  1. That is one of the reasons I think Vidor will play to win! They want to go into the playoffs as the second place team. Secondly, a win gives them momentum going into the post season! I'll be pulling for them!
  2. Dayton LP: Walters 126 Pitches 8 Innings 4 runs 8 hits 2 BB 8 Ks Ned: Josh Dean 4 2/3 innings 2 runs 3 hits 1 BB 2 Ks; WP: Kirby Bellow 3 1/3 innings 1 hit 2 BB 5 ks Reagan Stanley 1 for 3 1-Run; Jordan Pitts 1 for 4 1-Run; Kirby Bellow 2 for 4 1-RBI; Aaron McFarland 1 for 4(2B) 1-RBI; Ryan Sampere 1 for 3 1-Run; Jude Vidrine 1 for 3(2B) 2-RBI(game winning); Trey Terracina 1 for 4; Cameron Bass 1-Run. Nederland battled and did what they have to do. Good pitching, make the routine plays, and timely hitting. Great job!
  3. I know we(adults) stress academics but some times get so caught up in the athletic achievement of our kids that we fail to give the same attention to academic accomplishment. Therefore, I want this thread to be utilized to recognize athletes who also excel in academics. Nederland notified several student athletes that they have been selected for induction into the National Honor Society today. I do not know all of the names but I do know my son, Jordan Pitts(Varsity Baseball and Basketball), and Taylor Carlson(Varsity Girls Basketball, Soccer, and Track) were selected. I appreciate the effort they have given to excel both as an athlete and student. I'm very proud of both of them. I know there are other kids in Nederland and around the area that have excelled and hope you will add their name to this thread so we can be sure to recognize and congratulate them. I know some people hate for you you to come on here and talk about your own kid(s), but I think this is worth recognizing.
  4. Guys relax. Two good teams played and one team lost. You win as a team and lose as a team. No excuses. Dogs have to take care of business and hope for some help. That's all we need to focus on now. This games over.
  5. LCM: Tim Barry and Stefan Leger(grand slam) Nederland: Aaron McFarland hit his first of the year and Jordan Pitts hit his second.
  6. I didn't get to see what was said but if it was bashing then it needed to go. Nederland is still in the hunt(we need a little help) and the players do not need nor deserve the distractions that this can cause.
  7. I've been told it would be a play-in game regardless of head to head.
  8. Ned: Josh Dean 1 1/3 innings 4 Ks 5 hits 4 BB; Ryan Sampere 3 innings 4 ks 4 BB 5 Hits; Kirby Bellow 1 2/3 innings. LCM: Dallas Brown 3 2/3 innings 3 ks 2 BB 9 hits; Ben Jones 2 1/3 innings 4 ks 2 BB 1 hit; Shane Waddell 1 inning . Ned: Jordan Pitts 2 for 4(HR) 2-RBI 1-Run; Kirby Bellow 1 for 3 1-Run; Aaron McFarland 2 for 2(HR 2B) 2-RBI 2-Runs; Ryan Sampere 2 for 3(3B) 1-RBI 1-Run; Jude Vidrine 2 for 3 1-RBI; Trey Terracina 1 for 4; Justin Richard 1-Run. LCM: Tim Barry 2 for 4(HR) 4-RBIs 2-Runs; Chad Richard 1 Run; Stefan Leger 2 for 4(HR) 4-RBIs 2-Runs; Stefan Cloeren 1 for 3 1-Run; Wade Estes 1-Run 1-RBI; Ben Jones 1 for 2 1-Run; Phillip Richard 1-Run 1-RBI; Matt Johnson 1 for 3 1-Run. My understanding is if there is a tie then there will be a play-in game.
  9. A Pitcher's Duel. This was a great game to watch. Both teams played with the intensity of playoff baseball. WP: Kirby Bellow 7 innings 11 Ks 2 hits LP: Josh Gardiner 6 1/3 innings 7 Ks 3 hits 1 unearned run. Curve ball worked on several good hitters. Defense in the end was the difference. Ozen misses a foul ball for an out and throws the ball away trying for the double play on the same batter leading to the run. Nederland makes a 1-2-3(Bellow-Terracina-Vidrine covering 1st) double play off a squeeze to get out of a bases loaded jam in the second. Jordan Pitts takes a hit away on a play up the middle in the third. Adam broussard and Ryan Brady make the plays in the outfield on a couple of hard hit balls in the 6th. Ned: Kirby Bellow 2 for 3; Trey Terracina 1 for 2(2B); Aaron McFarland 1 run scored on errro made on ball put in play by Jude Vidrine. Ozen: DD Lott 1 for 3; Cameron Ball 1 for 3.
  10. I don't mind a kid playing something else and having fun doing it. But do it out of SEASON. For most of the players that most coaches are concerned about there is no out of season only out of high school season. If we try to prevent injuries during season, we would have to take car keys away and make them stay home. Then they would get carpal tunnel playing on the computer. ;D Accidents happen and you can't prevent them. Let them be teenagers and enjoy themselves.
  11. Comes down to defense. Both teams will throw strikes and put the ball in play. Nederland's defense has been strong all season. Nederland by 3.
