I'm with you Ranger. As someone who has had the best seat in the house to have seen most of the guys you just mention I do not see where pitching is down. There are some seniors that have thrown very well also. You never know who is going to blossom when they get to the next level, grow up a bit, and get a little stronger.

I see some fish stories coming now ;D But I can tell you it's not how hard they throw it but where they throw it and how good they change speeds

Question is , is it possible or feasible for the UIL to now say the games are back on and start back before Monday. Le t the guys play Friday and Saturday if they can get it scheduled??

good question. Pitcher is to take pitch signs from the catcher while in contact with the rubber. Now how do you enforce this. Unless there is no question that it is being done, then no way. How can I say that a coach scratching his head is a signal? believe it or not, but the coaches do not give me their signals for a game lol. Now I do know of a certain coach that it seems that everytime he yells something kinda off the wall at his defense, then some sort of pickoff move is on. Is it a coincidence? Think not but I know many coaches have little things they do they are signs. Thats baseball. It's something that I am not going to listen to too much arguing about cause most of the time even with a judge, lawyer and jury you couldn't prove it. I would put this in the catagory of nitpickiing the rules. Far to many more important things to worry about.

I have no problem with people answering questions. It was not meant to insult anyone else's knowledge of baseball. I definitely do not know all the rules in my head. Many times there have been some very interesting questions that required looking in the rule book or sending it to a higher source that are a real rules guru.

Far as going to the game, I'd tell ya to look for the guy with a top hat and beard until further notice. He does throw very well. He pitched the night I called the plate when they played Warren. He had some heat.

I am not for sure that playing that emotional of a game for a warm up would benefit either team. You do not want them mentally spent.

I think someone has mis understood my little sense of humor. Lets just make sure that whomever answers a question isn't just saying what they think is the rule, but someone that either knows it by heart or has a rule book handy to make sure. The object was to inform the readers of this forum the proper rules so they can enjoy the game of baseball even more.

The Bucs have some pitching so don't sell them too short in this. They have had a very good 2nd half of the season and their coach has done a great job getting his players to buy into his system. Granted BC should win but you may be a little surprised by the Bucs. Gotta take up for my old team lol EC Class of '77 and shortstop lol. I wasn't near as gravitationally challenged as i am now

Having called both of these teams this year, I have them as very even teams. Just remember it is a warmup and I wouldn't put to much into the score or who wins.

I usually do not move with the catcher but if you feel too unprotected then it is ok to move. Now I am not a coach and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I would never teach my catcher to set up that far outside no matter what kind of throw away pitch I was calling. I say keep the batter guessing on if you are going to make him chase or sneak one by him for a called strike.

Yes he can fake a throw to third. As far as the catcher, all I can figure is since there was no catchers box lined off, the umpire must have felt that if he went outside of this then he would have been out of the catchers box which would result in a balk if he is outside of the box when the pitch is delivered. Other than that I can not understand why he would tell the catcher that.

This should be a judgment call. If the umpire thinks that he could safely have reached 3rd before the ball leaves the field of play then he is awarded 3rd. I think...... Maybe we should rename this thread ask mr silsbee88.... Once the pithcer steps off the back of the rubber, then he becomes a fielder not a pitcher. Runner gets 3rd as it is one from the mound and two from the field. Now if he makes a regular pick off throw and did not step off the back then he would only get 2nd. That made me laugh out loud, since I was thinking the same thing!!!
