Best football player in 23-1A ?
H-D BOBCAT 55 replied to H-D BOBCAT 55's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Lets not forget how difficult of a season H-D has had. H-D lost 4 starters for the season due to injuries in preseason. All together H-D lost 8 players on the season. Keith Gilmore was the main target to stop every week, most of his help on the field was freshman and sophomore players. Considering H-D's hardships and they still make the playoffs, way to go Bobcats not sure many teams could have pulled that off. I believe Keith Gilmore is by far the best football player in this District. Also Coach Slack should be considered for Coach of the year in our District for pulling through all the injuries and making the playoffs. -

Why is everone so SCARED of Angleton?
H-D BOBCAT 55 replied to TexAgNDN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Does Angleton have a winning football tradition? Never heard of them being a powerhouse in the past. I know PNG has a great winning tradition. Around the triangle many of our teams have winning traditions, like WOS, PNG, Newton, Hull-Daisetta and many others. -
EVADALE VS. COLMESNEIL!!! PREDICTIONS????
H-D BOBCAT 55 replied to xsv010's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well Colmesneil, Evadale feels pretty confident their defense is gonna shut yall down. Lots of posts about it. Evadale seems to cocky and may have the big head. Just read the posts about how great their defense is and how they are gonna shut the Bulldogs down. Colmesneil just keep doing your thing. Yall have a very talented team. Good luck to both schools and I hope the players stay healthy. -

They only have two loses on the season to West Sabine and Carlisle. Looks like Carlisle could make the playoffs. This Bulldog team has been under rated all season and teams have looked past them week after week. I believe Colmesneil will win their first District Championship since the 1960's. Bulldogs are back !!! Looks like my H-D Bobcats will play highly State ranked Lovelady in the playoffs. Some polls have them as the #1 1A team in State. Lovelady in undefeated this season and just steam rolling everyone they face. This won't be the first time H-D was picked to lose in the playoffs against a high ranking team. Remember Troup and China Springs in 1979. GO BOBCATS !!!

If HD gets there offense going it will be a good game. If they just run that jet sweep against them like they did us friday night i think they will come away with the victory. But u have to take account for the big #6 on burkeville's defense i think he will be in the backfield all night long making tackles also #2 is the defensive end and he is a quick kid i think he has the ability to shut down the outside running game. both #6 and #2 is great athletes just like Gilmore on HD. Its gonna be a hard fought game. But HD has nothing to worry about cause they already made playoffs. But i know that`Burkeville isn't gonna give up and neither is HD. Good luck to both teams. No injuries. HD-18 Stangs-12
Good post 21.

Colmesneil is the real deal. Colmesneil scored 36 points on a good H-D defense. Most of the year their offense has been great. Colmesneil has alot of speed and I believe they will win District. Colmesneil is the biggest school in District and maybe their numbers helped them win a District Championship. I knew it was a matter of time before Colmesneil would be competitive. I think the next 4-5 years Colmesneil,Evadale and H-D will be the three studs in our District. Colmesneil 28 Evadale 12 -
i agree neither team really really dominated anyone. there were only two good offensive drives in the whole games HD's was when they drove the ball down to the 2 and their runningback fumbled, that drive WH couldn't stop them they just got lucky that the back fumbled, and for WH it was their 80 yard scoring drive that came off of that fumble other than that neither team look impressive on offense because WH could move the ball and kept giving HD great field position and then HD could score on that great field position
H-D moved the ball up and down the field all night. Just did not punch it in the endzone. Were yall at the game? H-D ran that power sweep at will. Our O-line dominated. Just look at total yards, H-D had like triple the total yards as WH. Hands down dominated. Score could have easily been 28-6 H-D. And yes it was one of the best hard fought games I have ever seen. Beating your rival on an overtime touchdown, priceless !!! -
WH should have won this game if it wasn't for that one snap over the punters head that gave HD the ball on the ten i don't believe HD would have scored
If If If !!! What about our fumble through the endzone for a touchback. H-D dominated !! -
H-D missed several scoring opportunities, Bobcats were in the redzone many times and did not capitalize. Bobcats moved the ball all night on offense, against a good defense. Total yards was big time in H-D's favor. WH got there 1st first down with 7 min. left in 2nd quarter. The H-D Coaching Staff called a heck of a game, and the H-D players showed so much heart. Great job Bobcats, way to work. This has been a tough season with so many injuries and hardships. We are proud of all of you. Playoffs here we come. WH yall worked hard and played a good tough game. This was one of the best games I have ever seen. The rivary lived up to the hype. Bobcats take care of Burkeville next week, they are on the rise. GO BOBCATS !!!
??? i have a question H-D BOBCAT 55. wasnt that saying, "Loved by some, Feared by most, Respected by all...", on the back of Sabine Pass's Basketball Playoff shirts from last year??? ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Don't know. They may have stole it from H-D. We started saying that after we won State in 79.
I'll be coming through Daisetta for this one! I dont think it is time yet to call these two teams "has beens" in this district. As far as I can tell, WH has never been anything in this district and that goes all the way back to their battles with HD in 2A. This is HD's district until Evadale wins more than one championship. Look for the Bobcats to be back at the top next year. Until then, I'll enjoy this small school rivalry tonight!
Well said Rebel. Very true. People love seeing H-D take some lumps, since we have always been on top. So many injuries this season. The next 5 years H-D is gonna be stacked !!! GO BOBCATS !!!

