Lady Bobcats throttle BC, 50-29 Van Wade The Orange Leader ORANGEFIELD — Getting a strong test for two and a half quarters by the Bridge City Lady Cardinals, the Orangefield Bobcats exploded down the backstretch to notch a 50-29 District 21-3A-opening win at Bobcat Gym Friday night. The Lady Cardinals (6-12, 0-1) got to within 30-26 with a little more than two minutes remaining in the third period only to see the Lady Bobcats (15-7, 1-0) close the quarter with an 8-0 run. Leading 38-26 heading into the fourth period, the Lady Bobcats went on to hold Bridge City without a field goal in the final eight minutes as they closed out the contest with a 12-3 spurt. The Lady Bobcat defense hammered the Lady Cardinal offense all night long, forcing Bride City into a whopping 35 turnovers. Orangefield also limited Bridge City to just seven field goals made. Lady Bobcat Rebecca Higginbotham had one of her better games of the season as she led Orangefield with 13 points to go along with five rebounds. Senior pos Aimee Scales contributed 11 points and five rebounds. Marissa Wyatt pumped in 10 points while Ashton Wagner added six points and five boards. Post Jordan Royal, the Lady Cardinals’ leading scorer for the season, led the way again Friday night by tallying 10 points while yanking down nine rebounds. Brooklyn Hogden had eight points and seven rebounds, including burying two three-pointers while pos Ashley Wilbur contributed five points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Both teams shot a slew of free throws, neither faring too well. Orangefield went just 21-of-39 from the charity stripe while Bridge City was only 12-of-26. Bridge City finished with a 34-27 rebounding advantage and forced Orangefield into 21 turnovers. Orangefield led 8-7 at the end of the first period and stretched it to 23-17 at intermission. The Lady Bobcats will travel to Orange County rival West Orange-Stark Tuesday while the Lady Cardinals welcome Hardin-Jefferson.

  12. I hope everyone can post scores..It's district for everyone now and there hasn't been a good showing of fans posting scores this year. I still don't have an updated 20-4A district. 
  13. It will be closer than in recent years, but HJ will come out on top.
  14. Very good win!  Should see Ozen in the Top 25 poll next week.  What was the score and why is it taking so long to post this.  :D
