  1. Vidor will be tough and in the hunt. Any word on Jared's injury. I hope he's back. Great player in his senior year.
  2. By text: Nederland JV 37 beat HJ JV 35 Does anyone have times they could post?
  3. This is preseason and it is all about getting ready for district. HJ should win based on history but it is exactly this type of competition and that which they will get at the YMBL that will make Nederland's program improve. Just like the other night at BH Coach E will put several different combinations out on the floor to assess. Tough hardnosed competition is what they need. I hope he continues to add teams like H-J to Ned's preseason.
  4. I don't really understand many of you that are complaining. I have seen similar comments being posted at various times on this very public forum not only about MB and PNG but also other teams. Is this a case of I can voice my own negative opinions about my coach and team but nobody else can. I don't necessarily agree with Haliburton but he is saying what I've seen many post. I agree with Gabe an opinion column is simply that. His opinion is no better or worse than anyone else's. Take it for what it is worth. You couldn't pay me enough to coach or write because everything you do is publicly subjectively scrutinized and analyzed to the nth degree and even when you do your job right someone is going to find fault. It's the nature of the beast.
  5. Should be a good game. Nederland brings back all but one starter from last year. Only one player is missing due to football.
  6. Classy move by Kirby. Good young man that got caught up in the game. Happens all of the time. The difference is he realizes it and takes responsibility. Not many players do. Good luck friday!
  7. At least Nederland will be in the first game of the playoffs! Where will your team be? Keep showing your ignorance.
  8. Just an opinion: If a parent takes a kid out of a very good academic school district for athletic reasons then they have their priorities mixed up! The athletics are important but the top priority should always be academics.
  9. I would predict that Kirby Bellow will be the #1 for Nederland: 2008 stats: 4-2 record with 1 save as a sophomore; batters averaged .159 against him; 55 Ks; around a 1.4 era. The #2 is a toss up between Josh Dean and Cody Laird: Josh Dean: 2-3 record with 1 save; batters averaged .180 against him; 29 Ks; around 4.0 era. Showed best stuff against PNG last year. At least one of the losses he suffered in 2008 was due to lack of run support. Good fastball in the high 80s. Cody Laird: 3-2 record with 1 save; batters averaged .175 against him; 25 Ks; around a 2.0 era. He is a different style than Dean with good off speed pitches making his fastball effective. With Ryan Brady, Conrad roberts, and up and coming pitchers like Jacob Pitts(Sophomore), Ben Jones(Sophomore), and Ryan Quinn(Sophomore) the Dogs should have a solid and deep pitching staff.
  10. You sure? Because I heard from several players they would try to play Memorial..could be wrong though. :o :o ;D
  11. Brady is a tough loss but a lot of talent on this team. Nederland by 3.
  12. I agree don't bash. We tend to forget that many of us made mistakes as teenagers. I hope he selects a good JC gets his eligibility and goes on to success.

Brett Brown received a gold glove award as All Defensive Team Third Baseman and the Good Sportsmanship Award. Jacob Pitts received a gold glove award as All Defensive Team First Baseman.
