Dogs1218- regarding your WOS HJ prediction

Depends on how Heard and Winbush play, they are both pretty good, but HJ will kill them on their press. I say HJ by 10+.
-
If we play like we did in HJ, I wouldn't bother going.

Nothing keeps you more physically fit than running up and down the basketball floor. The athletes who are not participating in basketball need to be working out not the basketball players. They should be working out in the gym.
Hey Tripple, If you never stop lifting weights then you will only have to go through the "initial soreness period" once that comes with just starting to work out ( minus the little aches & pains all good or bad athletes go through). I am in touch with a bunch of programs in the area & all of the successful programs go through weight training during the season.
That's correct, but to miss a whole day not going in the gym at all....for weight lifting? That's not smart to me.

I am all for select teams! Aimee played softball for years >:(, that's not the problem. The problem is parents trying to get their kids and others to focus on just one sport and not play anything else in HOPES they get a scholarship. Some kids don't like sports that they are only average at and instead of getting better and really don't like them when they used to be the best and are only average now, they just quit because that takes no effort. Bleed this is for you - ::) ;D
One more thing, either a kid loves a sport or they don't. If a kid loves multiple sports then that kid will play multiple sports. No coach or parent can change that. I don't know if I would say kids have gotten lazy, I would say their interest has changed. Are kids lazy? You bet but my parents said I was lazy too. LOL!!!!!I don't believe anyone in Orangefield that has started a select team has told a kid to only play that sport. I also think the parents who started select teams in Orangefield did it because they wanted the program to flourish as a whole. I mean look at softball, sure parents do it because they have a kid playing but all in all they are doing it for the program plain and simple. JMO!!!! ;D ;D These parents are not getting paid that is the difference.
You'd be incorrect.

In volleyball you do not run, in softball you only run if you get a hit. Basketball you run the whole time. THAT'S why the numbers are lower in basketball because there are some lazy kids, then throw on top of that there are girl who want to "focus" on one sport. No girl at Orangefield should play just one sport, I hate to be the voice of reason, but there aren't any volleyball players currently playing that were even close to as good as Kirby Myers and she didn't even play vball in college! No basketball players as good as KK Little and they both played JUCO. So please before you [s]lie [/s] tell kids that if they "focus" on one sport they will play at Texas, Uconn, Tennesse, or even Lamar read a book, take a class, WATCH a match/game and then get a clue. There are many angry parents who wasted a lot of time and money on select volleyball in this area because of some lies told told to them.
Well Bleed you just had to say the word...didn't you...Cant be cause the coach in the past isn't around any more could it....can't be cause the parents wore their kids out with lil dribblers...can't be cause the talent these days just isn't like it was when your daughter played...And it's sure not cause some of the girls want to practice another round ball during YOUR basketball season Bleed...I understand your concern..we have been down this road..but once again it doesn't interfere with the sport in hand...Lack of leadership and talent is what I see has happen to 3a sports...Would you agree?
I blame parents for filling kids heads with lies about if they play club volleyball they will get scholarships. I think some parents got worried that their kids "talent" wasn't what it was when they were younger and instead of playing basketball they changed their focus to another sport and tried to get a lot of girls on board and tried to get them NOT to play basketball and just "focus" on one sport. I mean why in the world would you want to play basketball at Orangefield after the sucess they've had the last 10 years, right? ::)
We don't have to talk about our game, you can come watch, if you'd like.. ;D
I really liked the way Hardin played last year against Orangefield, I even called the upset over Woodville ;) I wish I could come watch them, but I'd like to settle for at least knowing how their games went.
-
I still don't see them posting on those threads. :'(
-
You have one of the best teams in the area, but I see no one posting about your games. What's up with that?
-
You can send personal messages (PM's) if he doesn't see this, he's more of a baseball guy doesn't come over here too often. ;D

**Orangefield at HJ Broadcast/H-J wins/Comments**
Bobcat1 replied to Lazeek's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ made our girls turn the ball over, I'd say a good 25 times, the other 25 turnovers we had were GREAT passes, to HARDIN JEFFERSON. I hope we regroup, have a seance, some voodoo, SOMETHING. We need to shoot more at practice because we couldn't hit anything, rim included! Congrats HJ! -
Usually not to much talk before these two teams get together, I believe that's because both teams and fans respect the other!!!
That and there is a lack of people who post on the girls board. I remember when WOS, Lumberton, Kountze, Hardin-Jefferson and Orangefield all had really really good teams, there was a lot more action on the board. Now that most of the teams are "weaker" you don't see any WOS, Lumberton, or Kountze posters. -
Hardin-Jefferson vs. Silsbee Game Thread/H-J wins/Comments
so youre saying if they dont have club vb - then silsbee would be one of best teams in district?? . not sure about the reasoning - dont get me wrong, i think club vb is a waste of time and money. they all have been led to believe they can only get a scholarship this way.
Athletes pick just volleyball and don't play anything else in HOPES they get a scholarship, same thing is happening in Orangefield, and there isn't a girl in OF that can play DI volleyball. ::) -

A lack of class? OF was only up 2 at half time, they put HF away in the 2nd half by pressing, when should he have stopped when he gets up by 10. ::) -
I can't find them from last week or are they not done? We need to make them a sticky thread.
