  2. I have read this thread and some of the comments aren't accurate. First, this is not the first time Nederland Babe Ruth has not made it out of state. Noone should assume that state is a cake walk. The thirteen year old team that Spikes, Pitts, Berwick, Woods, Vidrine, etc. lost due to one Wharton pitcher. He was good and shut Nederland down twice in the tournament. Several of them chose not to play as 14 or 15 year olds and those teams also lost at state. Wharton beat the Mid County 17 and 18 year old team last year at state. You are not going to have the strongest team at state every year. Secondly, players or parents of players who chose not to play at Babe Ruth this year should not be complaining or putting the players who did down. Next year is next year and hopefully the league does get stronger. Let these kids have their day. It is about the kids right!
  3. Nederland beats Brazoswood 8-3 in championship. Trent Fontenot pitches all seven innings. Daniel Sparrow Tournament MVP; Jacob Pitts 1 for 2(2b); Jordan Wood 2 for 3(2b); Gerran Freeman 2 for 3(2b); Kohl Lasell 1 for 1; Justin Ridgaway 1 for 3. Tournament record: Game 1: NBR-20 Baytown-0 Brett Brown- 2innings pitched; Ryan Quinn- 3 innings pitched. Daniel Sparrow 3 for 3(2b); Jacob Pitts 2 for 3; David Conley 1 for 1; Kohl Lasell 1 for 2; Corbin Carr 1 for 2; Hunter Knox 2 for 4; Jordan Wood 1 for 4; Trent Fontenot 1 for 3; Daniel Atterberry 1 for 1; Stephen Schlett 1 for 3; Gerran Freeman 1 for 3; Brett Brown 1 for 1.* Game 2: NBR 21 Palacios 0 Corbin Carr 4 innings pitched; Ryan Quinn- 1 innings pitched. Trey Broussard 2 for 2(2b); Hunter Knox 1 for 1(3b); Corbin Carr 2 for 3; Trent Fontenot 2 for 2(2b); Jordan Wood 2 for 2; Stephen Schlett 3 for 3(2b);Daniel Sparrow 2 for 4; Jacob Pitts 1 for 3(3b); Kohl Lasell 1 for 2.* Game 3: NBR 6 Brazoswood 2 WP- Brett Brown; Kohl Lasell(relief); Ryan Quinn (Closed). Justin Ridgaway 1 for 3; Kohl Lasell 1 for 1; Daniel Sparrow 1 for 4; Hunter Knox 2 for 4(2b&3b); Jacob Pitts 3 for 4(2b); Trent Fontenot 2 for 4. * The umpires were impressed with NBR's efforts to not run the score up in the first two games. Although the scores look bad, we played station to station. The opposition just couldn't make a play. We finally bunted back to the pitcher and let them pick us off to end our half of the final innings. NBR leaves for the Southwest Regional Tournament in Bryant Arkansas on July 24th. First game will be Friday against the North Arkansas Sate Champion @ 11:00 a.m.
  4. The 14 Year Old State Tournament is in Wharton. The team leaves today. Their first game is @ 12:00 PM Saturday against Bay City. If they win they play again at 5:00 PM Saturday against Palacios. Sunday will depend on win/lose. This is a deep team that should go far.
  5. Hey RGR, you were on the classless thread saying it was one dad mouthing and that you and the other coaches respected BCLL. Then you come to this thread and repeat the score numerous times, I hope untintentionally, as if rubbing it in. It looks bad for a coach to do so. I support NLL but hope the classless thread and the repeated scores are not indicative of what the upcoming Nederland fans are going to be. Win or lose, do so with class.
  6. Steven Pitts, Clinton Pitts, and Richard Atterberry are the field coaches. Dean Wood and Jeff Brown are also helping out at practices.
