  1. boy..... if this isn't a test for the youngster !?!?.......
  2. BOJO Be Original Just Once ................................lol LC-M 41 HK 12
  3. In the past when WB had a school day off and a game that night (ex: the fair day comes every year) the staff made the kids show up at the field house early (around regular school time) to avoid distractions..(keep'em off the streets feed them their meals)........i would bet the same happened for this situation........ as far as advantage?? I would bet Coaches would rather kids be in class (coaches are all about keeping to the rutine)
  4. In using PA- Jefferson as a Guidline......to my knowledge they moved up during every class change...... 1920 was first year to have 1A 19 years later 1939 was first year to have 2A 12 years later 1951 was first year for 3A & 4A 29 years later 1980 was first year to have 5A 28 years later it will be 2008.................. History is saying....it's time..........
  5. Jones has now lost 13 in a roll (2nd round lose in 95, 0-10 in 96, 0-2 this year)........Congrats on the win......
  6. Before anyone starts bashing the football program all together...........here are a few "good apples" 09/11/2007 Old tradition, new setting Anna Glazer, Texas Media Relations Derek Lokey · Video · Photo gallery On the Friday before the home games against Arkansas State and TCU, a host of UT players took the afternoon off from football and their studies to brighten the lives of a handful of young patients at the new Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Many of the players were returning to the hospital for their second, third or fourth year, and were warmly greeted by wide-eyed patients, grateful parents and helpful hospital staffers, all just as eager as the next to get an autograph, snap a photo, or just share a few minutes with their favorite Texas football player. The Longhorns' came prepared with Texas football posters, trading cards, stuffed animals and t-shirts ready to be personalized, signed and delivered to the young patients eagerly waiting. A few volunteer Longhorns went room-to-room visiting the children who were not able to leave their beds, while the rest of the players met with children and their families in the playroom. Robyn Dickson, the hospital's community groups coordinator, has been arranging the players' visits and special activities for children since April 2006. "We try to normalize the kids' whole hospital experience by bringing the community to them, and then the football players add something special for the kids," said Dickson. "It's also good for the players because they feel good knowing they helped somebody so it's a two-fold process." She added that the players' visit not only benefits the children, but the parents and the hospital staff as well because it alleviates some of the stress from their everyday lives. Senior DT Derek Lokey has been visiting the Children's Hospital since his freshman year. "We're honored that they keep inviting us out because we really enjoy being out here, and it's great to give back," said Lokey. "Visiting with the kids is one of my favorite parts of the week." This was the Longhorns' first visit to the beautiful, new Dell Children's Medical Center, which opened in June and had formerly been The Children's Hospital of Austin. "It's about 100 beds larger and it's a green-building," said Dickson. "We have natural light coming in approximately every three feet, and the way that we use water and the chemicals that we use are earth-friendly and patient-friendly." Senior Frank Okam was in awe of the new facility. "This is a great hospital; it's one of the most beautiful hospitals I've ever seen," said Okam. "When you see things like that, you just have to step back and appreciate what's going on here." Okam, who has been a regular visitor at the hospital since his freshman year, plans his class schedule around the Friday visits. "The tradition was started before I ever got here, and to be one of the players that continues to add to it is a great thing," said Okam. "It's a great opportunity to give back and show people that you appreciate them. "When you see the smiles on the kids' faces, you know you're doing something good and it's something that you don't have to expect anything in return for." Sophomore quarterback Colt McCoy recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. "It's important for us to do anything we can to support these kids who have been through struggles and things that none of us have ever been through," said McCoy. "And we really enjoy coming over here and putting smiles on their faces." Senior Peter Ullman shares his teammates' sentiments. "It's a great privilege to be able to come out here and support the kids when they're going through hard times," said Ullman. "I just hope the kids enjoy it as much as I do because I really get a lot out of it." The Texas players will return to the hospital on three more occasions, with each visit falling on the Friday before home games. They are also looking forward to a new tradition that began last year, when the tables are turned and the children will visit the players at Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Complex.
