Actually Bluedove, that is the answer, and was back in the day, and has not changed. The problem is the parents of today don't take care of their kids problems early....Do it , let them know who is in control and let them know when they are wrong, and the key is ...don't let them forget! They will be better for it in the long run. Some parents tend to live through their kids. When this happens kids get spoiled, don't learn humility and become chronic whiners, soft sometimes and think someone owes them something......Not Good....Recipe for ...FAILURE !!!! -

AAU...good for some kids, and not so good for others. If the individual kid can understand it is a way for him to gain exposure for the next level, BUT only for that purpose, it can be a positive experience. The problem occurs when the kid can't handle the attention, becomes selfish, cocky, and his h.s. experience becomes lackluster. Some kids worry about the next level, but forget about the level they are in. Work habits suffer and the importance of their high school team becomes minimal....i've seen it and it is sad because what happens is the kid becomes satisfied where their skill level is, and as you know ,you do not stay the same, you either get better or worse. What happens next??? The kids who were not as good at one time have stayed hungry and passed the "AAU" kid up...and it is over, the kid wondered what happened and everyone saw it coming, but HIM. The kid then moves on to the city leagues and becomes a stud......the problem??? WHO CARES...Not that AAU scout or coach !!!! -

Actually, i'm glad Dickie responds on here, and quite often...keeps the board alive and if we agree or disagree, well someone smater thatn we is making a little $$$$$. but that does'nt matter as long as we can tlk about the one thing we allllll have in common....HOOPS!!!! -
that is usually the problem in the playoffs, after u have used bmt chapter all year. The bmt chapter allows teams to be more aggressive than alot of the other chapters. So when teams go outside the chapter the same thing that was not called in district is called with other chapters. In my opinion that hurt central. I wish the bmt chapter would start calling the hand checking, and all the other things like that. It was very easy to tell the different refs for (the dayton lcm playin game). All the fouls that bmt would not have called where being called by the other chapter. And in my opinion they where the correct calls.

WOW....Nominated for Mc D.'s All-American.......T. Thomas equals WINNER!!! Team Leader, Great Character, Hard Worker, Humble, Unselfish, and then receive some individual attention...it's the right way to do it and maybe enough to deserve the honor....Why are we giving out recognition for the future potential that some kids possibly have??? Go and earn it....The problem lies with the kids first, but we do not help the situation any when somebody nominates a player based on how good he might possibly be.....One of the very first qualifications should be , is to actually play in High School the year the award is given...Seems pretty simple! -
1/18 vidor defeated silsbee 8-2 pitchers for vidor where maxwell and armstrong
-
dickie remember i never said central was not passionate. I just said u can judge passion
-
if i wanted to talk about couples, i would talk with my girl. It is very easy to tell which team or players is more passionate. Sorry. Dickie 50 people in a marching band and u are the only one out of step. I have a feeling that u blamed it on the other 49, claiming u where the one who was not out of step
-
sure you can judge passion. There are always players on ever team that play with more passion than the next. There are always teams that play with more passion than others. To me passion is very easy to tell.
-
yes not doing what you are told, like boxing out is a sign of being un-disciplined. Becuase sooner or later, u will face another superior athlete, and the one who is more disciplined will probally win. Not always, but most of the time. In my opinion.
-
yes discipline from the casual observer can be executing...but most of the time I notice shot selection, sticking to a game plan once one has figured it out...for example, if a team is going to play man and deny certain kids and not others, and if boxing out occurs on a regular basis, if kids behave like they are supposed to and not whining about calls, but just simply playing the game. If a team breaks a press with the pass and does not try to dribble through it if they can not do so. maybe if a team makes the x-tra pass when called for or a team punches it inside if there is a height advantage, and then goes to the peremiter like Ozen did when they had " The Lottery at one time " kid...... just a few examples...Passion maybe the easiest to see though.....Duke is a great example..Playin hard and being excited about it is passionate, but like last night , does not mean VICTORY....