  7. 14 Year Old Tournament Team Jordan Wood(Ned) Daniel Sparrow(PNG) Stephen Schlett(Ned) Justin Ridgaway(Ned) Ryan Quinn(Ned) Jacob Pitts(Ned) Kohl Lasell(Ned) Hunter Knox(PNG) Gerran Freeman(PNG) Trent Fontenot(Ned) David Conley(PA) Corbin Carr(Ned) Brett Brown(Ned) Trey Broussard(Ned) Daniel Atterberry(Ned)
  8. That was the other GTB 16U team, they have two, not the one mentioned above. They won last night in the 18U division of the same tournament.
  9. My point about Cooper was only a response to a previous post. It has nothing to do with him as an individual player. He played hard hard all of the time. I wish him the best but don't believe that his graduating is going to hurt Nederland's program. It's just an opinion but I believe there will be a better chemistry next season. Don't try to make it personal.
  10. Congrats! Great to see Galveston looking at the talent pool in this area!
  11. texasrm25, You make some valid points. Not having Cooper in the lineup actually will make Nederland better. With four teams going, I think both Nederland and Vidor will be in the hunt for a playoff spot. They compete very well against each other and it will be fun to watch. Don't underestimate either team.
  12. Just a suggestion for the future. I think if you play the games during the week on two nights during this time of year, more of the players would be available to play. (I know of two players that were asked to play but were committed on that weekend as they are on most weekends this time of year.) I know I would pay to attend both games during a week resulting in more money for the fund. Just an idea!
  13. What happen to the Post Season Team thread?
  14. I guess when you tie the number 5 team and don't go the playoffs due to a tie breaker, you get ousted from the top ten in the area .
  15. Vidor's pitching and bats carry this one in three. Their normally solid infield has had some uncharacteristic errors this year. It's playoff time and they need to step up with the gloves. Bats and pitching are only going to get you through the first round. I know what you're capable and am pulling for you all of the way! Good luck Vidor!
  16. Will the schedule be posted on the MC BR website?
  17. Ryan Sampere: 5 Innings 5 Ks, No Walks, 2 Hits Reagan Stanley 1 for 4 1-RBI 1-Run; Dylan Ford 1-Run; Clinton Pitts 1 for 1 1-RBI; Aaron McFarland 1-Run; Ryan Sampere 1 for 3 1-RBI; Cameron Bass 1-Run; Justin Richard 1-Run; Adam Broussard 1-Run; Jordan Pitts 1 for 2 1-RBI 2-Runs; Kirby Bellow 1 for 2(2B) 1-RunJude Vidrine 1 for 1 2-RBI 1-Run; Trey Terracina 2 for 2(2B) 1-RBI. It's been a thrill watching this group of Seniors since they were in T-Ball. I look forward to hearing great things from them in the future.
  18. you have to decide first place in baseball because first place gets a bye. Third place is either your in or your out. You don't think it is just as important to the team staying home to have the same tie breaker used for first place. Yes it is important to determine first place because of the bye. It's just as important to decide third place because one team does stay home. District needs a clear cut rule for deciding all ties to remove any confusion. My personal opinion is and always has been that all ties be settled on the field or court whenever possible. Congrats to the teams that have made it! I'll be pulling for you all the way.
  19. Don't take my statemtn the wrong way. Believe it or not I agree with you! You will notice I would lose respect if he changed his approach, not because he owes anyone, because his approach has always been to win. I expect him to rest those that pitched Tuesday and still play to win Friday by pitching the best he has available just because that is the type of coach he is. He is not the type to send a message to his players that they should ever coast.
  20. Nederland Honor Society Inductees: Baseball: Neil Higgs Basketball: Jeremy Grammer
  21. It's not that we won't like to hear it. We know it's a possibility. I will just lose my respect for Coach Green if he changed his approach at all. It's not a warmup game. Any time a game has a playoff implications, it should be played with full intensity. I can't stand it when the NFL starts resting players while there are still games that effect the standings being played. It's when you don't play with full intensity that you get injuries. He doesn't want to take a chance of going into the playoff's in third place when he could assure himself of the second place spot.
  22. Jude Vidrine Nederland(Football and Baseball) will also be inducted into National Honor Society. Good job Jude!
