I have never heard of a player getting an extra year of high school football because of an injury. What is up with that? You don't get a redshirt year like in college. You have the credits to graduate and thats that. I have heard of parents holding their kid back a grade when they are young or maybe even in Jr. High but thats it. Where is this injury waiver talk comming from? -
I tried to post this as an attachment but it would not let me. If anyone wants it as such send me a message and I will try to oblige. MrUmp1

Is The WO-S Coaching Staff Up Tight About Tonight
MrUmp1 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm really cracking up reading this "shtuff" !!!!! I know that there was alot more than 3 or 5 different plays run tonight. The offense is getting ready for the playoffs by running more plays and playaction passes. There are a few players in key postions that are young and the playbook is expanding week by week as they become more confortable with what they are doing. And don't complain about his umpiring.. I miss you complaining about mine !!!!!!! lol -
Stangs win but I have been quite impressed of an Orangefield team that could have packed it in for the season. Shows the coaches and players have heart. Will be a good test for the Stangs defense to brush up on a little QB option/running offense.

Enrollment Numbers-- What did your school turn in???
MrUmp1 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I believe you have to be cleared through Homeland Security to view the site -
If Kelly were to play UIL they would play 3A. Take their enrollment and double it. They would still be under or around 900 which is 3A.

My thoughts exactly. As I was reading all the post I was wondering if anyone was going to think of these senerios. A win is a win and when you have a chance to put it in the bank you do. If you want to gamble take your money across the Sabine and see how much you have when you are done . -

Matchups and game situations come into play alot more than us casual watchers know. WOS actually ran alot more base plays than reads the other night which was a change. If you do not have to show much of your offense to win, then don't. The surprise factor down the line can be huge. At all the schools I have done stats for over the years I have seen it so many times that a team runs certain plays out of a formation to set up an opponent down the line to confuse them. It is one big cat and mouse game. I will say I have never seen so many passionate fans that a team like WOS has and all of you that are should be commended for it !!!!! -

Thanks... With the stats program I use for the games I can get all kinds of stats. And yes I am the WOS Stat Man. I do not put much of it on here but I have all kinds of stat info. I am really getting tired of the bashing of the offensive coaches at WOS. All they do is win. What more can you ask for. -
Yeah but the defense sure has changed since you were there coach Foster !!!!!!

Only 5 of these plays were zero or negative yards. Two plays were 2 yrd gains. That leaves 15 plays that were 3 or more yards gained on first down. WOS only attempted 9 passes all night and 3 of these were on first down. Gasilla I think these are very good numbers for 1st down. Ask any coach and he will tell you he will take these stats anytime on 1st down. Know the truth not just what you think you see. -
The only 2 that I strongly disagree with are ....... drum roll please ..... I'll take HF ovr Jasper I'll take Hardin ovr Buna.. Key is can Buna stop a passing attack. Most small schools have a problem because they do not see a team thatcan pass the ball. And I will say it again Larry Haynes has to much expierience at the big school level to pick through the smaller schools defenses.
-
I don't coach but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!!!!!!! These coaches do not owe any of you any explanation of what they do. They may have to answer to their employers... aka school board or superintendant. For coaches to answer your questions is a no win situation. This is like saying as an umpire I should turn around and explain to the crowd every pitch and why I called it a ball or strike. It is what it is no explanation needed.

There was a site that someons showed me awhile back that was a don't forget TJ web page that actually had the TJ band playing the fight song.
-
I have to go back to the 60's and the first fight song that ever really gave me goose bumps when I heard it. Now of course I was only 9 - 10 years old.... But Barbers Hill did it. There fans and players really got into their fight song which is also their school song. I have always liked the songs that are unique. Some even have a local feel to them. Hamshire Fannett and Kirbyville have very unique songs. Another team I have always liked their song is Cuero. Kinda has a roll out the barrel kinda a tune. Makes you wanna go dance the polka. One thing about fight songs.. depending on how good are big your band is has alot to do with how much you enjoy hearing the tune. I just remembered something.. You can't let the old PA TJ song go by without some sort of mention here.
