Summer Creek Domination? Nederland Domination?

Injuries, grades and the fact that we are talking about 16,17 and 18 year old kids... who knows how the season is going to play out. Based off what I have seen so far, Ned gets one upgrade at LB. Mayfield is an absolute beast who would have played last year if it werent for a knee injury suffered at the beginning of the season. Deshawn is getting looks at DT as well as on the end, so he will be moved around on the line alot this year. I hope he keeps his hunger! (Dravanti Johnson senior year???) OL is not looking as good as I was hoping. Freshman Tackle has been getting some time but needs to get mean. QB are all pretty even, which means if you have 3 qb's, you really have 0. I think the 3rd stringer looks really good and I would not be surprised if he is named the starter after scrimmages. Sage is a great dual threat but wait until you see this guy on the outside. Looks really natural and with Kimler and Krautz, this could be the best WR group in the district if not the area. Hopkins will be a stud but his success will depend alot on how the OL progresses. Sage has been getting looks at LB and Krautz at CB. Both look pretty good. Tinsley has been getting looks at SS. He has some speed. Malveaux will be back in the interior. Dont look for him to go anywhere, thats a stonewall if I have ever seen one. Its going to be another great year of HS football for SETX! I cant wait. Can Nederland make it 24 straight 20-4A victories? Lets get it on and see....
Sage? i thought his name was Seay...
Sage Seay -

I heard Nederland lost a big transfer this year to Memorial. He was going to be a big influence on next years team. Anyone have anymore info on this?

I know of a few that are in the HJ program that don't live there in the lower levels...
I think the UIL would really be interested to know if anything like that was going on. -
Just explaining how the open gym program works. How is that being bitter? It's a brilliant way to attract better athletes don't you think? At least coach knows this. Why else would we open the gym to anyone other than Nederland tax payers? Boy, if this gets you upset just wait til tomorrow. I just about have my list narrowed for the thread question --What's up with Nederland? I am going to explain things that not even coach understands. Stay tuned
[img][Hidden Content]] -

If so, I hate to hear that. This is couron's last year and i think he will regret that decision later. On the other side of the coin, both these boys have a good chance to play football at the next level. So maybe that has something to do with there decision. If it does and they are both wanting to heal up and reduce the risk of injury, i don't blame them. As for the team goes, it would be nice to have that extra size in there to give Weisbrod a break, which could help late in games. IMO... the dogs will be just fine and will continue to improve.
I was told, in person, by a head coach in the Big 12, that when he is evaluating players for scholarships, he can tell in five minutes more about who he wants by watching them on the basketball court than he can on the football field.
Thats why Iowa St. has been in the bottom of the conference for so long. Makes sense now.
Nice try- This comment came from the coach of a Big Twelve school that is in Texas and has been to bowl games the last couple of years. Try all you want, but you wont be able to discredit this individual.
It was just a joke, but why are we playing the game of mystery? If he is not afraid of being discredited because he evaluates football talent on the basketball court, then just quote your source. We know its not Mack or Sumlin. I would have to go with Briles I guess. -

Great Job Carson! In my opinion, I don't think you got enough of the credit for all the success on and off the field the past couple of years! You were a great leader and signal caller and helped lead our team to 18 straight 20-4A wins and a trip to the 3rd and 4th round in the play-offs. Very accomplished career and thanks for all the hard work and dedication to the team and the school. You will be missed! Go Dogs!

how is nederland looking this year
Then welcome them to the team, heck, beg them to come play, you need that kind of nasty. Like I said, winning basketball games is about more than pretty jumpshots, you gotta bang too. Sorry they don't play AAU ball, maybe you shouldn't let them on the team for that. This kind of attitude, "they don't put in the time in the summer" is not what we need in Nederland. Sorry, but we don't have enough lights out straight basketball playing athletes to not Welcome them no basketball skill football kids. Just my opinion. We used to have a LOT of very good football / basketball players... Englishs' brother was one of em, so don't give me the you gotta play year round basketball line, that's NOT true.
I think you are completely missing the boat on this one. Obviously we welcome them to the team. As stated several times, they will help with defense and rebounding, which Nederland really needs. I dont think you are so naive to not know that each sport has its own set of "skills" that are unique to its sport. Dribbling, shooting and passing come to mind in basketball. Those I would consider Basketball skills. Just because you may not be strong in those skills, doesnt mean you are not athletic and that you cant help a basketball team in other ways. The kids that are coming over from football are great kids. Basketball may be their 2nd or 3rd option as far as sports go. They might rather spend their summer and off-season developing their skills in other sports or areas and that is absolutely okay. Nobody in my opionion is trying to be offensive to these kids (I know I am not). I dont see them as just being "Extra Bodies" out there, but will be key components in helping this team achieve its goals for this season. -
2013 20-4A Predictions

