1.
Didn't realize Silsbee is losing 6..... I believe they only had 6 on their JV....
That is alot of Seniors (6) for a team that also only has 7 or 8 on varsity to start with. Not too often a team looses their whole varsity after a season.
 2. Bridge City at Silsbee by 10 HF at WOS by 10 OF at HJ by 3 (home court advantage pick)
 3. I was wondering what the issue was. Either way, the refs really struggled this game. And I'm trying to be nice!!
 4. I pray the Central girl makes a fast recovery. The Ozen lady should not be allowed to play any sport again. Period!!
 5. LaLa Moore  HJ K. Bernson HJ Don't knowtheir names but the 2 girls from Lumberton from 3 or 4 years ago. They were very good.
 6.
Gamble is a different coach... Gamble does more to protect leads than he does to create a spread.  Gamble played a slow set-up ball that was very guard dominated.  Basically he put the onnice on his guards to run the half court offense so well that it cannot be stopped.  The press was used to create leads or get back into games, but Gamble was a half court guy. This Yates team is a press all day team like Wheatly of the past.  They play one way!!! These kids even press on the park courts.  If your guards are good enough or deep enough to slow the game down, you can beat them.  They are very athletic and it is less about overall talent.  They are beating teams that are MORE talented than they are.  The depth is magnified because of the system that they run. Every kid has brought into the 32 minutes of heck philosophy and they play it well.  Yes they have been COACHED to that level.  Yates has had these same type of athletes in the past, Wise just turned it into a winning formula.  Fact of the matter is that he did not press anywhere nar as much at Hightower because they had good bigs.  His style played out differently.  Bellaire is obviously and grossly more talented but Yates would beat the breaks off of them! He has inhereted a team of athletic short guys so he leans to his stregnth.  Young is very talentd. Peters is a freaky athlete, and Gardner is a really solid shooter.  Elton Roy is a sleeper.  But no more TALENTED than Skip, Garrett, Davis, Young or Perk, Marshal, Young, Thomas or Ford, Taylor, McFarlin, Ewing.  Two of those three team won State and one made it there.  Two of them were National #1 teams, just like Yates might be.  Central's team wasn't as deep but the starting five was just as, if not more, talented.
Yates can only play one way? Finally someone admitted they can and have. Just goes to show everyone that what they did the other night was preventable. I don't care about Yates one bit. Yates is too far away for my give a poop factor. But I don't agree with the way the game played out and I truely believe most of the people that are trying to defend them don't really agree either. Just too good of a fight to pass up. Anyway, It's when you say one thing and completely contradict yourself 5 lines later is when you should consider giving up the fight and just go on to something else.
 7. I agree. He is by far the best announcer in the area.

 9.
Usually I don't make predictions on Orangefield. But I guess I can since I don't have a kid playing anymore. Orangefields defense will be the difference. Their offense is struggling right now but defense wins championships. Orangefield by 10. Here is another prediction. If they get everyone healthy they will win district. ;D
I know OF has been hit hard by the injury bug this year and I hope they all make it back soon. Still, do you think ya"ll could throw in a toe cramp every now and then so the district race isn't determined so early. That takes the fun out of the season for the rest of us.
 10. I'm going to pull a Bobcat and say the game will be closer than games in the past but OF still pulls it out.

 12. Both teams lost their district openers and are looking to get into the win column. Any predictions??
 13. OF started with a nice win and WOS lost to HJ in a real good game. Any Predictions??

Only question is if Kingwood Park can upset BH at home later this season before finishing 2nd to a VERY good BH team. The other teams are weak to very weak. Even GCM might get a playoff game this yr.
Does GCM have a Senior Class. I know we played them either last year or the year before and I don't think they had a Senior Class at that time.
Yes, this is their first year to have a senior class (as well as K-Park).
That in itself should help make them more competetive.
 16. That is my point exactly. Dunks can have a positive effect on the team doing the dunks (as long as they act like they've been there before) and a negative effect on the other team, if that team allows it. If the other team looks at it as just 2 points they have won the mental side of the play of which they have control. Especially when they were dunked on 3 plays and scored 3 easy layups after those dunks while the other team is congratulating themselves. The best thing about the easy layups was HJ immediately got back into their defense after each one of them. What a concept!!

 18.
from what i've seen of the games in this area if Kountze learns to pass the ball and some ball control they will beat anyone in this area but until they get less selfish with the ball and make better decisions its iffy :(
Until Kountze realize's that dunk's are only 2 points they will continue to get beat by the HJ's of the world. Against lesser teams they may have some emotional impact on the other team. They game plan them and then they celebrate as if each dunk was a game changing event. Poor HJ only celebrated twice and that was at the end of each game...Oh yeah, Kountze is still celebrating the dunks and HJ is still celebrating too. 2 WINS!!! I'm just saying..Shack
 19. 21-3A District Opener for both teams: HJ  63 WOS  56
 20. Very well played game by both teams. WOS started fast and HJ didn't which resulted in WOS taking about a 10 point lead into the half. HJ came out strong in the second half, closed the gap and then took the lead. HJ made several crucial freethrows down the stretch to secure the victory. WOS is much improved over the past few years and will be in the hunt for a playoff spot. #11 for WOS is very good as was #40. Sorry, but I don't know the girls names. Congrats to HJ for a great come from behind win....
 21.
What do you think of this one Poppabear??? S elf Satisfied W ishes Kountze could beat HJ A rrogant G oes home before the final buzzer sounds
Well, we know he's done that twice!!
 22. WOS travels to HJ tonight to open District 21-3A for both teams. Any thoughts??
 23. Lamar beats Yates 170-25 and all the Yates Supporters will want Lamar's Coach to be fired!!!!
 24. Swag, I agree with what your saying. I just don't know if you realize what you are saying!!! You make comments about HJ playing 2A schools as if 2A is no possible threat to HJ. HJ is only 3A and not a big 3A either. If someone from outside our area read this board and didn't know better they would think HJ is a 5A school the way you talk about them playing down. You may not realize it but you are actually giving HJ a compliment everytime you try to discredit them. Thank you for that!! Anyway, we all know EC has had good teams in the past and even Kountze from time to time. But you keep refering to HJ's record as a 2A driven accomplsihment. I again agree with some of what your saying. By no means should HJ schedule Kountze in the future. Why should they?? This year is proof positive that a great 2A Kountze can't beat a HJ team with 1 good player and no shooters. And they did it not once but twice, so why would they even think about scheduling them again. No reason to be accused of padding their record as you have said. Again, I agree with you, HJ playing any 2A school should be considered senseless if Kountze is the best 2A has to offer. I'm just sayn: shack ;D ;D ;D
