  1. 5th round has started - McCarthy is nominated again by Rep. Warren Davidson of Ohio "We're on the precipice of such a destructive argument today. I plead with all, all of my Republican colleagues: let cooler, more rational heads prevail. Let us unite as Republicans to elect the next speaker of the House,"
  2. (D) Jefferies - 212 (R) McCarthy - 201 (R) Donalds - 20 Another stalemate. GOP Rep. Victoria Spartz voted present, dropping threshold to win speakership to 217 - She was a McCarthy supporter, so not much help.
  3. Who would everyone like to see as Speaker?
  4. Donalds has 20 votes now - Matching Jordans total from yesterdays vote.
  5. One time in one hundred years, but none the less not always.
  6. Republican Byron Donalds has been nominated and has received nine votes - Without any Democrats voting for McCarthy, he will lose the 4th round as well.
  7. McCarthy was nominated - Just needs 217 more votes.
  8. "It's now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN," Trump wrote in a post to his Truth Social platform. After a day marked by chaos on the House floor, Trump urged Republicans not to "TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT."
  9. McCarthy is wanting to adjourn until Thursday, but would need 218 votes to make that happen. Democrats stated they would vote against adjouning and force a fourth round vote.
  10. I'm not complaing, but I do think McCarthy needs to step down. He's too weak to be Speaker -At this point, he's sold his soul to anyone who would vote for him, he has nothing else to compromise. This stalls legislation, investigatsions, House rules, new members being sworn in, and commitee seats.
  11. That's not true....This is the frist time in 100 years it's had to go to more than one ballot. Every other time Republicans and Democrats have only gone one round. Republican's have always been rank and file until this year. [Hidden Content]
  12. All the other times the Republicans did the same thing, that was ok? Last time was 1923.
  13. Third round adds more extra vote for Jim Jordan
  14. McCarthy loses round two of voting: (R) McCarthy - 203 (R) Jordan - 19 (D) Jefferies - 212
  15. Jim Jordan was just nominated by Matt Gaetz.
  16. He received 203 votes, he needs 218. Ten voted for Briggs Nine voted for "other" - Not sure what party 212 voted for Jeffries to be minority leader.
  17. Speaker vote to go to second ballot first time in 100+ years.