  12. I am glad it worked out for the players. IMO: Risk of injury is no reason to tell kids not to participate in other activities. Players have lives outside of school and injuries are just part of life. As it was said earlier, most kids play for the love of the game and will not advance to the next level. Let them make their memories. Heck, if area coaches were truly worried about injuries then baseball players would not have to do football workouts in baseball season!
  13. You're right, but the Dogs would trade places if they could. Your two games up on Nederland and Ozen and one game up on LCM. All though I don't see this happening, you can lose two of the last four and still be tied for third. They can't afford to lose any!
  14. Chad Sims is definitely deserving of some recognition. He sometimes gets lost in the shadow of Vidor's better known players(Bunner, Robi, Fotnow, and Hester). Kirby Bellow is having and outstanding year for Nederland. Mitch Todd being used at P, 3B, and 2B, is doing a great job for PNG.
  15. Uh, did I say PNG by 4??? What I MEANT to say was Ned by 3...what was I thinking??? ;D ;D ;D Glad to see a sense of humor instead of some of the other stuff that has been seen on here. It was a well played game by both teams. Josh Dean's pitching and Nederland's two out rally in the second was the difference. Spikes and Sampere did their job in relief for their respective teams. Another excellent game to watch.
  16. I've always thought there were four maybe five teams that could win on any given night in this district and that is proving true. It's going to be a wild finish!
  17. WP: Josh Dean 5 innings 6 K's 1 BB 2 hits 3 runs (Great Job!) Save: Ryan Sampere 2 innings 1 K 1 hit LP: Mitch Todd 2 innings 3 ks 6 hits 4 runs Jerin Spikes 5 innings 3 ks 5 hits 2 runs Nederland: Adam Broussard 1 run; Jordan Pitts 2 for 4(double) 3 RBI & 2 Runs; Kirby Bellow 3 for 4 w/1 Run; Aaron McFarland 2 for 3(double) 1 Sac Bunt 1 RBI; Jude Vidrine 1 for 3 1 RBI; Reagan Stanley 1 for 3; Trey Terracina 1 for 3(double);Ryan Brady 1 for 3 w/1 Run;Cameron Bass 1 Run. PNG: Reyenga 1 for 3; Kane Benoit 1 for 3(double); Mitch Todd 1 for 2 w/1 Run; Austin Sangster 1 Run; Emir Jalali 1 RBI & 1 Run.
  18. They are a different team than they were in the first half. Allison threw strikes and let his defense play. Central had 2 errors. Ned: Kirby Bellow 5 2/3 innings 9 K's 4 hits;Josh Dean 1/3 inning 1 K 1HBP; Justin Richard 1/3 inning 1 K 1BB 1 hit; Ryan Sampere 1/3 inning 1 K. Adam Broussard 1 for 3 1 RBI; Jude Vidrine 1 for 3 2 RBI; Aaron McFarland 2 for 3; Reagan Stanley 2 for 3(2b&3b); Kirby Bellow 1 for 3. Central: Allison 6 innings 3 Ks 2 BB 6 hits Thomas 1 for 4; Fowler 1 for 4(2b); Allison 3 for 4 2 RBI; #15 2 for 3(both 2b).
  19. Not just BC, all teams should not get sucked in. It's a team sport, worry about the individual honors after the season. In 22-4A you have two teams tied for first and one team one game in back and I would assume the MVP would come from the winning team. Too much baseball to be played yet.
  20. Are you saying they are underrated as this thread suggests? Sims maybe but not Hester or Robi. Their ability is well known and acknowledged throughout the area as is several of the players from other teams that have been mentioned on this thread.
  21. WP: Hester LP: Sampere 3 1/3 innings 3 ks 2 BB 7 hits 6 runs Cody Laird 2/3 inning 1 K; Josh Dean 2 innings 2 BB 3 hits 3 runs HR: Fontnow(2for3), Hester(2for3), and Bunner(3for4) 3B: Robichaux(1for4) Hagler 1 for 3; Sims 1 for 3(2b);Bruce 1 for 3. Nederland: Broussard 2 for 3(2B); Pitts 1 for 3; McFarland 1 for 3. Vidor quite simply outhit Nederland 10 to 4 and that was the difference in the game. Nederland put the ball in play but right to Vidor's defensive players. Nederland had 2 errors that led to one unearned run. Vidor had 1 error. Nederland has to play district out and hope for some help now.
  22. My prediction is a good game between two good teams. It's a big game for both teams. Neds bats are hot right now. I have to go with my Dogs in a close one.
  23. Nederland 14 Lumberton 1 WP: Kirby Bellow: 3 innings 5 Ks 1 hit 6 BB; Justin Richard: 1 inning 1 k 1 hit 1 BB; Josh Dean 1 inning 2ks; Conrad Roberts 1 inning 2 ks 1 BB. Adam Broussard 1 for 3 3-runs 1 RBI; Jordan Pitts 2 for 5(HR) 2-runs 3 RBI; Ryan Brady 1 for2; Ryan Sampere 1 for 4; Jude Vidrine 1 for 5 1-run; Dylan Ford 1 for 1(2B) 1-run 1 RBI; Aaron McFarland 1-run 2 RBIs; Kirby Bellow 3 for 3; Reagan Stanley 2 for 2 (3B) 1-runs 4 RBIs; Josh Dean 1 for 1(2B); Trey Terracina 1 for 3 1 run; Justin Richard 1 for 2 2-runs; Cameron Bass 2-runs.
