That way they won't be too suprised when we beat them again this friday. ;D (Gotta love the Sun's in-depth journalism)
Nederland lost to Crosby in the playoffs last year not GCM. 20 4A 19 4A 24 14 33 13 38 7 30 8 ----------------- 125 42 OUCH! All I remember in the last five years was how big a chasm ONE point created, you know 8 to 7. :D ;) -
One thing I do know 20-4a is gonna be crazier than last year!
LOL, maybe this is a good time to remind our Raiders that they've never lost on PNG's new carpet. :D

So is this game The Village Creek Classic or The Village Creek Shootout like it used to be called, that sure sounds better? -
Dayton posters -- a question please
Yep...the entire starting Defense moved along with any offensive players with d-1 potential. This happened immediately after Hardin ran up the score on Liberty. Man, Dayton is so screwed....
Not to worry, I heard the entire WOS offense and defense transferred to Dayton because they wanted to play in 4a, unfortunately, they weren't able to provide a kicker. -

Strange?
BS's sports reporter was over in Lumberton reporting how good BH was doing in their loss. ;D

NEDERLAND VS BARBERS HILL PREDICTIONS

I predict that the Baytown Sun will talk about how much better BH played in this loss than a sloppy Nederland team who just got some lucky breaks. :o ::) :D -
Hardin-Jefferson @ Anahuac predictions
raideroldtimer replied to Hawks2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Anahuac by alot. -
Geez, I figured it would be LU's Branden Thomas, dang hit hit the Mcneese player so hard he knocked the guys helmet off and knocked the ball loose. PLUS he knocked himself out! if that's not hard hitting I don't know what is, just wish we had it on film.
I would have to say that Ozen is definately talented enough to be a playoff team and i truly believe they will. They are getting better each week and thats wut you need to get there. They will shock :o some "Giants" in 20-4A this year. Central I do believe this is not your year! Washington reminds me of Clayton after he took over Coach Brook's Ozen playoff team. He rode Brook's team to the playoffs the first year. After the first year it was his turn to win and he couldnt do it. Same thing may be happening in Central's camp. Stowers set Washington up nicely. Now its his turn and they suck so far. :'(
Considering the years that Washington has been there, I'm not sure this analogy flies, he may have been the second fiddle but he was tuned in the same fights as Stowers.

Somebody called it right in an earlier post somewhere, with Vidor it is going to depend on which team shows up. -
I agree. Gonna be close. Didn't the LTrain do this last year also to start out the season?
Yes, yes we did and had it not been for the fence around the stadium, the Raiders probably would have ran JJ all the way back to Silsbee, their rushing yardage from last year per Ipreps 22/-42 and the minus is not a mistake. -
Question about weight on refs
raideroldtimer replied to magnus1on1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Do high school officials get graded through out the year? In reguards to the Vidor BC officials they were not biased they just were not very good at there jobs. I dont blame them are any group of officials for loses because everyone makes mistakes but these guys were clueless. They were the worst I have ever seen and they were bad for both teams.
High School refs are looked at quite often, sometimes for their knowledge and other times for recruitment possibilities (Most higher level refs came from the ranks of high schools). Are there some out there who lack integrity, you can bet your butt there is, but just like in anything else, they are the exception not the norm. I can remember one time when an official scouting other officials visited them during half time and the words he imparted to them about their in game behavior were very unflattering in no certain terms. But again that's the exception, btw, the reason I know about the incident is because I'm related to that particular official that was scouting. As far as their health is concerned, I know my brother, who officiates college level now, is constantly working out and running to stay in shape although I've never thought to ask him if there is a minimum physical standard, I'm pretty sure he at least has to get a physical exam each year. I will tell you these guys do it for the love of the sport, my brother missed countless games his two daughters participated in because of games elsewhere as he rarely had Lumberton games. My dad also, rarely if ever saw me or my brothers or sisters participating in the games for the same reason in the 45 years he refereed. At one time a referee couldn't call a hometown game but I believe the rules have changed due to shortages. Sometimes I think that I wouldn't mind getting in the family business ;), but geez guys, I barely even run to the bathroom, plus I'm just too fixated on being a Lumberton Raiders fan and don't want to miss our games. This early in the year, they are going to make mistakes, number one they are a little rusty and number two they have to incorporate whatever new rules came out this year. Plus the fact that they may be calling games with a new or partially new crew and they are still learning to work together. Next time you go to raising cane over what you think was a blown call, why don't you stop and think "Would I have made that same call? Am I willing to get out there and learn the rules to even attempt to make those calls?". Maybe then you won't come down so hard on that man out there who doesn't know you or your son/daughter from Adam and yet he's willing to get out there, sometimes driving quite a few miles, to try and keep the game fair for all those involved in playing it. -
20-4A after 4 district games who ya got?

Central will be a better team for playing better competition.
But would they have lost by a combined score of 93-7? Probably not. From WHAT I'VE SEEN SO FAR, Central has not been very good. Last year WB beat them by 6, this year by 48. It would stand to reason that they have not started out very well...
You could put Lumberton and LC-M together and they would still be ran out of the stadium by West Brook and PA Memorial! Ozen and Central will be in the mix in this district and both will probably make the playoffs.
Yeoj, I'm not saying either team would beat WB or PAM, BUT, neither of us would be run out of the stadium. I think Ozen may be a surprise this year and I'm starting to think this just won't be Centrals' year. -
I wouldn't call Nacogodoches bad, but there is definately no excuse for LCM's defense giving up 53 (although they did score 2x defensively). LCM's defense is not nearly as well conditioned as they were last year, they weren't giving any effort in the second half. That being said, LCM-Lumberton in Week 3 should be a huge game. After 2: 1. PNG - Barely lost to one district champ, smashed another 2. Lumberton - Should get their first real test against Silsbee next week, then we'll see if I'm an idiot or not 3. Nederland - Sure WO-S killed them in week 0, but that didn't affect them the last two years. 4. Livingston - Not much to go on, Jasper obviously is struggling early 5. Ozen - West Brook is REALLY GOOD, and so far they are holding on against PAM 6. Vidor - Maybe Matt Menard is just that good 7. Central - I'm going on what I've seen, which is two massive butt whoopings.
So where's your own team in this mix? Are you undecided until the Lumberton game? -

Lumberton isnt as good as last years team, but they played way above their ability. I hope we can pull it together, or it could be a long long year. Come on Blue!!
What kind of bullcorn is this? How about Lumberton came out and whipped BH? Why discredit their team by saying they played way above their ability? Sounds like sour grapes to me, just sayin.
LOL, so Lumberton played way above their ability last night? Just like last week when they scored 56 points against Jasper or the live game scrimmage the week before when they downed GCM 17-7? Sorry friend but Lumberton is just that good this year. Idividually you might can say they play above their supposed ability although I think that's wrong too, but as a team they play like they've been taught.