Don't forget their playing at the swamp !! H-D has an awesome home field advantage. H-D's all-time winning percentage at home is outstanding. Also H-D has one of the nicest natural grass fields in Texas, this is gonna be a barn burner !!! There want be anyone home at 7:30 in WH or H-D, everyone will be at the game. I wonder how many people will actually be at the game? It's gonna be loud !!! GO BOBCATS !!! H-D 26 WD 7
HD has a few "play makers" on the team this year. But the whole team has to make plays at their own position for any "play maker" to make plays. That's why you play with 11 guys, if every guy does their job you are most likely going to win. The bobcats need this game to give themselves a chance to be .500 before the playoffs start, but if they lose the best they can be is 4-6. Come on cats!
Like I said, the rest of the team needs to be the support and win at their respected positions. Gilmore is our best playmaker, give him the dang ball !!! No reason why Gilmore should not have 20 carries for 100 yards and two TD's running between the tackles. Run the Humphrey's in motion on a fake reverse every time, to prevent WH from over pursuing. When they do over pursue give the Humphrey's the ball on some reverses. I Bet yall big target Andy Tanner will be open over the middle all night on playaction off of Gilmore. WH's linebackers will be coming all night trying to stop Gilmore. Go Bobcats !!! Love my Madden !!!
Well said hd09. I hope they will play as a team and quit worrying about who is this and who is that and that as one they can beat any team they face. If they learn to play as one they are better than anyone in the district and can beat WH. You continue to preach team to them and help them from where you are and maybe they can take some of your heart and spread it around.
Yes playing as a team is important, and having heart is key. Also every good team has a play maker, good teams get the ball to that play maker. Just like the 1979 State Champs played as a team, they also had a few play makers and got the ball to them. H-D has a play maker on their team this year and his number is 35. The rest of the team needs to have his back and be the support. I believe they will do that. Go Bobcats !!!
Neither team has an awesome offense. But i have to say that WH has a better defense than HD. I think this will be an defensive game. All WH has to do is keep Gilmore accounted for at all times and as long as they hit him in the mouth he will lay down. I say that WH comes out on top on this heated rivalry showdown. WH-8 HD-0
Gilmore is a beast and will never lay down !!! The kid has been under used all season and has not layed down. I have seen Gilmore play hurt, he has alot of heart. The kid is a football player, he just makes plays. If we use Keith Gilmore right, it will open things up for the speedy Humphrey brothers. H-D has some brake away speed on offense with the Humphrey boys and Jo-Jo. Gilmore is a power runner with football speed, meaning he runs well in pads. He has deceptive speed.
-
This is a heated rivalry that goes way back. When your playing for bragging rights plus a playoff spot, watch out for a great game from start to finish. I agree WH has a good defense and will be swarming to the ball all night. H-D has alot of speed on both sides of the ball. The one advantage that H-D has is having one of the best players in District Keith Gilmore. If the Bobcats give the ball to Gilmore like they finally did last week, the Bobcats should win. I hope the Bobcats are healthy this week, last week we had alot of players on the sideline in street clothes. Maybe Tyler Drake will be back this week, has anyone heard how serious his injury is from two weeks ago? Drake is an awesome freshman player that I love to watch play. Go Bobcats !!! H-D 26 WH 7
