Ya, I know we had to play the 2 leading rushers in 4A...  Jonathan Gray and Leroy Dobbins.  Dobbins doesn't get the publicity the other top backs do, thanks to his size, but he's not just speed.  They give him the ball 30+ times a game.  Teams stacked the box so much to slow him down, it led to the coach's son putting up that kind of TD/INT ratio. (19/1)
You do realize that Dobbins is running behind an almost entirely new offensive line?  I expect him to do well, but he will not have a year like last year.
 2.
I've been preaching about Montgomery being underrated since last year.  IMO, this team is dangerous and deserves way more credit than they get.  In setx terms, think of it like this...  When Brenham and Montgomery hook up this year, it will have the feel of PNG vs Central.  The winner will likely to be the district champ, and it will be a great game to watch.  There's 7 years of starting experience between the 2 QB's and 7 years of starting experience between the HB's.  Both teams have pretty stout defenses.  I think the only thing that will set us apart, is our receiving corp.  If I were a D1 playoff team, I wouldn't want to draw Montgomery come playoff time.
After hearing a report from a fairly modest father, regarding Humble's Defense (First day of pads was friday)....I say bring it. Id like nothing more then to draw them.
Booger Kennedy, who was a terror at UNT, was about that size.
Not saying that it's not possible that he is a game changer....but its one of those things i have to see to believe....5'9 305 is huge in a bad way. ive seen NT that size be effective, but it always takes me off guard.  Humble had a OL that was about 5'9 320lbs that was an abouslte load....But had you pointed that kid out prior to the game and asked me if he was anything special...i would say "Naw...that boy is just chunky"

 5.
The top 5 is pretty solid. Humble, PNG and Yates are too high. Crosby and Central are too low. El Campo is a tough team that could make some noise.   GCM is 3rd in 19 4A Nederland at 17 is funny.  Barbers Hill is noticeably absent
Where would you put Humble Downgoesfrazier?  So i am guessing you agree with just about every other poll that has come out, that has left us out. Where are we going to finish in district in your eyes? Well, im ready to have the boys hit the field....We are going to bring a ton of pain.  We are LOADED.
i will not be attending that game...i am going to the North Shore-Katy Game that night.  It's closer, and i am rooting for the former Wildcat D. Young.

Humble has one 3-7 season, and aren't ranked in any published regional ranking...That is the first time in about 15 years that Humble hasn't appeared in ANY regional rankings. I love this.  I usually gage how well Humble will do with how much hype surrounds them, and with absoutley none...We can go into games against Willis and Huntsville as underdogs...Sweet. Predicting it now, Humble goes 10-0...and beats the living crap out of everyone in the regular season.
Willis has no defense, but one of the best passing offenses in the area and Huntsville has a solid defense and a good ground game.  I have 18-4A like this at the end of the year... 1. Humble 2. Huntsville 3. Willis 4. Kingwood Park JMO
I doesn't even really matter.  I know that our boys are going to be ready to go, and we will have had plenty of games before either Huntsville or Willis.  We have 3 scrimmages, which only works in our favor....I am really looking forward to see how this Humble team comes together.

With Cameron LaCour and the Crosby player coming in back to back years. Ive known the LaCours for nearly 15 years, and know that they are stand up people. So, i know that one was at least clean.  I watched all the LaCours except Cameron put on the Purple for the Wildcats, and Cameron was actually suppose to come back to Humble (the area in which Mrs. LaCour lived) the year he transferred to Dayton...His mother was offered a position at Dayton i believe and that was a better fit for Mother and son...all her kids have had a hands on experiance with their mother in regards to track...and LaCour was 100% track kid. That is one truly athletically gifted family...LaCours oldest brother i believe still holds the 100M dash record at Humble, and his Sister Karyen Lacour (nebraska) won 2 state titles while at Humble and holds the record in 100M hurdles.
We have a whole wing at Dayton HS dedicated to the teacher/parents of transferred athletes. We dont have enough students so they just hang out all day, drink coffee, fix grades and rig steroids tests.
Theirs talent at Dayton, that is for sure. and for a school with such a low enrollment number and apparently partcipation percentage i am rather impressed with the quality of athlete they field.  it really helps them remain competivie. You can say what you will about dayton, but their coaching has obviously shown that they can take good atheltes and make them into football players....

