Nope - not bad at all..for teaching... I don't know about the coaching side - They have had some really good teams in the past on both boys and girls side - but I have no idea what they have coming up. But for a young coach looking/wanting a head job -might not be bad place to get some experience.

I am looking at this area - Burkeville, Jasper, Newton, Brookeland, West Sabine, Woodville, Kirbyville - Burkeville is very competitive with teacher pay for schools in this area.

The recruitment process is very strange to me. I have a couple of girls getting a lot of interest from different schools but they are all out of state - California, Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, etc. while Texas schools seem to recruit their players from California, Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, etc.. lol SMH

WOW! How do you not talk to a McDonalds All American in your back yard?? That's crazy!

Not sure what they would offer for HC/AD but their teacher pay scale is actually one of the highest in the area.

Happens all the time at small schools...at big schools too.. School/community politics has run off many a good coach!

I didn't know that Livingston was open but got an email from the new coach yesterday. They hired Brittney Jefferson. She should have a very competitive team - a lot of girls returning off a team that won their district and made it to the regional quarter finals.

Maybe he can get the other programs there to keep their contacts and play the games they commit to. Congrats to Coach Bass - sounds like a quality guy!

Yeah - I am trying to remember the last time the UIL suspended a coach for recruitment..

AUSTIN, Texas — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions for UIL rule violations. Former Duncanville High School coach Cathy Self-Morgan was found guilty of recruiting violations and issued a three-year suspension from coaching and a public reprimand. Self-Morgan will be expected to appear before the State Executive Committee before coaching again at a UIL member school. The Duncanville High School girls basketball program was issued two years probation.
