  1. As long as the batter stays in his batting stance and does not move into the way of the catchers throw there is no interference. So .. catcher throws the ball and hits the batters bat and the batter did not move, you have nothing. Batter is entitled to remain in the box as long as he does not move to alter the play. As an umpire if this happens I will have to explain to one or coach or the other because both will think they are right.
  2. What's a space bar ?????? Isn't that one of those places in Star Wars ?????
  3. I was there at the game and I do not believe Wes Wood is a D1 QB. Forget the numbers , he does not have a strong enough arm. If you noticed when he threw a long pass he had to wind up to throw and give it all he had. He had also had a hard time trying to throw a hard linr drive type pass on short routes because of the lack of arm strength. Most of his passes caught were WR's wide open because of some very good play calling in which they used play action or misdirection. I thought their best play was after Kirby found a way to stop the speed option, Muleshoe would come down the line like they were going to run the option and then the QB would pop up and hit a WR that was wide open because the corner came up on the pitch man. The OC did a great job of calling plays to the strength of his players. They also checked to a slip screen when Kirby showed blitz and made big plays off of that. Very good system QB for 2A but not for College Ball.
  4. In Texas, Football is the most important sport because it is the sport that brings in the revenue that funds most of the other sports. Basketball is next, but no school can support and athletic program off of the few hundred fans that show up for baseball, softball, or track meet. I am a baseball man, but it is not treated as a first line high school sport at many schools. Many of the ones that do treat baseball as a major sport are the ones who usually play past the district schedule.

  9. Haynes had 2 punts for a 28 yard avg, one was only 11 yards a shank so that means his other punt was 45 yards. We only remember the bad and not the good and that is what is wrong with people today. Think positive and your life will go much better.
  10. Katy does have field turf not the old astro turf. That stuff was taken out a few years ago. I've seen quite a few games there over the years and been on the field,( not playing but walking) and I have never heard a complaint from coaches or players.

  20. Don't even start a rumour like that. Central will not be removed from playoffs because of this. UIL will not even take action for at least a week maybe more.
  21. I can tell you as a TASO official ( not football ) , that a report had to be sent in by the officiating crew to the UIL and their will be an investigation into what happened. What the UIL does from there is up to them but most of the time you see schools possibly put on probation for a year or two and no other action is taken unless there is another type situation next year.
  22. The Tournament?????? It's just the Texas High School Football Playoffs!!!! Your the only one I ever heard call this a tourament..
  23. For coach Barbay two things... Sam Rayburn.... Toledo Bend..... need I say cue up the Old Milwalkee commercial.. It doesn't get any better than this!!!!
  24. I keep reading ... throw more on first down.. geez with the scores of the games why throw more on first down??? run the clock keep it moving get the win get no one hurt. BTW WOS threw 7 times on first down and ran 16 times. they completed 6 of those throws. I do not think that is so bad when you figure in what went on in the game. Field position has alot to do and if I posted what yard line most of the 1st downs came on you would see they were in HJ territory a bunch. Now I am not gonna post all my computer stat stuff I keep because to many teams down the line could use it as scouting. They will have to work to get what my little ole puter spits out.
  25. Skip.. I know you and a few others have been complaining about the offensive line blocking and rightfully so. But have you ever thought that maybe the kids on the line are doing their best and they are just not as good as some of the o lines before? When you lose someone like Matherne from last year that the stangs would run and run and run behind, it is hard to replace that. The line is smallish this year and they are trying harder than you may think, they just do not have the mass to move people. I expect to see more of the short passing game used like runs to maybe free up the running game some.
