3. Yeller thanks for the post. It's Andy Tanner not Tammer. Also I see Gilmore got 1st team RB, but got nothing at linebacker. Come on !!! Got to be a typo.
4.
Congrats to the Bobcats on a good season through a lot of adversity. I was very proud to be a Bobcat seeing that yall continued to play hard for 48mins even when u were down. Great experience for the underclassman, and for the seniors just know that u lost to a state championship calibur team. PS: TRAM, their stud running back DID play. It was a kick returner who was also one of the starting WR's in their spread offense. There JV took the field in the 4th qtr, and by that point HD was letting a bunch of our JV kids get experience in the game as well.
Yes Lovelady's starting RB played. And both teams played some of their second string in the 4th quarter. H-D moved the ball on the ground pretty good at times. #35 Gilmore played hard and ran over some of Lovelady's players, like #55 Gilmore ran over on the kickoff. If Lovelady comes to our District, they better bring it. H-D is stacked with young talent for the next 4 years. Besides the last two years H-D owns this District.
5. How did Evadale score? Was backup defense in?
6. Anahuac is one of the fastest teams in this area. Panthers have way to much speed for K-VILLE. Ford will have a blow out. Panthers upset K-VILLE 28-21.
7. Way to fight Bobcats, we may have lost to the State Champs this year. Lovelady has won most of their games 40-0. No shame. Keep your heads up. I seen them ranked #1 in some polls. They played like a #1 team.
8. Bobcats it's almost time !!! Tomorrow night baby !!! The pressure is on Lovelady not us. Hit'em in the mouth !!! Go Bobcats !!
9.
Hey Fan Thought you might get a kick out of this. I was looking back at an early season thread about this years 23A Football predictions and the closest thing I could find to anyone, including myself, picking the Bulldogs to be in the playoffs was a post you made about the numbers in the weight room this past summer. There were plenty of picks for Evadale and HD, but it split about WH, HI and even Chester as the third team. When 2010 rolls arouond be sure you pick the Dogs to finish near the top of your district. In Evadale we have found that this winning thing gets to be something that you really get to like and success breeds more success. Just letting you know I will be picking the Dogs high when the 2010 predictions hit the web.
Actually I  picked Colmesneil to get in the playoffs. I said H-D, Evadale and Colmesneil during scrimmage time.
10.
Bottom line here is Evadale can win this game. Coach Slack invited me in to give the pre-game speech last year when HD played Mart and one of the things I emphasized is not being intimidated at all, and hitting them in the mouth from the opening whistle. They boys from Mart know how to win playoff games and they expect to win. That's a mindset that comes with tradition and attitude that is developed over years of experience and success. To the Rebel players, just remember, they put their cleats on one foot at a time just like you guys, they're just regular old kids from the country just like you guys are. Don't hesitate or do anything different than you've done all season long, just be even more hyped up and relentless than you were when you played HD and Colmesneil this year. Althleticism and mistakes will play a factor in the final score, but if you make a mistake, make it going 100mph and play with reckeless abandon. Mart got the better of HD last year, but not many people know the whole story, they just saw the final score. At the end of the first quarter, Mart had ran 4 plays for a total of 3 yards. They scored on a punt return, then on a short field after we fumbled the insuing kickoff. After we put together another long drive, on 3rd and 12 they completed a long pass down to the one and punched it in. We turned the ball over on downs just before halftime, and they scored on a fake field goal with :13 seconds left til halftime. The second half, just like the first quarter was a stalemate. In the end, they made enough plays and capitilized on HD's mistakes to win the game, and took that momentum on to a state championship game appearance. I personally don't think this year's Mart team is as good as last season, and that Evadale can beat them, if they play mistake free football. Good luck Rebels and as other's have said, make district 23-A proud. Whether we want to admit it or not, most of the folks down in Hull-Daisetta are pulling for you guys!! P.S. On another note, Coach Nail and his coaching staff, players, and the fans of Mart were nothing but class last year. Very respectful group of folks. I saw Mart back in the Cosby boy's days in 2A and against EC and they were a little less than perfect class. I think that is gone and you will see nothing but class from Mart this Friday.
Good post HD9. My 9 year old son and I were fortunate to be standing there with HD9 as he gave the pre game speech. It was special for my son to be apart of that atmosphere, he will never forget it. What a playoff memory. One day my son will be the player in the locker room. Can't wait !! Enjoy every second of the playoffs boys. Seems like yesterday HD9 and myself were standing under the Friday night lights in the playoffs. Evadale yall are a special bunch of boys. 10-0 play your hearts out. Good luck and represent 23-1A.
11. I want to let the Seniors on the team know how awesome it was to watch yall play ball and mature into young men. This season was very tough and the team has went through many hardships. But no matter what, yall will never forget playing under the Friday night lights and being a Bobcat. The older you get the more you will want to play again. So you Seniors go out there Thursday night in Conroe and play your hearts out, leave it all on the field and give it all you got. Embrace the cool playoff air and live in the moment. Observe the crowd and the Stadium and the brother hood you have built with your teammates. Lay it all on the line. I believe we can win this game. We still have the blood line of the legendary Monsters of the Big Thicket that won 43 straight games, we still have the tradition and the pride the four horseman and the 1979 State Champs built for us. Seniors it's time, time to play your hearts out. Reality says only the winner advances in the playoffs, but the person who gives it his all and has no regrets will always advance in life. Go Bobcats !!! Seniors are Jo Jo Walker, Jakarie Samuel, Jacolby Humphrey, Tim Taylor, Dominic Kudro, Tully Melonson, James Mangum, Brian Dempsey, Pat Roth, Colby Henry, Dustin Morrow, Seth Traywick, and Andy Tanner.
