Congrats OF. Again you played more consistant and were the better team tonight. As for my Hawks, lets find out whats wrong with our heads and fix it. This is 11 of the past 12 quarters the Hawks have played (HF 4th Quarter was typical HJ basketball) that I didn't recognize this team. Absolutely no where near our best play or even our average play. The problem may be several girls being sick which is understandable, but you still have to play smart, sound and intelligent basketball or quality teams like OF will take advantage of it everytime. Now, I don't want OF fans to think I'm downplaying their effort tonight. You did what it took to win the game and that's what it's all about. I've just seen HJ play 25 games this year against several quality teams and the past 3 games have not been a good representation of just how good HJ can play. The good part of all this is we haven't played a playoff game yet so we have time to clear our heads and turn this thing around. The officials tonight were very consistant, allowed the girls to play but kept things in check. You couldn't have asked for anything more. Again, congrats to OF.

Hawks JV won against HF but I'm not sure exactly what the score was. I think 50+ to 20+. The Lady Hawks completed district play undefeated. Congrats to the coaches and players.

You are right Bobcat, this rivalry won't end anytime soon. I did forget freshman Denisha Tyler. She would give LaLa a run for her money in a race right now. She has been injured all year but should make an immediate impact when she's healthy next year. We are very excited about HJ's future as I'm sure OF is about theirs.

For HJ both of the tall girls (2) on the JV team are freshman and 2 point guards are freshman. We have 4 soph on JV and 3 soph on varsity including the 6ft post.

Congrats OF. A very well played game. As for my Hawks-so many in and out shots combined with several missed 2 footers spelled doom. It was just one of those games. LaLa never got on track offensively and she is so vital to our sucess. I do believe the officiating was a little suspect at best. Seems any foul that could have gone either way went against the Hawks with the one ref, but you have to deal with that and overcome it. On the point side of the game I am surprised the score was within 10 points the majority of the game the way HJ executed. If they can be that off and keep it respectable I like their chances next time. As for OF, you played steady for 4 quarters and deserve the win. Congrats again. Also congrats to the Hawks JV. Any word if OF will be able to have enough girls for the JV game? And if they don't will that change the time for the Varsity game?

Yes,I was referring to local teams as I think that was the intent of the thread. I'm not going to proclaim I know the talent level of all the schools within a 100 mile radius. I really don't care what teams in Houston are doing anyway. Now, do I think Silsbee could beat 4A and 5A schools outside this immediate area. I guess they could probably beat alot of them. But it would only be a guess. Anyway, my post was more on the side that few people gave Silsbee any chance against Ozen and then gave every excuse in the book why it was as close as it was. I believe that game in itself had something to do in part with this thread being started. Your last sentence inplied you think Im from Silsbee but I'm HJ all the way!! Just trying to get Silsbee and other talented 3A schools their due when deserved.

While it may not be the norm I think every now and then you can have a small school that happens to have the right kids playing together at the right time that can beat alot of excellent large schools. Of course the odds (enrollment) say this won't be a common accurance but it does happen. Larger schools may have trouble admitting it though. The larger school's always seem to have an excuse why this game was close and that getting beat by the smaller school was only a fluke, but in reality the cards just fell the right way for the smaller school as far as talent that given year. The larger schools need to eat a little crow and give credit where credit is due. Silsbee is that smaller school this year!!

I watched this game and the truth is Kirbyville had several opportunities to score. They just happen to shoot and miss. This includes freethrows. HJ backed off big time after the first period. And it allowed Kirbyville several open shots. I'm not saying the shots were completely uncontested but you can't expect girls to turn their back on a play so the other team can score. I doubt Kirbyville would want that either. Kirbyville had a bad night but I'm sure they will recover.

A good game by the Hawks. Moore and Sutherland each had 3 fouls in the first quarter and neither played in the 2nd or 3rd periods. The younger girls stepped in and did a great job in their place. Keep it going ladies!!!

To answer your question, right or wrong, there is no positive that comes from any of these posts. Even though there is no positve promotion, it does paint an accurate picture of the programs that are mentioned. That is what is a shame. It paints an accurate picture of the program as seen in the eyes of the poster!! Now, is the posters eyes the sentiments of everyone involved? I doubt that very much. So do you believe everything other people write as being fact? That wouldn't be too smart. Do we not agree that many statements written as fact are sometimes filtered by someones personal agenda? I think we have all seen this before. So do I think negative comments about coaches/umpires bring a negative light over a team? Not in my opinion. It usually brings a negative light on the poster. Hey, think about it, he came on here to do it!!!

Well, you pull for the local team to win and this is how they respond to you for doing this. Show me where HJ said anything negetive towards Silsbee. This goes to show you that when some people lose they feel compelled to lash out at anyone they can. Even if it is the people on their side. Geesh--take it like a man and go on. To the other Silsbee Fans, Players and Coach's--Great Season. You have a great nucleus of players and you should be right back in the thick of things next year. Congrats on this years accomplishments!!!

This is a pretty ridiculous thread. A comment made after the last game of the season (which happened to be a loss this year). How convienent to post it now.. HJ wins with pride and loses with dignity. We (HJ) appreciate our coachs and players and know we are very lucky to have them all. HJ has the best coach's top to bottom in the area. Doesn't always guarantee you will win every game, but it comes real close. The kids still need to execute. And for 35 games this year that is exactly what happened. Man, this is one ridiculous comment to be made at a sad time of the year!!!

Congrats Silsbee on a great win. I never would have dreamed ya"ll would have had that much left in the tank after that great 2 O/T game Friday nite. Good Luck at the State Tourn. We will be pulling for you. Also, Congrats to my Hawks players and Coaches. Hey, as much as we would like, it's hard to win them all. Last year everything was set for HJ to win State. This year it looks like it's Silsbee's turn. Congrats to Silsbee Players, Coaches and Fans. Don't leave anything on the table up in Austin!!

As a whole this was not even close to being one of the Hawks best games. Have some corrections to make before Saturday's game. It's showtime!!!!

Silsbee played a great game tonight. Lost a couple of players fouling out and continued to bring it to Crockett. HJ seems to do whatever it takes to win games. They don't think they can be beat. Two very dangerous teams. It will be a classic Saturday. Great for 21-3A!!!!

However the game turns out tommorrow Silsbee showed it is a great team and will fight to the end. Great Job Guys. See ya"ll tommorrow.

They are trying to graduate our juniors a year early. They still have some ball to play..

This is what HJ fans and players have grown accustomed to and basically spoiled to; the fact our coach's continue to put our kids in position to win games. You have to be able to recognize what the other team is doing to effect the outcome of a game and all of our coach's are very good at this. If changes need to be made after the start of the game, they are made. If they need to be made at halftime, that's what is done. If it means drawing up a play in the sand with a stick, that's just fine with us!! Who cares who is holding the stick????

HJ takes this one by 15. Sutherland will not let HJ repeat Tuesday's 4th quarter performance again and Connally should not be as good as Navasota!!