 13.
Fowler has been the kicker since his freshman year, plus he broke the school record with a 49 yarder last year...kids legit
49 yarder?  That's child play. I remember that kid from Kingwood a couple years ago nail a 60+ field goal.  LaCour i believe..... I think Humble's school record is 56 yards by Jason Bonzino or Kyle Stinger...both have played some pro ball (though not long)
 14. Humble thank god has lost no one of any signifigance this off season. Last off season we lost 2 to transfers, 1 to quitting, and 2 just moved and stop playing football. 4 were starters.... RB- Donovonn Young (now at Katy. was a starter) FS- LaQuintas Dowell (Transferred to a school in AZ, Was a starter) DT- Kenneth Brown (a starter and potential DI kid, from what i understand just got up and left..not playing football anywhere) SE- Daryl Smith (Not a transfer but decided to focus on track...was a starter) DB- Auntre Williams (mystery)
 15.
Brenhamfan knows what hes talking about when it comes to Brenham. Hes related to the Edwards kid whos going to tech. UT doesnt "Officially" give out offers till their first Jr day but there are rumors that elite recruits have offers for months but are asked not to make any announcements of having one or committing.
And i can tell you that UT doesn't even unoffically offer someone until EVERY last of their targets for the current senior class is signed.  Being heavily courted by UT however is a good sign that a offer is going to come.... DT Malcolm Borwn and DT Paul Boyette are two DT's i expect UT to offer, but we won't know until after they current season that has yet to commence.
 16.
Katy has multiple junior highs, but they all learn the Katy system and all feed into Katy. It's not the multiple junior highs as much as it is that any one junior high can go to multiple high schools. If Baytown had 6 junior highs, 2 going to Lee, 2 going to Sterling and 2 going to GCM...it would make for a much better athletic program at each. Katy can start teaching their system all the way down in pop warner league. I'm not sure how West Brook does their zoning.  I do know that Lee used to beat the fire out of the Bruins when they had an equal number of students, so what West Brook does is neither here nor there. Yes, you can compete and win without having junior high feeder systems for the high schools, but it's just easier to compete and win if you do have the system in place.
Katy no longer has a single middle school that feeds into it, they are zoned to multiple high schools.  i remember KT2000 from the 5a board mentioning that a couple of times.  Cinco Ranch i belive is the only katy ISD school that has a specific middle school feeding into it.

