  1. This is all I could find on Maxprep. Crockett did not turn in individual statistics on their players. 2. Congrats Silsbee--Way to keep it going!!!
  3. What a back and forth game. Definitely a game of streaks by both teams. The Hawks got a little sloppy when they were up by 9 with over 5 min left to play. A couple of TO's and missed shots by HJ and Navasota got their second wind and put up some quick basket's. When HJ was down by three with a min left the guard for Navasota decided to drive and missed the shot. That's all HJ needed to get going again. Great defense the last couple of posessions and the clutch put back by Jacoby was thrilling. He always seems to be where you need him most. If anyone wanted to see an NBA type game played with all the tight defense this was it. Most physical High School game I have ever seen. Congrats Hawks--Man ya'll are a tuff bunch of kids!! Hecklers win the MVP award!!!! Awesome turn out by the HJ Fans!! What a great atmosphere!!! Great job by all the HJ coach's
  4. The game's are played and their is always a winner and a loser. That's a given everytime. During the course of the game every team will have missed shots, turnovers and missed defensive assignments. That's basketball. It's never perfect!! A Ref's duty during the course of a game is to ensure the game is played in a safe manner and the rules of the game are followed on the court. Period!!! It is not for him to pre-determine a course of action if the game played in regulation time did not unfold the way he would have liked it to. The call by the Ref in this case was two fold: 1) he needed to add time back on the clock 2) put Navasota in a position to score during that time (1 second). The question was how he could accomplish this? The only sure way is to call a technical. If the other team does nothing to warrant this then he has to create something. He did what he had to do. He did change the outcome of the game because the game had already been decided before he blew his whistle on the premeditated call (technical)!! He warned the coach about the players on the court and before they could even address the issue he calls the technical. If this had been the HJ Girls I would have had a heart attack, and by all means the OF fans and players have the right to complain and vent. It still bothers me this happened to OF, so I can only imagine how they still feel.
  5. I hope EC gets their big man (McDonald) involved more. During the EC/Kountze game at the Montagne Center he didn't get enough touches. He is athletic and could pose a mis-match problem with his outside shot. That would open it up for Thomas and the others to do their thing. EC by 4 maybe more!!
  6. Ozen forgets the other night and plays their game. Ozen by 5.
  7. I looked at the Bellville web site and found out the following: 19-14 on the season 7-3 in District (2 loses to Navasota) Won 7 of their last 9 with both loses to Navasota. A blow out by Navasota at Navasota and a 3 point loss at Bellville. Their record on the year on a neutral court is 5-5. They have a 6-8 Junior post that averages 8+ points per game. Had a 20 point game early in the season but usually does not score big numbers. He does block alot of shots. Two senior guards that average almost 13 points per game each. Both guards shoot the three at a 30% +/- pace. Point guard #15 is averaging around 18 points per game over the last 6 games and scored 32 against Navasota the last time they played. Silsbee guards need to pay attention to him. Bellville's worse loses of the Season--By 40 to Lamar Consolidated and by 19 to Navasota. All other loses were close. Hope this helps Silsbee fans know a little about their apponent!!
  8. Not seeing Navasota play before makes me pay attention to what the OF fans and Lazeek are predicting. Lazeek says there won't be a winner by 10 points either way so I'm dropping my prediction to 9 3/4.
  9. Not even close between Silsbee & Bellville - the Tigers in a route! However, I don't see a Silsbee-HJ sequel, I think Navasota puts an end to the Hawks season. I agree with the fact that silsbee will beat bellville. . . .but as far as Navasota putting an end to the hawks season . . not likely!! The hawks press will shut down the rattlers. . .why all this hatered toward hj??? is someone still hung up on last year?? Poppa, you and I have been around the block before on a couple of issues. And, up front, I mention that I am from Silsbee and you guys (The Hawks) have already whipped the Tigers pretty good on two occasions this season. Now, my question is, why do you have opinions but anyone else has "Hatred?" I'm referring, of course, to jetski who expressed what I would call his opinion that H-J could have some trouble with Navasota. You, of course, don't agree with his position (opinion) and you fall back on the hatred issue. Where is the hatred in what jetski mentioned? You are talking to PoppaBear Jr, not PoppaBearstarr!!! Just helping clear that up for you Tigersvoice. Anyway, I think wishful thinking is more appropriate than hatred in his prediction; unless Jetski is very well schooled on the miss-matches that the two teams pose for each other. I'm sure Jetski can tell all of us how succesful HJ was this year playing against teams with good big men and how succesful HJ was playing against teams with quick guards!!!!!! Anything can happen in high school basketball, but I would assume noone from Silsbee would want to face a team better than HJ, but there again some may want to play anyone, as long as it isn't HJ!!!! Oh yeah, good luck Silsbee against Bellville. Silsbee by 10.
