  1. 1st game: Vidrine(1 RBI) 3 for 4, Pitts(2b, 2 RBI) 3 for 4, and Stanley(2b, 1 RBI) 2 for 4. 2nd game: Bellow(4 RBI) 2 for 2, Stanley(3 RBI) 2 for 3, McFarland(1 RBI) 2 for 3, and Richard(2 RBI). The lineup from top to bottom put the bat on the ball and looked good for their first games.
  2. My son text me to say today's game is cancelled. According to the schedule they play @ 3:30 PM & 7:55 PM Friday. I'm not sure how today's rainout may effect the schedule for the next two days.
  3. Nederland's program is moving forward. Some of the returning Juniors need to step up and be leaders during their senior year. Nederland had no senior leadership this year. I agree about the team play. However, in defense of the one player I believe you are talking about, he's a good young man who was trying to make something happen. He just got out of control at times. I wish him and the other Seniors well as they head to college next year. I didn't see the chemistry this group of Juniors has displayed in past seasons. The team was focused on specific players scoring instead of finding the hot hand as they have done in past seasons. They'll work hard this Spring and Summer and come back strong. They'll be supplemented by players from a good JV team and a deep Freshman team that went 22-8 this season. They'll be a fun team to watch next year.
  4. I like LCM for the final spot. They are playing some good ball right now. However, They can't look ahead. They must focus on PNG first.
  5. I agree the team didn't play as intense as they needed too. I tip my hat to Jared Williamson. He was played hard defensively and still found a way to score. Look forward to seeing Jordan Pitts, Josh Dean, and Chad Sims in baseball after Tuesday.
  6. I hope all goes well with the family illness and you are able to be back soon.
  7. I am the only one who has mentioned their son or at least has admitted, so I assume you were giving me the advice. Please read my post and keep it in context. In response to a prior post about three kids(which included my son), I stated they needed to prove themselves this year. No complaint was made. I believe the selections were excellent and have let AdminBR know it. I believe as you do that a player will earn their recognition if deserved. I do not nominate or complain where I have a bias. If you took my statement as a complaint, I hope you will reread and understand it supported the selections that were made. If you were referring to someone else then disregard.

  10. I'm a little biased where JP is concerned and appreciate your thoughts about him B-Dog Fan. But I believe that he, Chad, Austin, and a few others still have to prove themselves this season in spite of what they and several others may have shown this summer. This is since they didn't get a lot of Varsity playing time nor press last year. Hopefully they step up and show it to the persons who haven't heard of or seen them. I'm betting they will! There is noone on the list that I have seen play that should not have made it. It's a great selection of players. I do believe Sampere and possibly McFarland should be on first team. Just an opinion. I do appreciate your effort guys.
  11. Thanks VP.  I assure you my opinion of Vidor fans is not diminished because of a few kids who made a bad decision.  I know numerous fans, adult and kids alike over there, and count them as good people.  During a game I holler as loud as anyone and have stepped over the line a time or two.  Usually at the refs.  It's part of getting caught up in the game and I can accept that.  But after the game I want to be able to shake players on both teams hands and tell them how proud I am of their efforts.  I look forward to the next game with Vidor and seeing the friends I have made due to interactions at basketball and baseball games.
  12. Not necessarily a comment about this tryouts but is about Senior Babe Ruth players. Watched two members of last years 16 Year Old World Series Runnerups go at it tonight in Vidor.  Chad Sims and Jordan Pitts.  Both played hard.  After the game reminded me of one of the many benefits of playing Senior Babe Ruth.  Chad and Jordan sitting side by side as friends talking after a hard fought game.  If not for Babe Ruth they wouldn't know each other or be friends.  It's great for our area that they all get to play together.  Both are looking forward to the High School and Babe Ruth seasons.
  13. Congrats to Coach Robinson and the team.  They did what they had to do to beat Nederland which was to slow the game down.  Nederland couldn't make a shot in the first quarter.  It goes to show that there is quite a bit of parity in this district which makes for some close games. I was disappointed in the Vidor High School student fans, who thought it was o.k. to throw the minature basketballs, given out at the half, at the Nederland players after the game. >:(  It showed a complete lack of class.  The players on both sides played hard and did not deserve that treatment.  The adults who were standing next to the students should have put a stop to it.
  14. In HS ball the best team on any given night will win. OF was the best team on Tuesday and deserved the win.
  15. It was a close one. The dogs fought hard and found a way to win. Great Job!!!
  16. No team should be sold short based on classification. Anahuac is an athletic physical team who has been coached well. They'll be successful. Nederland has yet to play a solid game but pre-district is the time to have games like their first two. They have the talent and will hopefully get some consistent play going. Missed free throws are killing them. > I've got faith they'll get on the right track.
  17. It's not the same team. That was Humble Christian Academy last year.
  18. Don't want to butt into your sibling rivalry but Vidor is a good competitive team that when hot can compete with most anybody based on what I have seen. Plus the season is just getting started. There's going to be some close games due to coaches trying different combinations of players to get their rotation ready for district. HJ, Silsbee, and Vidor should all have good seasons.
  19. There may have been obligations from the prior coach or coach just needed an opponent for this week and couldn't find one. I really don't know. Having a game even against a 2A school is better than no game at all. Nederland plays Spring and WOS next week. Schedules tend to mirror year after year and it takes more than one year to filter in the quality programs. The Dogs will be competitive but still have to prove they deserve the playoff talk.
  20. Didn't say they were. ??? I was only drawing attention to the fact both teams played without injured key players. I don't know much about Ybarra. I'm sure they each bring different things to their team. Dean adds a stronger inside game to the dogs. On a night when the outside shots aren't falling that inside presence is important. Teams can't worry about who is hurt. They have to play with who they have. Both teams played hard and that made for a good game to watch. I'd rather that be the focus rather than who didn't play. BH will be tough with or without Ybarra. They had several guys who could knock down the threes and there is no question they all played with intensity. Add the coaching and both teams should be successful when district comes around.
  21. Nederland had a starter, Josh Dean, on the bench due to injury as well. You can't control who is hurt. The Dogs did a good job of finding a way to win when their normal sure shots and free throws weren't falling. They had a dismal night at the line. Would have been at least a ten point win without the missed free throws. Just one of those nights. > The game showed some growth from last year and is a good starting point for this year. A win is a win! New floor and scoreboard looked good.
