely get the job done, but I think the fact that they spread the ball around and have a few guys who can go get it will give them an upper hand on HD based on the fact that HD is such a small school and they don't have many athletes to drop into coverage, but Hardins defense look really weak and I know HD has some kids who can run the ball so i'm sure theyll get some work done on the offensive side of the ball.
Actually H-D has a really strong secondary, with some of our best athletes at corner. Secondary is one of our strengths.

Although I feel like H-D's top 5 players are way more dominate than Hardin's. Tyler Drake, Austin Edmondson, Garrett Hickman, Chisholm Marberry and Chris Taylor. H-D has 11 really athletic kids out of their 30 players. H-D wins this scrimmage. ;)

Parents pay good money toward tuition for their kids to play and get educated. Funny how all their basketball players are 6'4 to 6'7, "but they don't recruit". I can sell you some ocean front property in California.
It's a shame that high school interscholastic sports makes some folks this cynical.
;D

Well... dang it was hot. Scrimmage went well, no injuries for any team. H-D and WCA were the two best teams by far. H-D started off against WCA, both offenses were moving the ball. WCA has a Michael Vick type running QB(TAPPS schools can recruit players) that is very fast and athletic, he ran wild on H-D for 2 TD's and threw for 1 TD. WCA likes to spread you out with 4-5 wideouts and let their QB run wild. H-D had a long TD run by Tyler Drake, against WCA on a counter play from the Wing T Formation. Both defenses need work. H-D dominated HI & SP on both sides of the ball, scoring 3 TD's to 0 against both teams. Garrett Hickman and Tyler Drake looked the sharpest in H-D's first scrimmage. Good job Bobcats !!

Very, very cool !! Congrats PNG on being honored. Yall have a great football tradition. I love my Hull-Daisetta Bobcat tradition, but I have come to see PNG has an awesome tradition also. So cool to see. I will bring my 11 year old son to watch a PNG game this season. Can't wait !! I wonder if Hull-Daisetta was mentioned at the museum? I grew up hearing about the great traditions at PNG, WOS, Newton and Hull-Daisetta. So special. :) -
