Went to watch my son put the pads on today and had trouble finding them. After sitting in my truck for about thirty minutes I finally decided to walk around the campus. I found them on the GAME FIELD. Back in my day that was off limits to practice. I asked my son why they went to the game field, and he said because the practice field was in bad shape. It had rocks, sticks, and asphalt coming up on it. I then asked why not practice on the other practice field which looked in great shape. He said that was reserved for the band. I fully support the band because my daughter was in it a few years ago, but they almost always practiced in the school parking lot. I personally think this is crazy that our boys have to practice on a non regulation field that has rocks an sticks in it. This is football for crying out loud. Can we please fix the issue.
Wow...that is terrible. Probably started because some cranky band parents pitched a fit when their kids weren't getting the same attention and "fair treatment" as the football players. Then, the school board fell to the pressure of said parent. Or at least, that would be the explanation at LCM
Just a thought, but doesn't the band deserve to practice on a "regulation field" also, considering that their marching routines depend on the yard markers and fields boundaries?

JMO
Doty is very valuable, but we have a back up that is very capacle. Hope he won't be needed, but led the JV very well last season. He's about the same size, and remember he is coached by a very good qb coach. As long as Faircloth is at PNG we will have good qb's.
Having a good QB coach doesn't always translate to having good QB's, you still have to have the talented individual to mentor. Fuller of Lumberton was a good QB coach but without talent at the position he couldn't produce a winning team. That's not saying that Faircloth isn't a good all around coach, just like Creduer is you just can't hang your hopes on one position.

New Scoreboard and Sound System @ Lumberton

It's about time, our sound system to me has been one of the worst around and that also explains why they didn't take any pains last year to repair the scoreboard as parts burned out. -
What offense does Png run? Didn't Livingston running game put up big numbers against every team in the District?
Livingston did have 4 big number rushing games, 2 over 300 yards and 2 over 200 yards, against PNG it was like 85 yards rushing. Unfortunately for Livingston they only won one of those four big yardage games (Ozen, they won 43-29). To their credit, one of their lowest total yardage outputs they upset Central 10-6 while only running up 172 total yards in offense, that yardage was gained entirely on the ground as they had 0 passing yards, an unusual occurence in these pass happy days of modern football. If their running back Quinton Jackson was not a senior, they will make a lot of noise this next year as he is a hoss.

Oh and the smack talk is great to. The moderators on this forum show great leadership in not allowing any post to denigrate a team or school, they do their best to promote and support Southeast Texas football. And for the less than 1 percent of you who tend to run off at the mouth when you post "denigrate" means put down.
Dayton has wanted to avenge the 8-7 loss in 2007 early @ Lumberton.Mine actually would be Sulphur Springs 2008 state title game in the Alamodome so we could've moved A.J into the position Peyton Ploch was to recieve 7 pooch kicks.Record 4A div 2 title game-117 tot.points scored.69-48 Final-1,200 + yds total offense.
LOL, that was a good came, it was the first one to show us that Coach Creduer actually had some huevos. I have two for that list although I don't remember the years. The first one would be against WOS, back when we had players like TJ Light and Terrance Kitchens, the particular game would be the one where WOS blocked our PAT and ran it back to their goal, we should've won that game. The second and the one I really would like to see would be Ozens' first year in varsity against Lumberton, I would like to see that one with referees coming from outside of the district and the coaches not having a say so in the ref choice. Lumberton won that game by 3 but it should have been by 6 due to a BS call by the refs who were clearly pulling for Ozen. That would have been Lumbertons' actual first trip into the post season, instead Ozen went even though we had a tie record because we supposedly had to beat them by 4 points, now-a-days we would have gone by virtue of our victory over them. The bad call was a field goal that was called no good, even though it landed on the entrance track behind the goal post at Lamar, anyone who has seen that field knows that you can't hit that track without the ball passing between the uprights and NO the ball didn't go underneath the crossbar either, I will never forget that game as I lost any possible respect for the Ozen football program that night due to a lot of bad hits.
that's because they are not expected to be playoff teams this year. But IMO May is a little early to count a team out.
Thats what i figured. Ozen haven't made the playoffs in five years but i will always support and represent them. :)
It's surprising that Vidor has fallen off the radar. I guess having so many seniors graduate does that, but remember they are always tough. Lumberton, i've seen folks pick them for last, that won't happen, they will be a bubble team like Nederland and Ozen. Not sure that LCM will have the gumption to move up into the top four but who knows and as usual the unknown is the little school way up in the woods, not sure what Livingston is expecting to have. PNG will be the one to beat with their renewed faith. Central is the opposite pole from Ozen, like Ozen they most always have some talented players, unlike Ozen, Central can usually put it together.