  7. Champ........I have been looking at it like this......If West Brook keeps winning over Ozen and Central one of two things would happen........1) They cut the cord and let Brook choose teams they want to play........or 2) they try opening another school with orange and wight, as the colors, and a Buffalo for the mascot........lol...or the Beaumont Charllton Pollard Purple Greenies..........lol the new school has been a thought putting it in the Northwest part of Beaumont......that is fact.......
  8. westendfirst......... you are showing how much you really don't know.......is your real complaint that Ozen and Central are performing sub-par to West Brook?? (that the feeling im getting)..By your winded discussion about kids at Marshall.......your zoning argument don't mean a thing if it is still "A District of Choice".........does that change in the bond?? Smith is a middle school not an elementary Hebert/Ozen faithfull use to put it to me this way....."hey we just leave the door open"..........I always knew these days would comeback for West Brook.......I called it reverberation.......and the truth is now in progress. BISD is reeping what has been sewn (freedom to chose and kids want to win)....that's what people told me when I complained about the same things you are (Zoneing) Right now West Brook is just "leaving the door open"........ There have been 4 head coaches at West Brook but one thing has allways remained the same ........a superior coaching staff (even in the Rabb era the "staff" was superior)........I will not say it's the best in the state but i'm not going to stay quiet when people spit off info. they have no backing for.......... History is what has brought Nederland and PN-G to Religent...... not being the best in Southeast Texas.......I think the rest of us can respect that!!! Finally, the 15 wins WB has, vs NED and PNG all came when they were all in 5a.....the three loses to Nederland were shortly after Ozen opened and WB had about 25 kids coming out each year to play football...(no excuse, Fact).......and vs West Orange......both teams were 2-2 in 5a and when West Orange droped to 4a (with 2 state titles) both manages 3-3 records aginst each other. West Orange was 3a vs 4a central twice all other meetings between the two and Ozen were in level classifications......... Every meeting between Central and PNG have been district games both 4a and 5a............Ozen has alway been 4a vs Ned and PNG..........
  9. just to add.......the "horrible" Beaumont schools are 39-35 vs the three teams mentioned....... Ozen vs PNG....1-5 Ozen vs Ned....3-7 Ozen vs WOS....2-2 total.............6-14 Cen vs PNG.....5-3 Cen vs Ned.....5-1 Cen vs WOS....3-9 total...........13-13 WB vs PNG......8-0 WB vs Ned......7-3 WB vs WOS....5-5 total...........20-8
  10. you are right Solja....100%, and even more truth.....West Brook should not be forced to play these two 4a teams like they are.......The only way this gets stopped is for West Brook to keep winning........then BISD 'BIGS' will get tired of big brother beating up on little brother......just like growing up at home.......it was alway ok for 'little brother'(Ozen,Central) to beat up 'big brother'(WB), but when 'big brother'(WB) turned around and laid it on little brother(Ozen, Central)......... momma and daddy (BISD) get upset.....lol
  11. Solja.....Why do you have to keep being reminded on why you guys won 53-0.(that's the only thing Central has to hang over West Brook yet there is a reason)....that was leftovers who didn't go to Ozen.....period. You should think Ozen every season they are around for the wins you have aginst West Brook......without Ozens doors opening up you guys would be an '*' in BISD athletic history.......besides when you were beating us you couldn't beat them (Ozen).......lol West Brook 35-21
  12. All eye's localy, and from Boston, will be on Clay Buchholz as the 23 year old, from Lumberton, gets his first Major League start vs the Los Angeles Angels. Good Luck today Clay!!!! Chip Ambres went 2 for 4, scored a run and had an rbi. Chip is now batting .308 in his last 10 games Lew Ford, went 2 for 4 and had a stolen base.......that's 8 straight games with a hit. Yesterday was only his 2nd game without a double, in those 8 games. Lew is now batting .394......will a move back up be made?? Collin Delome hadn't played a game for the A Tri-City VallyCats since August 11th........1 reason, it was the Short Season All-Star break (8-14)......2nd reason, Collin was on that All-Star roster!!! Big Congrats for Collin!!! Well, how does Collin feel after returning to the VallyCats yesterday.......well enough to go 3 for 5, score 2 runs, drive in 2 runs, and hit his 4th HR. Collins 45 game average is at .300 and in the month of August Collin is batting .357...... Cody Strait went 2 for 4 for the third time in three games. He also stole two bases. Cody is now batting .357 in the month of August Brandon Richey went 1 for 2 scored a run and drove one in. Brandon has reached a base safely now in 4 of his last 5 games........ Tyler Reves had a single in 3 AB's and has now hit safely in 7 of his last 9 games..........
