  1. From a historical domination standpoint, I'd have to say WO-S. For the longest, no one in this area could take them, and when PN-G beat them in 1992 it was a HUGE deal. Until a few years ago, even West Brook couldn't take them on. If they were back in 22-4A, I'd probably give them the DC last year, and they would be in the thick of it all right now. Even with PN-G's recent success (playing up or down to the level of the team they are playing), there seems to be a mental block against WO-S. Or, more than likely, Hooks just has PN-G figured out. From a recent domination standpoint, I'd have to say West Brook. They have proven it, no one in this area can take them.
  2. As much as I love Cherokee, this is almost as bad as many of the Lumberton posts from previous weeks.
  3. Port Neches and Groves merged in God knows what year when a tornado took out Groves High School. The remains of the old high school stayed up next to Groves Elementary until about 10 years ago when it was dozed during bond renovations to Groves Elem.
  4. What are PAM's numbers? I know 2 years ago, talk was about them possibly dropping to 4A in this realignment. Is that a possibility? It would make for a monster 4A district down here.
  5. I've said before that I'd like to see a PNG / Nederland ISD merger, keeping the high schools separate. It would pull PNG out of Robin Hood and supply Nederland with some much needed valuation for the bond they are looking at. Before PNG's bond passed I even speculated that a Galena Park type stadium could have been built behind HEB on Twin City Hwy for both schools to use.
  6. I think the obvious would be Reliant. How many schools actually get playoff games there? Other than that, I think Galena Park sets the standard for a modern day stadium. As far as smaller schools go, Nederland's stadium would seem nice for early playoff games with the jumbo-tron. I'm hoping that PN-G's stadium will be attractive once construction is complete.
  7. I've been to many a Nederland playoff game during our playoff drought. I've also gone to Houston to see PN-G play, then dashed across town to catch the Nederland game. The double headers in the dome in 99 were awesome also. I'll never forget the cold rain at Rice Stadium in 2002 (I think). Nederland lost to the eventual state champions, and I went without a rain coat. Other than Ned, actually getting off my rump and going out to watch someone would just have to depend on how close they were. I have friends from many local districts. WO-S would be great as would West Brook.
  8. No way in hades that PN-G's OC is the best. He isn't even on the radar. Just because we're winning all of a sudden doesn't mean he's the best. If he were, we wouldn't be sitting on leads, running the ball up the middle three times and punting, while the other team makes a comeback. Best in the area is simply West Brook's. Last year I would have said Central's, but he's at Ozen now. Kelly's OC might be a good nomination also.
