That I had a reason to want to be closer to my dad who lived in Port Arthur? We'll, obviously Coach Tidwell and Coach Woodard thought is was the right thing to do in adding an additional home game and dropping SD. Again, if we were talking about UT, A&M, Tech, Baylor there wouldn't be a negative thing posted because the CONTRACT had a buyout clause.
Just looks like you are putting your resume on this site.....I  have a hard enough time getting my HS kids to believe that your word means something, and then Lamar pulls this.....
My resume, you are kidding, right? I just named the places I've worked the past 15 years. I didn't list salary, job duties and etc. I'm not making it personal. You guys are by calling out the AD at Lamar University and if my memory serves me correct one of you also had problems with Coach Tubbs. You might want to look at your on lives before you judge another man. Then posting them on a public forum.
You better be careful about pointing a finger on this one.....I have never had a problem with Billy Tubbs.

Better hope company B works out for ya....aint getting any references from Ole company A like I said before, I have nothing against playing IW...but SD go hosed
No, it isn't money is green isn't it? There is no difference as "your word is your word", right? I'm sure if there was a signing bonus you would have to pay company A back. Company B has worked out great for me, as I had a job in Houston a Hermann Memorial, then Christus called and offered more and I was able to be closer to my father who was dying of cancer. If it wasn't for personal issues, I was perfectly happy at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. ;) As for references, I'm doing pretty good as I've worked for Baylor Medical Center, Harris Methodist and Christus St.Elizabeth. Three Top 100 hospitals in the US and my nursing school was #1 in the state of Texas. I would post my GPA, but I'd that would probably be bragging too much.  :D :D
Need I say more.....
 4.
Let's say you get a job offer from company A. They are going to pay you $80,000 annually and including benefits you will get 2 weeks vacation a year. You accept the offer and sign a contract. Then a couple days later company B calls and is offering $100,000 annually and 4 weeks vaction. What do you do? Stay with company A since you signed a contract or call company A. and tell them you received a better offer and you are going to work for company B. If you stay with company A. well you are more loyal than most. If you break the contract and sign with company B. you are no better than Lamar. Please do email Dr Simmons. I'd love to hear if he bothered to reply. You are entitled to your opinion but that is why they have a buyout clause in the contract. It happens all the time in college athletics. BTW, mffl, JJWooten and coachacola since to agree with me. You might like to re-read the post. You and Puddin are the only one who have posted negative reactions to Coach Tidwell dropping SD.
Why not at least get a response from at least an assistant in Dr Simmons' Office? Has he now gotten too big for the "Little People?"
 5.

Shame on Lamar... All indications are that they failed to properly notify South Dakota of their change of plans. Very SWAC-like. Prairie View A&M released a schedule after SHSU did and did not inform SHSU of the change. Did USD get caught off-guard? That's what I want to know and that is what if you read between the lines, occurred. If Lamar announced the schedule without telling South Dakota, they are in the wrong and there's no ifs, ands or buts about it. Have no problem with pulling out and paying the buyout, but that's a communication fallacy.
You don't know the facts Texas Terror. Who do you think made the call at Lamar A. Coach Woodard or B. the AD Coach Tidwell. Well, the correct answer is B. Coach Tidwell wanted another Sept. game at home for the football team. You or anyone else who doesn't like the call he made, then look up his # or email him.
1. Don't get snippy because we think it was a bush league move, it was. 2. I have e-mailed Coach Tidwell, I have received no response. 3. If I don't receive a response, who do I contact next? Dr Simmons?
 6.
This wasn't a handshake deal with South Dakota, they had a written contract with a buyout clause.  Evidently the contract allows Lamar to buyout the game for $100K so what's the big deal?  Maybe SD shouldn't be signing contracts with buyout clauses if they don't like their opponents exercising that right.
Still not right. Costs us $100,000....How much will Lamar make for playing.... that POWERHOUSE oF the Lone Star Conf. IW? You know if we were Texas or LSU with an established program, you might be able to do something like this, but Lamar just starting out needs to be clean right now to everyone.