I have heard from many including Centrals Freshman Coach that Sage is the best QB in Nederland right now. They said as a Freshman, he could throw and run. Any thoughts that he may play QB next year. I know Monte is really high on Preston. Where does Krautz play next year... wr? cb? -
It's that what happened to your Bulldogs when they lost to this Central team? Did your Dogs get shafted?
Well I wasnt going to say anything, but since you bring it up... yes! The refs were very inconsistent. Central is a very talented and athletic group and can out jump our guys by a mile, but that doesnt mean it is okay to jump on our backs when we have position for rebounds. Nederland is going to have a hard time beating Central if we dont have a fair officiating crew.

I had a chance to go to the "Christmas on Boston" treel lighting last night and Coach Neumann and some of the players were able to make a few comments. Coach Neumann said that the crowd and the support for last weeks game was the best he has ever been around in his career! He asked whatever it was that the fans did last week, to keep on doing from here on out and hopefully we can see this thing through to Dec. 22! The players echoed Coach's thoughts about how great and appreciative they were of the support from the community. So, lets rest up this week and lets all be ready to scream to the top of our lungs again for our boys Saturday. We can do this... Go Bulldogs!

Thanks for all the comments! I hope the boys like it. The community is represented well by this group! Im sure my name probably confuses some of you. Truth be known I am a Nederland resident for the last 10 years and with sons who are bulldogs and future ones, I am a full blown die hard bulldog myself. Thanks again! -

#5 Nederland vs #1 Pearland Dawson
GoBigBlue1997 replied to dogbite's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Nederland has yet to play their best game. We are going to need it to all come together this week and from here on out to advance. Defense will always keep us in it, but again we let another blowout escape us tonight. We spent most of the game in pc territory. We needed to score more than 17. A win is a win, and in the playoffs, I will take that all day long, but I cant wait for this team to play to its potential. -

Coach English didnt want the freshman and JV teams to play each other in the championship, so WB (who the NED Frehman beat) played in their spot in the championship. NED freshman beat OF and finished the tournament 4-0. Freshman got the third place trophy while WB walked out with the First Place Trophy celebrating like they won the NBA Finals.
Congrats to nederland. Dayton had alot of young kids play hard today. I would like to also point out daytons offensive playcalling stayed horrible and would be suprised if some coaching changes were not made. Last 3 games dayton had 3 offensive tds totally unacceptable. Please dont ruin our young sophmores and freshman this team should be loaded for a while.
LMAO! I love the underlining excuses. The whole team was sophmores and freshman huh? RONTFL!! -
Must feel good to walk away with the 1st place trophy even though you got beat by a frosh team who deserved it. I think ya missed out on a great oppertunity to show some class and hand the trophy over, but hey, keep celebrating!

I remember that bitter/sweet feeling from last year like it was yesterday. On one hand there was the dissapointment that we came up short in a game that we could have won. But, on the other hand, I couldnt stop smiling because of the opportunities this great team would have to accomplish next year. Everyone that knew this team, all had the same fear for this season... Hopefully everyone stays healthy! There was no doubt that this team would repeat as district champs, there was no doubt that this team would be better than the lasts. So, here we are, one year later and the time has finally arrived. A year of expectations have culminated to this very day. We are facing a tougher opponent than we probably expected this early. We would have to face them sooner or later. Is it going to be easy? No. Would we have it any other way? No! So, all that anxiety and nerves that are running through your veins right now, focus and channel it out to that field and let it explode on your opponent. We are Bulldogs and this is our time! Go get em Ned!
