**SETXsports Girls Basketball Rankings Dec. 8th**
Jdad replied to Cat22's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ is not just good they are the best team on your list. The TABC has been a joke so far just go back to your own post where you said Orangefield was ranked to high. At the end of the year it will be like last year with HJ and Koutze the ones going the deepest in the playoffs. ;D -
This game got cancelled
-
The game tonight was a perfect example of trying not to run up the score but HJ couldn't score for the other team. You keep talking about feelings. the winning team didn't benefit from that kind of game. The winner want get better unless they play competition. The tournament games just need to be scheduled better. Don't take a week team to a 4a tournament unless you can play. Tournaments should be scheduled so the best teams play the weaker teams in the first round so the consolation bracket is competitive. As the enterprises article about some tournaments schedule some of the best teams in the first round to get their team a easy road to the championship, in these tourneys there are a lot of blowouts. Thats poor sportsmanship.

If you think only the ranked teams are good your in never never land.OLGABE I don't put the OL in the same boat as the others. I see your work and everyone else should strive to do as good a job for the kids as ya'll do. When I talk about the poor local media for the girls the OL is never included! I would like to make a suggestion though how does the orange-hardinjefferson leader sound? I'll get a years subscription ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think the hurricane has something to do with why I haven't read much lately but, It is up to us to get it going because the girls want get any attention if we don't start hollering. Watching the sports and reading the paper after all the girls games this weekend only the ozen - central game got air. A disgrace for the media who only report boys scores. That is the way it will always be unless parents and fans start emailing and calling the media. This subject has come up before with only a few responses and that has to change. On another subject the TABC reads like the funny paper with a 4-7 jasper team at #17. No offense to them but they may feel a let down when they are not there anymore. If they won last year I would understand it more but that was not the case. Also last year the nederland parents where complaining about their coach and look at what they have accomplished so far, Great job girls. Just a few subjects to get things started and I didn't say anything about Orangefield yet. :D

From what I've read she's going through the same things as KK is. Their new coachs don't know what they have yet which is a shame but hopefully the girls stay with it and when they get the oppertunity the can show what they are made of. You can't measure heart and work ethic which these two have alot of and makes them special players who succeed without the height and other things that get kids looked at who don't have the heart are don't have the desire to work and succeed. When they each get that oppertuinty they will be very successful if they don't get down about there early playing time.

I am a little surprised that you are not sure about HJ's program and how successful they have been, a little knowledge might change your mind. Lets start with REGIONAL CHAMPIONS ( thats teams who made it to State ) 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91, 01, STATE CHAMPIONS 1986,1989 and there are 2 more years they made it to reginals but missed State. You can also add 97, 99, 00,01,04 BI-District Champions. Now I believe there is not another girls team with those kind of numbers and Kountze would probably be the closest. As for Bleed comments on Little Dribblers you can see where our Little Dribblers program started and the boys and girls teams started winning.

Its rare to be able to say that now days. We are lucky because as coachs we had the opportunity to talk to each other during our games and we realized that we were all there for the same reason. Our parents did not have that opportunity to experience anything but the rivalry. As a fan now I want to beat Orangefield and HF everytime we play because of the rivalry but, I was hurt when I read about the game agaist Navasota ( sorry to bring that up ) and I felt for the kids like I would if they were mine. I wanted to meet Orangefield in the Reginal Finals and beat them and also be proud of both teams for going so far.HF will be better next year and our rivalry will be more intense because of it. Bleed don't go anywhere just because your daughter is moving up, make sure you keep us informed as how well she will be doing. I'll do the same about KB.

After hearing from Tyler Junior College, Howard University, and Panola Junior College, Katelyn will sign with Tyler Junior College tomorrow. After completing a very successful high school career, she will be moving on to the next level to continue her basketball career. From JDAD and Jamie to KB: this is a great honor to you have earned and I'm proud of you and I know you will succeed at whatever you put your mind to. Congratulations!

All I got to say is ITS ABOUT TIME SOMEONE GOT SMART. This can be a great opportunity to show everyone what they missed out on. I believe if this is what you want you will be one of the best at that level and use it to get you to the next level. Its great to see the 3 21-3a players all get the chance to continue their playing days. Its says a lot about the level of play in this area and the talented young lady's who are here. If this is the opportunity you decide to take I know you will do very well. -
Looks like we need our coachs to join there club if we expect our kids to get the respect they deserve. I not saying they other girls aren't deserving but, the other 2 girls in 3a are as good as any players out there. They should post stats with all players. So everyone can see how well they played all season.

Congrats KB you are well disserving of this opportunity and I believe you will amaze anyone who gets the opportunity to watch you. Go show everyone who is there what your made of and that you can play at any level agaisnt anyone. I foe one am very proud to say I know that girl who can play with anyone and the young lady that I know you are. only you will determine how far you can go because if you continue to work there is no limit to how far your talents can take you. Again congrats and there will be more honors down the road. -
congrats KK this is a great honor. This is one of many more honors to come for your hard work and dedication. You have earned the respect of others around the state and only a few get that opportunity. I for one hope to see you at the next level and I know you will be very successful.

