When Tubbs met with CUSA 2 years ago, I was thinking no way. Today, CUSA is made up of schools just like Lamar. It would be mad awesome to restart that Lamar/La Tech rivalry again. Lamar, Tech, Tulane, UTSA, Rice, UNT, would put lots of traveling fans into each other stadiums and arenas because of the driving distant.
im all for being in a conference with those schools..but ill believe it when i see it... 8)

i want to win..i wouldn't care if we played D-3 football...i want to win! and right now we don't win...we need to go 10-2, 11-1, or 12-0 every year regardless of division... personally i enjoy playing SHSU, SFA, and McNeese cause i have friends that attended all of these schools and talking smack with them is something i look forward to....if we ever go FBS i hope we can continue to play these teams...but i wont be disappointed if we stay in FCS...as long as we WIN!!! However i will be disappointed if we go FBS and go 5-7, 4-8, or 3-9 every year.

i want my alma mater to win football games too! and right now we dont! my only concern, if we do go fbs, is getting big time recruits to come to lamar so we can compete..i know some lamar athletes personally and they've told me that beaumont, texas is hard to sell to young talented athletes...this is their words not mine..they said beaumont is boring.
Big Ned has 7 starters returning on both sides of the ball. These are full time starters. Lost 2 running backs, center and left tackle on offense. defense lost one defensive end, outside linebacker, CB and safety. Lost some good backups too. the replacement they have in mind look good and should fill in quite nicely. Just curious how many of WOS returning starter should actually be in college or at least graduated( i.e. 19 or 20 year olds).
-

wish my teachers in high school looked that good 8) -
coldspring is NOT overrated...they played a pretty tough BC team and had to grind it out on defense for the win. thats what good teams do...find ways to win 8)
Actually, if you remember correctly, our defense knocked the WOS starting QB out of the game. We were shutting the veer down up until that point. Well, unfortunately for us the WOS backup came in and seemed to ignite that offense. Yeah, our left guard had a neck injury that day. He was fine, just had to wear a neck brace for a couple of weeks. I played OT and DT. I normally just played offense, but one of our starting DT's reaggravated an arm injury, and I had the pleasure of going both ways for a while and trying to figure out that zone blocking scheme. The offensive line for WOS was definitely a strong point for that team. Actually, that whole team was tremendous. Our coach had us so hyped up for that game, that I really did not notice how big those guys were until I watched the film the next day. They looked like a freaking college team. It was a beautiful day. Do you remember how we drove the ball down the field on our first offensive field in like five plays only to get stuffed twice on 3rd and 4th down from inside the one yard line? I still think that we should have went play action on that third down....
u are absolutely correct..dwayne evans,if i remember correctly, was the quarterback that got hurt during that game...then james reed came in and started the rest of the season all the way to the state championship game against mckinney....wos had some size in those days..of course we were a decent sized 4A school in those years..over 1000 students.....amazing when i think about it how we went from 5A all the way to 3A. no i dont remember about u guys driving down the field on your first offensive series i just remember it being close. its interensting how we all we remember different things about that day.. 8)

so how bout u? got any inside details of things happening on the field that day? what postiion did u play? yeah i remember it being close for a while...brenham was good that year...it was the second round of the playoffs i believe
Well thanks for reminding me how OLD I am getting by telling me that you were in the fourth grade at the time. LOL! Yeah, the final score was 23-7. It was tied at 7-7 midway through the third quarter. WOS had dropped down from 5A that year and was VERY good. At that time they ran that old school Houston veer with split backs. Yep, we did wear solid green that day, and had green helmets with paws on them. We had a solid team that year, but WOS was just too much to handle.
sorry about that, lol...yup the old veer...i loved watching that offense back then...we had two really good backs then brian cleveland and scottie littleton...i think someone from brenham got seriously hurt that day and they had to get the paramedics to come on the field..i remember because we were in the stands yelling at the paramedics to hurry up and help the player..i also remember that it was a beutiful sunny day...it was the first time i had ever been to huntsville that day...

im very surprise with the reaction of some of our mustang fans...were are 3-3 on the year and 1-0 in district...so the sky is not falling...of course we are having offensive issues...but what everyone needs to understand is change is never easy...we lost a coach who had been at wos for 30 years...u dont just replace someone like that overnight...cornel thompson is a great coach and i beleive he is the right man for the job of the mustang head coach right now.. but he is not dan hooks...that era is over..wonderful memories of that era but its over and we have to move on. if we just keep living in the past we will never see in the present and what we have to work on right now...coach hooks had some pretty first tough years at wos too..my parents tell me how when we went 3-7 in 83 everyone was ready to run coach hooks out of town..but he persevered and thank goodness the school district didnt get rid of him...also new OC, toby was a great offensive coordinator but he has moved on to another school...regardless of the circumstances as to why he left..he is not at wos anymore and thats the bottom line..we have to move on also... i think, IMO, that the mustangs are just going thru some growing pains with all the changes...its unfortunate but we have to go thru them..how we respond to the pressure is what will decide if we are going to continue to be great or just become like any ordinary football team out there...give cornel thompson a chance to build on whats already a great program and give him a chance to leave his own mark of greatness that we can be proud of when we look back in the years to come.

Hamshire-Fannett vs. West Orange-Stark Game Thread/WO-S wins!
WOS95 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
hamshire has improved...i know their record doesnt indicate it..but they really came to play tonight....receivers #84 and #1 played great games for HF....and wos just looked out of sync the whole night...defense had oppurtunities to make at least 3 picks and dropped them all... offense cannot keep turning the ball over and expect to be successful...the longhorns made the plays that kept it close, got to give them credit...wos better wake up and start finding a way to be more focused in these ballgames. -
i will end this..it was me booing actually...sorry :P

Lamar at South Alabama Updates
WOS95 replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
man all these coaches on here..lamar should just put a laptop on the sideline...and logon to setxsports and let all these coaches on here make all the play calls..just have someone on the sideline relay the plays in..it would save lamar a lot of money ;D -