  10. Great season girls. Hold your heads up. We are all very proud of your accomplishments this year.
  11. Bullet 13 nailed it!!
  12. I can prove it--but it's a secret!!!
  13. What you smell is all that mustard on your shirt from the 12 hotdogs you ate at the HJ Girls game!!!
  14. Lazeek, We were both wrong. It was 16!!!
  15. Great season OF. Your getting better every year and proving fundamentally sound teams can and will win. Tradition has to start somewhere and you laid a great foundation for it this year.
  16. If Stafford was Co-Champs with Sweeney they should be good. Sweeney had a very athletic team and reminded me of Silsbee in alot of ways. But I think the top teams in 21-3A are stronger so Silsbee wins by 15.
  17. A earlier post had Fairfields record at 31-2. Must be good!!!
  18. It's a good thing the NY Giants didn't pay attention to all the predictions before the Super Bowl. I say OF continues on and wins by 3.
  19. Not intended to be that way. My thinking when writing this was refering to late in the season when all the teams know who each other is. Have played each other numerous times and knew what to expect. At that point is when I think coaching plays an even bigger role. This is when the coaches have a good idea what the other team is going to do and they say this is how I'm going to stop them and win the next game. By that standard look at the previous 2 Sils/OF games and compare them to the last. The Silsbee coach's did well in putting their team in a position to win the game big. You can look at the previous HJ/Silsb games and compare to the last game that was played at a neutral site. For that matter look at the last HJ/Sils game scores, the score at half time 30-30 and the final 74-52. That's coaching!!! I am not trying to belittle any of the coaches. Just looking at the end of the year and what each one accomplished. Now, I do give OF alot of credit for beating Jasper 2 in a row at the end of the season but I also thought OF was better than Jasper too. This was not a discredit to your team or coach. It was giving you credit for being as good as you are.
  20. I think if you look at the 21-3A teams you will see that the teams other than HJ-SILS-OF were not as strong as everyone predicted earlier in the season. I know I was surprised when HJ played them. So, was it really exceptional caoching by OF that got them the wins over these teams or was OF the 3rd best team in the District from the beginning because of their talent. Also, remember the 30 point loss to Silsbee late in the year at OF. The main reason given for the OF coach to win has been based off early predictions and where their team ended up. On the other hand Silsbee was predicted by many to beat HJ (review the thread from the tie-breaker game at the montagne center) and HJ beat them by over 20. Weren't they predicted to either win or come in second in district at the beginning of the season. They lost to HJ by double figures twice and won 1 game by 2 points at Silsbee. The word on the street early on was HJ could not stop their quick guards, but they did!! The only reason given for Sutherland not to win the award was because he had the most talent. Whether some HJ games were close or not is irrevelant. Whether HJ players were hurt during the season is also irrelevant. You still have to put your players in a position to win each night and no-one does or did that better than Sutherland. You can try to justify him not getting the award all day long but I think anyone that looks at the district as a whole will see that Sutherland is the coach that most would want directing their program because of exactly what HJ did on the court this year. HJ won the games they were suppose to win and won district doing it. Do I think the coach from OF and Sils are good? You bet I do. Do I think they out coached Sutherland during District 21-3A? Not even close!!!!
  21. HJ took control in the 4th quarter. #4 for Sweeney could shot the three from the parking lot. HJ stayed with their game plan and played solid team basketball again. Jarvis was big in the 4th quarter. Congrats Hawks.
  22. Ya"ll got'em this far coach-go ahead and take them the rest of the way!!!!
