NEDERLAND BULLDOG CLASSIC/POST UPDATES HERE!
glassjoe replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
No but some older kids finally got some minutes together. Their ability to penetrate and get to the rim or kick out for a bucket seemed to spark the run. And that group was able to play pressure defense. They brought the game from a 19 point deficit to within 1. I imagine that group will start seeing more minutes as the season moves along. -
H-F is a solid team. Backup Q is a pretty salty kid. Yes Morris is the horse and a gamer, but they play outstanding Defense and have a few playmakers that play with Morris pretty well. Losing him would dent the Horns for sure but I would not think they lose this one without him.
-
That is because HF JV beat Silsbee JV.
-
touche'. and no.
-
Maybe. I cant argue that, But Silsbee is not Newton. HF has a brand new program all the way through. I do not think they have a loss at any level this season. HF JV gave Newtons JV their first loss last week. Not comparable and I understand that. Silsbee will lose Friday and take 3rd behind HF.
-
Yes Newton and WOS have speed like EC. Just letting it be known that HF can play speed just fine. Santa is obsessed with HF playing Kountze and Silsbee Playing Newton. BTW I believe Newton and WOS were both Ls for Silsbee. So his point is not valid. HJ played perfect for the first and only time all year against HF with the slot T. They had 0 turnovers that game. I think they fumbled 4 times against Silsbee. May have been caused fumbles which gives props to silsbee. BUt there is your difference in scoring. More possessions, which amounts to a difference in game when playing a slot T offense. Liberty game was HF giving up 2 back to back Onside Kicks with 6 mins. left in the game. Cost HF possessions and gave points to Liberty. Score was 34-10 at that point. HF definately has to play perfect, clean football to win. But HF can absolutely win this game.
-
I hope the silsbee kids are sleeping as well. EC has more speed than anyone silsbee has faced. Yes our Q is good, but HF has faster kids than Morris. This is not a slow team. You re looking at the comparison all wrong. Silsbee has given up 38 pts in common apponents and HF has given up 42. Little closer than what you would like im sure. 12 of Libertys points came in the final 6 mins of the game. Busted play, reversed field twice and squirted around the end. And they recovered 2 OS kicks. Keep snoring. That schedule was put together by the last AD 2 years ago. I would bet that after re alignment HF will be playing a better schedule. See you friday.
-
Lol. Ok...
-
HF is very aware of that as well. Spring Hill??? Oops. EC would give silsbee all they want and could probably come out on top. I ll take HF dub over EC before giving you credit on the silsbee dub over a very down Nederland team. Other than Nederland, Silsbee has lost all their big games. Dont see your point in comparing Tarkington and Kountze to silsbee Losing games to bigger schools. HF could play those games and lose just like Silsbee. You will become a believer friday night.
-
Horns are very aware of the same. H-F by 2 scores.
-
Vidor is going to come out in the spread all night. Got that inside info from Mathews himself.
-
Lumberton 21-14 LCM Lumberton Huffman Splendora with Lumberton LCM being the toss up for 1st.
-
It was over 145 rushing yards with 118 negative rushing plays figured in from the 9 mishandled snaps. lost 15 to 20 yards per snap through the hands of Q. Yes they lost so I understand the struggle. Q was knocked out of the game in 1st half. so total yardage before mistakes was well over 400. Hughes Springs rank is from last season. Hughes Springs is no average 3A team. Big, fast, physical Slot T Team. SO comparing that game to is irrelevant to EC style. This should be a good game to watch.
-
You must not have seen the game. There was not much of a struggle. Hughes Springs is a multi-round deep team most years. They are good. Trick play scored and one big run early in game. H-F had 465 total yard Offense with countless fumbled snaps or bad snaps inside the 10. A lot of penalties as well. All early season stuff to clean up is all. 3 TD win is very hopeful. We will find out soon enough.
-
Nobody wants to talk this one up or down this season. Both sides must be a little nervous heading into Friday.
-
Big game for each team. Who you got? Both teams can score, H-F with the edge on Defense. H-F 34 EC 28
-
It is a spread Offense and ran a lot out of the I formation. I thought they looked good in it. They have enough skill guys to be dangerous. Speed did not look to be an issue.
-
Live half H-F did not give up a TD. Defense looks very good. Secondary is fast and the D-Line is mean. H-F made a big goalline stand 1st and goal from the 3 yard line. H-F scored once and moved the ball very well. QB for H-F can run and throw. Very fast and hard to tackle. Have several good looking running backs. Fumbles killed a few drives. BC is running a spread Offense and look good doing it. BC has a lot of speed on offense. QB i think is young but good. He will be very good in the near future. He missed a few throws but like I said H-F Defense looked dominant. They had him on the run often. BC backs are big and fast. The big fullback is hard to bring down. Defenses will need to gang tackle the big guy. Both teams should do well in district.

Yes. The picture posted is proof that there was a recording device turned ON in the press box pointed at the playing field being used by a coach wearing a headset with direct contact to coaches on the sideline. BF did not lie. BUT, he said there were no pictures, videos or text messages sent during the game. The coaches in the pressbox wearing headsets are not jr high inexperienced coaches. They are typically highly experienced coaches who have the highest impact on the game via headsets and information relayed to the sideline. No need to send the videos or pictures or text messages when headsets are on competent trusted coaches. careful with saying PNG has survived igate. BH and Nederland could easily hand Shug and crew 2 Ls making the Indians 4-3 and tied for NOT first place.
-
I like the HOWE question. Ha. Coach Waggoner and crew are doing an outstanding job with the H-F program. It appears the kids are buying in. The Longhorns play with a lot of emotion and discipline. Liberty is a tall task but the horns will be ready for the challenge.
-
This will make the game interesting, as well as the fact that unless either team can fire a shot at WOS or Silsbee, the loser will likely see Jasper in round 1.
-
This is a big game for both teams in their District. H-F has looked pretty good this season. Pulling for my Longhorns but do they have enough in the tank for Liberty. This one should be a good game to watch. Go Horns.
-
Orangefield will control the clock and win this one fairly easy. Good luck to both teams.