12. If the Dogs can beat Riesel, they may go all the way to the State semi finals. There is no great powerhouse standing in their way in that bracket. Good luck Dogs.
13. Last year before H-D played Mart in the playoffs, everyone from outside the District said Mart would blowout H-D like 60-0. Well H-D actually made it a game, Bobcats fell 28-0. Total yards and first downs was about the same. Special teams and turnovers was what hurt us. Evadale just keep doing what yall been doing and good luck.
14. I just want to mention some of the legendary Bobcats that played during the 43 game winning streak. Chuffy Duty, Hubert Taylor, Junior Johnston, Fritz Rogers, Clayton Biggs, Bethel Davis, Joe Boothe, Frank Rowell, Ray Pietre, Warren and William Clark, Curley Strawn and Curtis Barrett. You men were not just Friday night heroes, most of you beloved Bobcats gave the ultimate sacrifice for your Country. Thanks for the tradition and the Freedom. You men will never be forgotten.
15. This write up makes me so proud to be a Hull-Daisetta Bobcat. All the wins, all the titles, all the fans, all the pride, all of the blood, sweat and tears. Thank God I am a Hull-Daisetta Bobcat !!!
16.
You know I gotta take up for Checkmate a lil on this one. I re-read what he posted, and honestly it wasn't that bad. In all reality, there's a lot of truth to what he says and it's just his opinion. I dont' know if we have the weakest 1A district in the state, but from top to bottom, we're not that strong. Bottom line is, until one or two of our teams start winning a playoff game or two, we will be labeled with that reputation around the state. Just like the folks from Newton and Kirbyville always look past the Anahauc/EC/Buna folks and prepare to take on the Arp's and Dangerfield's of Region III 2A fame. When a couple of those teams go a couple rounds deep in the playoffs for a couple years, that will no longer be the case. I'm from HD, and we were a consistant playoff team through-out the 80's and 90's. Problem was that we always ran into Alto, Groveton, Mart, Garrison or Grapeland in the playoffs in the first round, and that was it for us. We dropped down to 1A and low and behold, look who all followed us down to the 1A ranks. Hull-Daisetta, Evadale, Colmesneil, and the rest of 23A have to stepup and win some playoff games, and we all have the opportunity in a few days. I wasn't blown away with Mart last year when HD played them, and I felt like Groveton was tougher the previous two playoff years. With that being said, the Panthers rolled all the way to the State Championship game. Mart is just like any other team and Evadale does have a chance of winning, no doubt. They are not indestructable by any means. The Bobcats have to face a 11-0 wrecking ball in Lovelady and odds are it won't be pretty, but ya know what, that's why they play the games. I personally feel like Colmesneil has the best chance of winning in the 2nd round. With the teams in Div I this year, they have a shot of going all the way honestly. If they win 2 games, their in the state semifinals, 3 wins gets them in the state championship game, and 4 wins = State Title. Good luck to all three teams in 23A and I hope you all play your hearts out and leave it all on the field. The better team will win, and everyone will live to fight another day. My honest prediction: Evadale - 19 Mart - 37
Great post Beezy.
17.
Did we forget that this is all about the kids! We get to come on SETX and talk about our teams for one simple fact and that is because our KIDS play the games. Do I believe that the Rebels will win on Friday...YES I DO. Will I kick all of them under the bus if they don't...NO I WON'T! None of us get to pick the district that we are in we are just assigned one. Schedules are made for two years in a row with a home and home format. The coaches will set those schedules mostly on the day that realignment comes out. If you have a really clear crystal ball you might be able to predict what kind of team that a school might have next year, but you never know for sure and there is no way to tell what a team will be like in two years when you play the second game of the two. Our kids play who they are told to play. Evadale did not get to pick who they get to play in the playoffs. Would we choose someone else, maybe, but have you looked at our part of the bracket. If you are the regional champion in this region then you are a bunch of studs. I won't call anyone names, and if your opinion on the outcome is different than mine so be it. I know that a group of young men in Evadale did something very special over the past 11 weeks and nothing will take that away. We all would like to add another state championship momument in front of the school gym, but even if we don't I will remain a "Proud Rebel" and will come on this site to sing their praises for hard working players, coaches and fans. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Good post Yeller. We need more fans like you. Go get'em Rebs.
18. Well Friday night Italy jumped out on top of Lovelady 14-0. Lovelady came back and at the half it was 24-14 Lovelady up. Final score was Lovelady 52-21 over Italy. Lovelady is an awesome team and they do not panic when they are behind. But anything can happen under the Friday night lights. Go Bobcats !!
19.
I'm thinking this is how the new district may look....: Colmesneil Hull-Daisetta West Sabine West Hardin Shelbyville San Augustine
Cool. Keep us up too speed. Thanks.
20.
I have been quiet for some time now but will have to wey in on this one.  I dont appreciate the 50-6 comment.  Especially the "not even close".Maybe they wont win. But it will be closer than 50-6. I know I am bias (my son plays for HD)the same son who blocked #6 from Burkeville into the ground when he tried to make that tackle on the first play of the HD vs Burkeville game and probably injured his shoulder a little before Gilmore ran him over in the second quarter and he stopped all that dancing he was doing prior to the opening kickoff. The Bobcats will do better against the Lions than the Mustangs did against the Bobcats.  No one will score 50 points against the Bobcats.
Good post.
