Who has the Best Basketball Team in Hardin County???
hawkdad replied to swagg's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The funny thing about most of these comments is Kountze talking alot of trash about a team (HJ) that not only beat them but beat them in Kountze on their own court, making only 25% of their free throws that night and did it with a "one man" team. And to top it off, everybody else on the team is crap!! Come on guys. Did getting your butts whipped effect you that bad. Just let it go. There is always tomorrow. Don't live bitter in the past. Learn from the past and move on. Bottom line, you don't play in the same district as HJ or Silsbee. Neither team stands between you and a state title. So why is it so important to you to here people say you are better than them. You need to worry about the next "one man" team you face in 2A and try to figure out how to stop that "one man" when your playoff life depends on it! Because I can guarantee you "he" is coming!!!! -

HJ played 5A South Houston High School this morning at 9am and HJ won 37-31. They play again today at 1:30 but opponent is unknown at this time. Still waiting on results of other games. Congrats Hawks -
Congrats Katie and good luck. It was truly a pleasure watching you play the past couple of years for GTS. I loved the intensity you brought to the field every practice and game. You took the younger kids on your shoulders and made them better as well. That's the sign of a great leader and it's that mentality that got you where you are today. Have fun at TWU and tell "Glove Man" to keep us posted on your success.

In this case it's also Bobcats way of begging for help -
Boy, you "stat" guys sure use alot of space to prove a point.. I personally think Charlie Kerfield had a great swing for a big man. Sorry, no stats, although I think he only batted twice. Google that for me Mc.

Man Wildcatter, you sure spend alot of time saying the same thing over and over and over again. I guess if you start the thread it makes it ok. That is why you started the thread isn't it? So you can say the same thing over and over and over and over again. No wait, you watched 15 games this summer from the concession stand, right? OK, that qualifies you to say the same things over and over and over and over again. Lets break it down!! You don't think HJ will be that good this year. Ranked too high. Turner not that good of a scorer. HJ has noone else to score. You don't think HJ will be that good this year. Ranked too high. Turner not that good of a scorer. HJ has noone else to score. Why would anybody want to be in "the loop". Sounds like to me you may want to get out of "the loop".

Taylor McGill - Hardin Jefferson Softball players commits

Congrats Taylor. I know you will do great at the next level-- Good Luck -
I don't know if there is "The Perfect Program" but I do believe there are programs that attempt to make the players perfect. Now, we all know that players will not ever be perfect, but the quest for perfection will definitely make them as good as they can possibly be. This is going to start with practice. As the great Vince Lombardi was quoted back when he coached the Packers to many Super Bowl wins, "Practice does not make perfect" but "Perfect Practice does". Find the program that expects perfect practice. Now, we all know that as kids get older they get faster and stronger. I believe many confuse this with "getting better". Saying they are better players can be true to a degree. But I have seen many kids get stronger and faster only to have other kids that are also getting quality coaching pass them by. Find the program with quality coaching. Research their credentials for success. We all know "exposure" is the key to all of this, right? This is what it's all about. What is the program going to offer me in terms of exposure. Also, will the coach ensure that you are ready when you get in front of the college coaches. First impressions last forever. Has the team performed on a consistant basis when given the opportunity to showcase their talents. Many college coaches will spend alot of their time looking at specific teams before they ever wonder over to where the lesser known teams are playing. Has the program built a reputation where they are one of the teams the college coaches go to watch? Have they been one of those teams for a while or are they an up-and-coming. Find one of those programs. You will definitely get more exposure. Lastly, you need to make sure the player in question really wants to be the best they can be. Don't look for that "program" if you are satisfied with where you are with your skill level. The good programs are going to try to make good players great. Some kids don't want to put in the time to be great. They just want to wake up one morning and somehow over nite a miracle happened and they are the best there is. Sorry, but that ain't going to happen!! The character of a player is determined by what she will do to actually be the best player she can be. Have a coach push her to be the best and welcome the challenge. During my years of coaching baseball and softball I have come to the realization that no player is ever going to be perfect, but it's sure fun watching good players become great players by trying to be perfect players. Find the program that "TRIES" to be perfect and you can't go wrong.

My opinion on this matter is pretty much the same as most I have read. My take on the players--If what you are doing is so right then why not tell the coach earlier. Why not give him the opportunity to replace you? Contrary to the beliefs of some there are no players that can't be replaced, all you need is the time to do it. Why not give him that time. I know if the tables had been turned on the players doing this that the post would be outrageous by certain posters on here. Now, my biggest concern is for the younger girls who are obviously being enfluenced by older girls that already have their road paved for them. Someone needs to talk to these younger girls and let them know how important these years are for them to be in the right place and ensure they have the same opportunities the older girls have already taken advantage of. I know some of the Nederland girls and coached them with Mc and sure hate to see this happen to them. While some people will present this as a good thing can they actually say the younger kids are going to really benefit from this. They can't guarantee them that because none of this is proven!! But the organization the older girls came from is proven. Just ask them if they have scholorships!!!

Heck Poppa, That's how you shoot without any pressure ;D ;D

HJ vs. Coldspring Updates....HJ Wins!!!
hawkdad replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats Lady Hawks. Getting healthy at the right time. Keep it going!! -
The best thing for HJ is for Coldspring to think they have them figured out!! If the Hawks are healthy enough this game where Coach Sims believes the girls can hold up to 4 full quarter's of pressing I really like our chances. HJ by 10!!

Just forget everything about last year's game and go take care of business!!!