USD AD is overreacting, they'll get $100,000 pay day that they can spend on another home game for them.
Agreed. I can understand their frustration but it happens all the time, across college sports.
Still doesn't make it right. And who do we play? A Div. II school. Come on......
 8. No, it is a classless act. An agreement is an agreement.
 9.
This is pathetic.  And, honestly, that isn't a strong enough term.   I agree with you, Cards.  Roc's lineup decisions are arbitrary and at this point appear to be driven by either spite or complete, bipolar desperation. I'll make it clear: if you look at my post from the end of last year, I was OK with giving Roc one more year.  I wasn't one of the folks dying to run him out of town after last season, unacceptable as it was.  I wanted to see Roc succeed: he bleeds Lamar red, he works hard, this was the job he wanted, and, yes, he had a quality rep as a recruiter.  I really hoped that he would get the job done. It was clear he felt the pressure: he went out and recruited a boatload of scorers.  I was happy--a lack of shooters to me was the biggest problem the team had the last two years.  The guys were athletic, more so than I had seen at Lamar in my time watching them.  But what has happened this year only serves to validate every criticism hurled at Roc by his detractors over the last few years.  With the talent on this team, there is no excuse for this team not to be in the top 2 or 3 in the conference.  To finish out of the conference tournament--again--is so far beyond "unacceptable" it isn't even funny.  In reality, I'm not sure what has happened in the last three weeks doesn't justify *immediate* termination--the season is lost, and at this point, I think Roc is more likely to go Bob Knight (the chair-throwing, player-choker--not the player-graduating tactical guru) than turn this thing around. I've been a basketball season ticket holder for fifteen years.  At no time did the thought of not renewing my season tickets *ever* cross my mind.  Not after last year.  Not during the Deane era.  Never.  Not once.  Just in case any of the powers that be read this board, I will make it clear: if Roc is back to coach this team next year, I will not be back.  I do not demand success every year--even the greatest coaches, coaching at the most reputable schools, have had bad years.  On the other hand, I *do* demand a commitment to excellence: an understanding that LU will do its utmost to make the programs at LU as competitive as possible.  If they bring back a coach who has demonstrated immaturity, incompetency, and incoherence, I must make the assumption that LU doesn't really want to win--and that I can not accept, nor do I feel any obligation to support it.
Best analysis I have read. I knew the game was on when I left school. Instead, listened to the "Classic Rock" station on XM. I generally listen to KLVI for every game. I decided  not to be disappointed. Didn't know the score until I saw the news.
 10. I listen to nearly every game on KLVI and it's like we can't figure, or won't figure, or some sort of figure, how to win......It is like we need to start over.
 11.
Why would anyone not want a man to better his situation in life? Coach Alvarez has proven he can perform in the job and teachers retirment depends on their pay level in the last few years they teache. This is something anyone should be concerned about, their own life. I hope he finds what ever it is that makes him happy. Maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's money in the later years.
I can't say I blame him concerning the money. If he get paid the $100K that has been rumored, that really helps bump up the money toward retirement. Look, many, many administrators plan there last years in education to be their best paid. Teachers generally aren't so lucky. We traditionally are stuck with whoever will have us at the end of our careers.
agree or the best I ever watched ;D
And Ivory was a good kid.
 13.
Is a gun collection truly ever complete?
No, it isn't.
 14. I can't remember it raining anytime at my house this December. Was in Northeast Texas and the stock ponds were all way down for for this time of year. If those people do not get rain to fill those ponds, they'll be in a mess in July. Coop, if you read this, how much rain can we expect Christmas Eve/Day, if we get any rain?
 15.
Actually Abatemarco was and is a very good coach. His ignorant big mouth got him fired. He could turn LU mens team around fast.
I remember him hating on Patrizi's Italian Restaurant while he was here...... Why can't we get a decent basketball coach? Is it the recruits? Is it his X's and O's? Is it the amount of gel in his hair? I thought Coach Roc was a better coach...What is wrong?
 16.

all the talk about FBS..moving to the WAC or  the Sunbelt...take away the 4 teams that are jumping the sinking WAC ship.....none of the other teams in either conference has a winning record... if we were to ever move, I'd prefer the Sunbelt,  cuz of the cajuns...but these 2 conferences suck!
agreed.  Plus we need fan support.  the last 2 games attendance was disappointing.  the two wins at the end of this season should set us up with a lot of momentum heading into next year. Not shocked, hate to sound pessimistic, but it has been like this for 50+ year that I am aware of......Local folks go to the games( or civic centers or restaurants) because it is new, then they taper off.....I wanted to finally be able to go to the game last night, but had family obligations. ( I have several former student involved in non-football, band, drill team etc.) Also, you need to remember, there are a lot of Lamar fans who are also PNG, WB or local high school fans and they went to their high school playoff games and you have to remember in SE Texas high school football is still king.
17. Sad, sad night...He was one of a kind.  :'(

 21. I can't say I blame them.....Build a basketball arena with classes still in portable buildings??? Classes should be first, athletic facilities second. [Hidden Content]
 22. I don't know how I could really vote.....I have not been in BISD's stadium yet.......Has anyone???
 23. I am a band alumnus and I am just a bit disappointed in the new band uniforms. I just saw them in the Cardinal Cadence I received in today's mail. I don't know what I was looking for, but I'm a bit disappointed. :-\ Maybe I miss the old white pants we could only get cleaned at Zenith Cleaners down on Railroad.
 24. Thanks. I will be in Beaumont on Monday. I will loop by Kampus Korner on my way home.