  13. Lew Ford, so far a regular list maker, went 1 for 3, had a double, one rbi and walked twice. Lew is now at .379 in his last 8 games for AAA Rochester...... Jay Bruce, also a 1 for 3 day, also had a double, and also drove in a run. In his 35 games with the AAA Bats, Jay stands at .307 and has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games.......... Cody Strait, in continuation of a very productive August, went 2 for 4 while driving in a run. Cody is batting .346 this month with 11 of his 18 hits going for extra bases....... Kyle Stutes saw 1.1 innings, on Wednesday, did not allow a run, walked one and k'ed another. In AA San Antonio, Kyle has a 2.25 era with 2 saves in 10 games....... Derek Blacksher, also on the hill, put in 1 inning of work, walked a batter and k'ed 2 to earn his 6th save in 12 games. Derek has a 0.61 era for the GCL Marlins..........
  14. Watching linemen run 100 yrd 'sprints' at end of practice........... ........come on.......[looking at watch].......January.....Febuary......March......April.......lol
  15. PAM and da boo dawgs... ;D......Nederland
  16. Jason Tyner........ came in late in the game in the Twins win vs. Seattle. He had only one AB but it was good enough for a single and he later scored a run..... Jay Bruce........... went 2 for 4, scored 1 run, and had an rbi. Jay also belted his 8th HR, for the AAA Bats, bringing his August Average up to .333..... Jesse Floyd........... pitched one inning of relief for the second time this season. In that one inning, Jesse did not allow a run, gave up one hit, walked one batter and had one k..... Cody Strait............ was 2 for 4, at the plate, scored 2 runs, had one rbi resulting from his 5th HR for the A Sarasota Reds. Cody is batting .341 in his last 10 games and .333 in the month of August. 11 of his 16 hit's this months have gone for extra bases........ Casey Beck............ came in for relief last night and ended up with a victory. Casey pitched 1.1 innings, gave up just one hit, 2 BB's, struck out 2 batters, and did not allow a runs......... Aaron Thompson............ The last 3 times Aaron reached at least the 7th inning on the hill, he had only allowed a total of one run. You can now add a 4th game to that list after last night!!! Aaron went 7.0 innings, gave up 3 hits, no runs, walked 2 batters and struck out 7.............great pitching Aaron!!!