 18.
Touché.  I'm interested in seeing how all of the former 5A teams do in 4A.  If things play out they way they should, y'all will be playing Montgomery or Stratford in the first round of the playoffs.  That being said, I was going to see if you wanted to join me for the Brenham vs Stratford game Thursday, November 4th at Tully stadium?  That is, if it turns out y'all are lined up to play them at the end of the season, and you're interested in going.
Was planning to head that direction anyway, i am interested in seeing how Startford will do that game.  what time is the game?
 19.
I would put y'all about where Stratford is.  Other than Aledo, (which has the best hs player i've ever watched) and Montgomery, we can shut down the run too. We beat Montgomery 14-7, but our first td we returned 70+ yards by a DE, cuz of a bad pitch on an option play.  Early in the 4th quarter, Dobbins broke lose for a 80+ yard td, but it was called back for a hold.  Dobbins still had 232 yards, but they didn't complete a pass all night.  Against Huntsville they had 4 downs to punch it in from the 2, with right over a minute to play and couldn't do it.  Also against Crosby, it came down to the end.  All 3 of their losses, were by one play,  so they could have easily went undefeated, or atleast a little further in the playoffs.  Their QB is also the coach's son and threw 12 TD's and only 1 int (to us) last year.  They also had the second best defense in the district, behind ours.  They are very underrated, as is Dobbins.
Fair enough, I can live with that being a starting point.  Although I am of the opinion that we will be one of the top teams in the state this year…however that may just be wishful thinking. As far as defense goes, it helps when you have a lot of solid skill players.  I wouldn’t go as far to say that Montgomery is overrated due to them being ranked within the regional top 10 by VYPE, and in the top 50 by FNF.  Plenty of people view them as a great team.  I would say however that dobbins is underrated.  I have him as one of the top backs in his class, he reminds me of Shane Turner from Cy-Falls a couple of years ago.  Montgomery seems to struggle with athletism…you gave me some examples of teams that have good to above average athletes across the board, and those are the teams that posed the most trouble.  This tells me a couple of things, their coaching is sub-par…and their players don’t execute well across the board. As for Humble, I believe that it will be a tall order for any team to score on us simply given that we are running a scheme that really fits well against what some of your top 4a teams have been doing.
 20.
? I would say we have this one in the bag.  If we go top 4, we have it easily.  I think any of our top 3, (Brenham, Montgomery or Stratford) would beat the best team from 18-4A.  The game in the four spot would be pretty even.  Top to bottom, were not too impressive, because Spring Woods and Northbrook are horrible.  That's only 2 teams though, and considering 18-4A has 2 first year programs in it, plus Caney Creek...i'd say we have the edge there too.
I don't think Montgomery or Stratford will/would beat Humble.  Humble and Brenham would be a pretty good game, and considering their are still some questions i have regarding the Humble offense, right now id say Brenham was maybe 7-10pts better.  I realize that Humble is going to have to prove that the 3-7 year was a fluke, and it will take time before Humble is realized for what it is...A contender. Reasons why i think Humble would beat Montgomery or Startford. Montgomery- Their key player is their offense.  Dobbs would be shut down by our defensive scheme that is geared to stop the running attack.  Humble has a fairly good reputation in stopping teams that feature All-American types....  Most recently, Russel Sheppard...who we held to 30+ yards on 17 attempts. Startford- Their biggest asset will be their offensive line size up front, most schools will be overwhelmed in the trenches.  Humble features one of the states largest most athletic Defensive lines  that averages 6'3 and an average weight of 241.  On top of it, we have better athletes at every spot on the field....and that plays into affect for them who have historically struggled against your more athletically inclined teams. Brenham presents more of a problem, because they do have good athletes aross the field.  As well as being fairly balanced offensively, which is where we have traditionally struggled.  If we can score, we should be ok....But given that we are breaking in a new QB only time will tell how good we can actually be.
 21.
Beaumont West Brook FNF #48 5atexasfootball.com #18 Dave Campbell's #10 Wow!  ::)
you can see the disparity. FNF is a joke.  I generally would say that BWB is a program that likes to flounder at seasons end, but this group is pretty good. I got them winning 21-5a.
 22.
The Willis air attack is conducted by seniors too.  They really rely on momentum, so don't let them get ahead by more than 10 or so.  If you can get in the QB's head early, he tends to make mistakes and just throw jumpballs.  If they do get the confidence they need early, they are a dangerous team.  If you get an early lead, it could turn in to a blow out though.
Humble's defensive front is going to cause havock for the Willis offensive line, and that is going to mean a long day for Nixon.  As far as i am concerned the air attack will never get off the ground simply based on the pressure we can put on an offense with just four pass rushers.  We will have a tremendous front 4, and see no reason why we should struggle against pass first teams.... Willis has 14 returning starters, but their defense was very poor last year.  The potential for a shoot out is possible, but unlikley.  I don't think a single team we will play will score more then 10-14 pts on us. i see 18-4a playing out as follows 1. Humble- returns a solid group of seniors and juniors who were extrondarily young last season. Key wins: Ike and Aldine.  Never were down right horrible last year, but never really clicked.  Tons of talent, but insability at QB hurt them. 2. Willis- returns 14 starters, and Fred Nixion is legit. have skilled weapons, will prey on a defensively weak district 3. Hunstville- New coach, rebuilding year.... 4. New Caney- Have a great shot at winning the final spot, benifit from test by fire in 14-5a.  Have a strong Junior class and a great new head coach who will get them playing defense 5. Kingwood Park 6. Summer Creek- Small, fast, and deer looking into the headlights.  This program has skill players, but will be very bad for numerous years (probably 4-5 years of losing) 7. Caney Creek- c'mon....their Caney Creek 8. Porter- way too young, have never played together under this head coach.

Dude, Humble is going to make FNF look really dumb.   Huntsville and Willis all have one thing going for them, they have the skill players to stay in the game....but i don't think any of the teams picked ahead of us by FNF will come with in 20pts.
Willis has a weak defense and not much of a running game, but what they lack there, they make up for in their air attack.  That being said, just hope your secondary is good and you can force them to run.  I think it will be a shoot out though.  As for Huntsville, they have a new coach, and lost their best player.(Justin Gilbert) They do have a fast QB and a good running game though.  I'll let you know how they are this year since we have them in week 0.
Humble probably has the best secondary in that district without a doubt, not to mention a physically impressive looking secondary. FS- Brison Burris 6'0 180lbs DB- Alphonso Harleston 6'2 190lbs DB- Cliff Thomas 5'11 190lbs these are are returning senior starters, and they are a rangy group. I would rather them try to throw the ball, because i believe that picks are likely with this group...Not to mention we have some incredibly talented Junior DB's in Zach Miles and Devonta Smith.  if anything we are loaded in the secondary.  We also have a very stout Defensive front 4, a little thin at LB...but i think we will manage.