possible schedule conflict
i was looking at the 2010 schedule for png and found the 10/16 game versus ozen is on saturday @300pm(new bmt stadium).lamar is playing south alabama the same day in bmt(time not released).i cant stand high school games on saturday and im gonna be pissed if i have to choose.i could care less what you name the stadium just dont have games there during the day on saturday.im sure all the jr league players and coaches will be thrilled also.
Unfortunately when 3 schools use one stadium there are always going to be Saturday games. Thursdays are out because of JV amnd I would assume when two of the Beaumont schools JV's have home games, they will either play one early on Saturday or play at one of the old fields. -
LCM has from 14-16 returning starters (depending on how and when you count it.) They have 4 or 5 players from last year's freshmen team that will make immediate contributions. They have 10 players that will graduate 3-year starters, and lose none of the skill position players on offense, besides Johnny Epps, who started the first 5 games but was primarily cornerback the second half of the season. However, they do play both PNG and Nederland away, inexplicably, for the second straight year. Anyways... 1.PNG-losing a bunch, but PNG always is senior dominant. Faircloth really knows how to capitalize at such a football-crazy school. 1a. Central-also lost a bunch (i think losing Hale will hurt them worst.) However i seem to remember counting out last year's team for the same reason. The returning running back (Heard?) is legitimate 1b.LCM-obviously my favorite team, but with all those returners in the second year of Coach Crouch's system, with how much they improve from '08 to '09... 4.Nederland-Surely Forney will qb again next year, it's just surprising they didn't put him there sooner. I think, as far as returning players goes, Nederland is better off then Central or PNG 5.Lumberton-has Ryan's Hughes and Asher returning, as well as a host of will-be juniors and seniors. I see them being better than last year, but the loss of Jesse Sparks, Kyler Keith, Anthony Beard, etc will hurt them 6.Ozen-The two running backs are back, and that should keep them out of the district basement. 7.Livingston-I believe Blake Burnman was a junior. Also, they had a big sophmore rb who should be decent. But last year's team wasn't impressive and i don't see why this year's team will be any better. 8.Vidor-by far, the biggest disappointment of last season. You had a team with a huge number of returning starters, many of which had played varsity since their sophomore year. Vidor was the hot choice for district champs. They dominated non-district (albeit against lesser competition.) They ended up crawling into the play-offs and bowing out in the first round. They have no speed on a team with 3 returning starters. And btw, the fan's conduct at last seaon's homecoming game against LCM was shameful and embarrassing.
I hope Lumberton does at least this well, just not sure. L-Town could do much better if Hughes were moved to running back, Asher is a good kid just not a marquees player. Hughes on the other hand would make an outstanding running back but my understanding is someone close to him whines if he's not QB. Lumberton has a perfectly good back up QB that would make a great starter and personally after watching him run, Hughes I think would do himself much better college wise if he moved, he could be on the level of Hannah or Hussey I think. Just my opinion.

They could have sold the naming rights to the complex and then named the field after him if that is what they decided to do. Motiva, Goodyear, etc probably would have paid money to have their name on the complex. Poor thinking by the board.
Very good point. I believe the naming rights would have capable of bringing in serious dollars because of the location on I-10. I don't remember the exact numbers, but selling the name "Ford Park" generated some much needed revenue for the county.
Of which SMG sucked right back up......

Lady Raiders vs Lady Bulldogs
raideroldtimer replied to HJkeep's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First of all, last night's game was epic. I would have considered it a great game if it had gone either way but I am glad that Lumberton won. One thing I am wondering about though, in football before the game they talk about good sportsmanship from the players AND the fans and students, where does that go to by soccer season? Although last nights game was rough and should have had at least one more red card than there was, that gives noone the right to boo these young ladies and I heard that on our side. Also, it is inappropriate to congratulate a player who makes a flagrant foul. That being said, UIL, maybe you should consider requiring the sportsmanship speech before soccer games too. Good luck Lady Raiders, bring it home for us so maybe FF will finally shut up. -
If Lumberton comes into this game expecting an easy win, they will surely go home no longer in the playoffs. Central has gotten alot better and I think it is possible for them to pull off an upset, and come out with a win.
Something tells me this was prophetic, I couldn't believe Lumberton was for the most part keeping 5 men back in defense, the boys were giving the Jags way too much room all evening long. On the girls side, I kind of felt sorry for the other team, they honored the seniors before the game almost like they were giving up to start with. The lady Raiders took it to them too as it was 5 - 0 by the time I left at the half. -

Unless 7 other teams ramp up their games quite a bit, I don't see Lumberton being the cellar dweller anymore. Will they take district, I couldn't say, but you can bet Creduer will have them ready to play. They will get back in the playoffs sooner than later. BTW, to look at the unofficial schedules, Lumberton is going to have a real busy night October 22nd, it looks like we are playing, Nederland, PNG and Vidor all on the same night. :o