I read all the treads you are talking about and The point made by Bobcat4life was to make sure you knew he was not racist. He was not blowing his own horn he was emplying he helps all girls not just Orangefield and all races which should be commended not complained about. If he wanted gredit for his actions he would have mentioned it a year or two ago. About AAU I also have one and I try to let the girls play for free. We travel to New Orleans, San Antonio. Denton and Little Rock and all between. Could use a sponsor also please PM me if you would like to help. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Top underclassmen in the area? Anyone?
Jdad replied to HoOpStAr's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This is now Jamie speaking NOT JDAD I've personally had enough of people trying to down play my abilities. Noone but me knows what it was like to play in Tapps, so don't try to tell me how weak or strong it was. I can compare on my own because FYI I'm not from TAPPS I was born and raised in Hardin-Jefferson and only left for one year. District 21-3A is stronger I'm not denying that, but single handedly taking on many recruited Houston teams, winning, and putting up my averages is not a walk in the park. Don't try to take anything away from me as a player. I've competed with the best in AAU summer league. I've worked my butt off year after year unrecognized without anyone but my Dad really stepping in on my behalf. I'm tired of not speaking up. A lack of work DEFINATELY does not apply to me, and last time I checked I was Cross Country District CHAMPION. So before anyone thinks it's proper comment on a player (not just me) be sure to check your facts. I weight train, run multiple miles weekly, play weekly whether in season or out, and so much more that noone sees but me. If you don't know me don't judge me especially on work ethic. I know that basketball politics and Bias opinions always take part in forums that's normal so I'm here to put my two cents in on behalf of myself. -

I'm glad you watch them play but if you don't think they could compete in 21 3a tells me you don't know alot about girls basketball. They competed with very good teams from Houston with only 2 legitament players. And anyone who averages 17 points a game while getting double teamed can compete. You don't need my permision to post just don't tell me my daughter can't play because tapps is so weak, at least your oppinion. I'm sure your baskeball knowledge is better than mine, atleast in your mind. -

I know you know her she's your sister. As for working she has worked the last 5 years all summer and won cross coutry district championship this year. As for tapps being weak- their where 5 D-1 girls from that district and some of the best players in the nation go to private school. They wouln't have beat HJ, Orangefield or Silsbee but the rest they could play with the rest. Don't talk about someone you don't know. -
I disagree that coachs are in a lose=lose situation. They have what I believe is the greatest gig in the world. They get to help young people reach for their best and teach them life experiences. As for giving their time they are getting paid. And the coachs who do their best are strong individuals who can take anything anyone else says and move on. I believe its just a difference in oppinions and thats Okay.I know from experience they worst thing for a coach is the feeling when I made a mistake and cost my kids a game. All you can do is try to put them in the best situation with the chance to win and If I made the wrong call no-one had to say anything I beat myself up enough. It doesn't matter if I agree with anothers call or not the only thing that matters is we all want whats best for our girls. You Orangefield fans I applaud you for sticking up for your girls, I wish for more HJ fans would speak-up. Oh but remember when we play OF you are not my friends for a day ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I agree that more local girls should at least be talked to. But we got to admit they got twice as many as they got last year and the team was not very good the previous 5 years. Coachs have a mold for players and they don't always look at talent or success. A lot of girls get pasted over because they don't fit the mold. Unfortunate but true. I truly hope Lamar improves but they could use some local talent and fans.

I quess the one thing that never changes is when people vote on anything it is going to be flawed. No matter how hard you try or even if you don't try to be fair and unbiased it will never happen. To say good thing the coaches voted is funny, if thing they have a better oppinion than others is funny. They have the same biased oppinions and they think their smarter because they have a degree. Fact is their just like everyone else and no-one is perfect. Perfect exampel is the point guard from Tennessee- When she graduated no-one offered her a scholarship because she was only 5'3". Coach Summit went to see another player on her JC team and fell in love with her game and gave her the next 2 seasons at Tennessee where she helped them win the National Championship last year. Her last name is Bobbit and she can play. A lot of coaches wished they would have paid a little more attention earlier. Everyone can't be right we all make mistakes. I hope we do our best because these 15-18 year old girls deserve it.

A Junior from HJ Jamie King will be one of the top players in the district next year if given the opportunity. As a sophmore she averaged 17 points a game at the varsity level in Tapps 4a. She was a first team all district in a 9 team houston area didtrict. She came from HJ and decided after 1 year to go back and play with the girls she grew up with. Next year should be her year, -
Good for you and anyone else who helps stand-up for the girls. To often when bad things happen we let it go hoping it will get better. The only way for it to get better is for good people to stand up and say thats not acceptable. So congrats and good luck go the extra yard I believe your girls will be proud of the effort.Keep us informed of any reply's you recieve so we can see if there is any justice left.