  17. another fine day!!! The weather has been scalding hot here in Southeast Texas.....and so have a few of our local talents across the country........... Lew Ford............. had only one hit in four AB's yesterday but it's his 5th straight game with at least a single. He's got 14 hits in his 6 games, since being back with AAA Red Wings. Talk in the clubhouse, for the Twins, has been shaky while the club has been struggling the past few weeks. Maybe a rejuvenated Ford could bring a spark back to Minnesota??.......We're rootin' for ya Lew!!! Jason Tyner................. Still swinging the bat for those Struggling Twins, Jason had a hot bat yesterday hoping to help turn things around. Jason got a lead off walk in the 7th, vs Seattle, which resulted in knotting the game at 3 by the end of the inning. Again in the 9th Jason poked a lead off single giving the visiting Twins a chance to take the lead before going into the bottom of the frame.....but it was not to be. The game ended with, struggling himself....Richie Sexton, who was batting under .200, just over a week ago, belting a lead off Homer in the bottom of the ninth to end the game. Sexton has been splitting time with our own Ben Broussard until about 6 games ago. Sexton in his last six games has gone 10 for 25......but let's not count Ben out just yet, with his season average of .291!!! Individually, Jason would have wanted the win, but he still posted a 2 for 3 day scoring his one run in the seventh. Jay Bruce................. with another 'pro'ductive day in AAA Louisville, went 2 for 5, scored a run, had a double and an rbi. Jay's August average is at .320 and his season average with the AAA bats sits at .300...........ALMIGHTY!!!! Derrick Gordon.................. came in relief for his 7th save on the season finishing off 3 innings with only one hit a walk and 2 k's. Gordon's era is now 1.84 in 44 innings with 49 KO's...Nice!!!...... Chip Ambres................... kept his hot streak alive going 2 for 5 at the plate with one double, a Home Run, soring one run, and had two rbi's. Chip is 9 for his last 18 AB's bringing his August average to .326.........HOT HOT HOT.......... Chad Beck................ back to work on Monday pitched one inning, gave up one hit, one walk and struck out two batters for class A South Bend..........Nice pitching Chad!!! Brandon Richey................... had a 2 for 4 day for the Rookie Kingston Mets, scoring two runs, with one double and his 5th stolen base of the season..............Great day Brandon!!!
  18. WOW.....................Great Job guys!!!
  19. I don't think I mentioned anyone but y'all winning state titles....and I did it in a positive way.....so I wasn't trying to make it about state titles......
  20. I don't know many great 'football traditions' where you can leave "a winning point of view" out.....They had to be somewhat successful early on.......or what's the point If you don't get out of your area......early in existence......who's going to know you except the 10 or less teams you face each year..... I mentioned in 60 years Stephenville has had 36 seasons with a less than .500 record.....('20 to '88) should be 68 years :correcting my math: PN-G started in '25 and only had 18 losing seasons, in the same time span to '93 Port Neches, for a few moments in time, was dominant on the football field (early 50's and 70's)...The success on the filed bleed over to school spirit..........CHEROKEE was not played at PNG until the late '40's and the fight song was not written until '60......Tradition to me is a combination of many things............ winning has to be one of them, or again....what's the point?? ....I see I missed-read the 4 trips and 4 titles...my bad.....what i didn't miss was......Stephenville had one trip to the post season in 47 years.........'41 to '88........since '89 that's a brand new chapter.........congrat's on the "recent success" we could use some in Southeast Texas......... What attributes, besides just saying you have a top tradition in Texas, does Stephenville have then??? WO-S= win's.........there is no argument in that......who would dare try............
  21. Now this is just my opinion, yet I'm sure it will be taken as stepping on toes....sorry in advance......It is my understanding that best tradition would have to be something set at an early part of a teams existence and is somewhat still alive today...........I think it has taken place at places like Permian and PN-G..... to start....Since '89 I think Art Briles is probably the savior of Stephenville football. Not many opponents have done to well since his arrival followed up by Copeland and Morris......In the last 17 years Stephenville has been to the playoffs 16 times going to the finals in 6 and winning its four titles in those 17 years. Not mentioning three 16-0 seasons and one at 15-1..........................but before '89 as far as playoffs go....Stephenville was pretty much non existent. From 1953-1988 (35 years) Stephenville did not qualify for the playoffs. From the start, 1920, to 1988 Stephenville was only a playoff team 7 times. In those 60 years Stephenville has 36 sub .500 seasons........and went 309-283-25..........Now with that being said........ I don't see anything, except maybe school spirit, that could effect any one's thinking about Stephenville having a top 'traditional' football program from start to today.........I would definitely agree that one has 'newly' been established, since '89, (no doubt) but as far as longevity............IMO.....no
  22. '92 beaumont bowl.......David Garrett WB put a hit on a Central wide receiver that left both of them down for 10 minutes..........brutally scary......Garrett returned......I don't think the WR was as lucky........
