  1. I think HJ wins district and Silsbee 2nd. OF must match up good with Silsbee only losing by 1 point to Silsbee earlier in the year. Jasper can play tough any given night. The HJ/Silsbee game in Silsbee will be a classic. My prediction: 1.HJ 2.Silsbee 3.OF
  2. This will be my last post on this issue. First, the OF people in question were the ones at the game, not the whole community. And it was not all fans at the game, just an immature select few. The point is not where you sit in a gym. We all disagree with refs and say things, and coach's do the same. Nobody cares. But what we heard Friday was wrong. No matter where you sit. I don't care about school records or any other information that did not pertain to the game. I do care that my daughter witnessed this childish and crude behavior. Is this typical for OF BB games? Is this the behavior Good OF People want around their own kids? My daughter is suppose to be able to attend school functions and not be subjected to this type of language, especially by what I am assuming are mature adults. I just wonder what it would be like when these people are in the comforting confines of their own gym. I can tell you that OLD TIMER has no remorse for what took place, an assumption I've concluded by his earlier post. He even stated in a post (one of the few he hasn't edited) that he had tried to tone it down, well look at all his post in green and tell me where he tried to tone it down. He was basically making light of the situation with stupid remarks. Anyway, he is OF's problem. So, I can promise you my daughter will not go to OF to witness it again. All HJ fans should consider what they want their small kids subjected to before they make the same decision. As for the game--great sportsmanship on both teams part---good luck to both.
  3. Old Timer-No, that was not me, sorry. Anyway, I guess you are still crying and still not showing much class!!!! At least you are using complete sentences today and not any 4 letter words. Maybe if you had more than a GED you could correct your communication problems. Just for future reference--The hecklers feed off stupidity and they left the gym fulllllllllllllllllllll last nite.
  4. I for one am a fan that sits on the opposite side of the gym so we can see the whole game, the coach's doing their thing, etc. We have sat there all year and all last year. Guess what!! We never have had a problem with anyone. If you want to know what the problem is; it's you. The Orangefield fans started crying when they got out of their cars. They cried in the bathroom, at the concession stand and I'm sure all the way home. I heard it for 3 games. Not just the varsity. It just so happened they when foul language from the OF fans became so profound some people took offense to it. My 14 year old daughter complained about how the OF kids acted 30 feet from us. So I guess this is something you guys are theaching them as well. The Hecklers are HIgh School kids having fun and supporting their team. I thought OF had hecklers too, but they weren't high school kids, they were grown adults. To be honest, I am embarrased for your team that this is the way you choose to support them. Oh, by the way, when we lost at EC we sat next to EC fans and had a good time with them. But those are classy, well educated people that undersand the game. Good Luck OF Basketball Team. Grow Up OF Parents. Set a good example for your kids. Remember you are at a school function.
  5. I think I was very clear when I said "Dont Blame The Girls". It is the coach that is in question here. And by the way, my neice plays for PNG and I know she is a good kid. I don't understand where you are coming from. Did we all miss something?
  6. Sungren didn't play at all due to sickness. Burrell looked like he was still week due to sickness. And Jarvis Benard didn't play at all in the 2nd Q due to 3 fouls in the first. And the Hawks still did their thing. Great job HJ.
  7. Just remember, that is a coach's decision. Don't blame the girls. Personally, I have never been impressed with PNG's coach. I've watched them play games the past 2 years and have left the gym shaking my head numerous times. I'm not sure if she is a true basketball coach.
  8. You have to admit that most of her layups or not your typical layups. She is always changing direction while in the air. Most girls don't know how to attempt those shots, much less make them like she does.
  9. Playing quality teams as they do when they play each other will only help them come playoff time.
  10. HJ should win by at least 20. The game they played Jasper at EC was nowhere near their best game and they beat them by 20+.
  11. I've watched a ton of HJ Basketball thru the years and I've tried to gauge opponents when we play them. This Silsbee team scares me. They are athletic and they are good basketball players. They did make numerous runs during the course of the game. That shows the willingness to win. When you have athletes with the willingness to win you have a dangerous foe. The hawks did what they had to do in the end, but Silsbee didn't make it easy. I'm very proud of the Hawks, but very leary of Silsbee. Good Job both teams.
  12. HJ ran their game plan until the end (with some Sutherland adjustments along the way). Sooner or later it does what it's designed to do. Silsbee is tuff. They came out after Half Time to start the 3rd on a tear. That shows you what they are capable of doing at any time. Both teams have alot to be proud of. I think the game at Silsbee will be a great one.
  13. Bucof2010-I think everyone but Tigervoice understood what you meant. You made an analogy of the game and it seems to have substance. Some people just feel the need to make rediculous comments just to make a post. I was at the HJ/Silsbee game tonight and witnessed their sportsmanship from the stands. His post is pretty much in line with what I experienced tonight. Good Luck EC with your team and classy fans.
  14. HJ played a very tough opponent in St. Thomas and it came down to the wire. I think it will take a team equivelant to St. Thomas to beat HJ Friday nite. Not sure if Silsbee is that team. HJ 77 Silsbee 63
  15. The big guy for St. Thomas is the real deal. I think last nites game is going to be a blessing for the Hawks in the long run. To face a team with that many threats (speed and size) and hang as tuff as they did should make all Hawk fans proud. Chappel Hill was very quick but that big guy from St. Thomas was a force. And like all Hawk games, they were in it till the end. Hawks, Good Luck Friday Nite.
  16. EC has played HJ a couple of times before and played man to man and were beat by 20+ each game. This game they played zone and HJ shoots poorly from the outside. Normally HJ tears it up outside against zones but not tonight. Good coaching by EC. HJ missed the few free throw opportunities they were given. If you don't get many chances you need to make them count. The subject of referee's is usually out of my comments but I will make 1. HJ does play aggressive defense. I"m sure they will foul more than most teams during the course of the year. But the results usually pay off. Give a little to get a lot. Do I think the fouls on each end of the court were called the same on the same type plays. "NO". But that is basketball in SETX. If you go to another gym you are going to have nights like that. I know people think that way about HJ at times. Anyway, the kids had nothing to do with referees so both teams players are to be congradulated for a great game and sportsmanship. Great game and good luck to EC and HJ for the remainder of their district season. Both will be in the playoffs and I will be pulling for you both to get to state and bring home the trophies.
  17. I appreciate the site information. My intent on this thread was have everyone comment on their teams to date (progress, regress, injuries, future expectations, etc). Most people can't make all the games and I enjoy reading the different perspectives everone brings to the site. The records part was for reference while reading the comments.
  18. What are the records of all Teams in 21-3A including year to date and district records. Plus any insite on the directions teams are heading as the year has unfolded.
  19. HNIC--You just don't understand. People who have posted alot become smarter than the average bear!! Their ideas should hold more weight since they knew about this sight before you. While some new posters may be cute (as stated earlier), I must admit some of the oldtimers on this sight are just down right hilarious.
  20. Very well said!! These athletes deserve our respect.
  21. I haven't watched Kountze (but have heard good things) play this year but I have seen EC play against HJ a couple of times. When EC added their big man to the picture their team really improved. And Thomas is a tremendous BBall player. If I weren't going to the Hawks game this would be the one I would go watch. Good Luck to both Teams.
  22. Does anyone know where the game was played?
  23. anyone know the latest?
