West Orange-Stark vs. Cleveland
texaggies07 replied to monknuk68's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think WOS really has easier half of the region 3 bracket. Cleveland will play y'all tough, but y'all should be able to beat them. I have looked at the teams in that half of the bracket and maybe Smithville gives y'all a challenge. Other than that the other teams seem pretty weak. -

Yes he is the son of Curtis Barbay. His brother is the head coach at Anahuac. -

Really we have not been talked that much except for our fans. They don't even know us on the Smoaky board. We are ranked number three in most polls, but have not heard anyone really talk about us. I watch the high school scoreboard live show every Friday and not once have they mentioned us. I always hear them talk about Carthage, Henderson, Gilmer, and Chappel Hill. So we are actually kinda under the radar to most except for the few in the area that know us. It is kinda funny though before last year everyone was against us in every playoff game. This year we still have not earned any respect. Now were going to lose because we got the big heads. Not sure what we could do to earn respect from this area. -

I think the only people cranking the bus for Dallas are the fans. I guarantee Coach Barbay or any of the staff or players are not looking past Bridge City. The fans are only doing this because we are very excited about what we got and know what we got. We have some unfinished business. I thought last years team could not get any better, but this team this year could be much better. I know they look like they haven't been challenged, but I think that is untrue. I think this team is just very focused on finishing what last years team did not complete. I've seen players watching film after practice or staying out on the field after practice working extra on things. So trust me they are gonna be ready for every game all the way to Dallas if it works out that way. I sure hope it does. We are really humble over here in Coldspring, but at the same time we have a lot of passion for Trojan football and it has been this way ever since Coach Peveto came along and showed us how to do it. Coach Barbay has come in and renewed that passion. He comes from that same type of coaching linage. He was also here before when Coach Peveto was around. -

The whole country should get a good look next year when Lake Travis plays Don Bosco Prep from New Jersey. I'm really looking forward to that one. -

When they used to play the triple headers in the dome during the playoffs that would be a large crowd watching. My wife is from Arizona and she can't believe some of the stadiums or the amount of people that come to 3A games. I told her it is a way of life and always will be whether our kids are playing or not. -

What makes 21-3A so much better? Because all the games were close. I mean we could say all the top teams in that district are mediocre and played each other tough. I just don't understand the argument. Neither district has played each other yet. I think all three games are gonna be played on Saturday. We will see the which district is tougher. I don't think it will be any surprise which one comes out on top. I have been listening to this same argument for the last four years on this board. I don't think anyone is gonna convince that the football in 21-3A is better than 22-3A. I think if you look back the last few years we have gotten the best of y'all. -

Yeah our scheule does not look that great because we manhandled everyone, but three of the 4 teams played in non-district are in the playoffs. Crockett is actually a top team in 2A and their only loss on the season is to us. Huffman is going to be a formidable opponent for anyone. I'm sorry if u want to judge us by our schedule go ahead. If it gives u some false hope of winning so be it. You will see first hand what the Trojans are Saturday. Unlike last year where the offense really carried us more the defense may carry us more with the offense being the cherry on top. I really would rather have this way. It makes for a state championship caliber team. -

I don't think were unbeatable, but you are gonna have to bring your A game. -
I will take Huffman in this one. The offense is good, but the defense will be the difference maker. They are much better this year.

Teams get less than 100 yards a game on the Trojans. The avg. Rushing given up is about 47 per game and passing is 50. Just look in th SETx Stats and you will see the Trojan defense is at the top of every category.

Not much to say about this one. I will say I'm pretty impressed with 76 from Liberty. He is a big kid. He plays both ways and his motor never stops -

Not many fans made the trip from Liberty county over to San Jacinto for the game. -

Great post Grad. I occasionally get made fun of because I like or love high school football. Really though all u have to do is go and watch a game on Friday night and see what these young men put into it and how could u not fall in love with it. I truly believe this is football at it's purest form. No money involved. Just blood, sweat, and hard work. Plenty of Rudy stories to go around.

If the Coldspring Trojans shut the Liberty Panthers out tonight that means they will have only given up 54 points the entire regular season. Not real sure about State records, but this defense has to rank right up there with the best in history. What impresses me the most is a lot of back ups in the games in the second half not giving up points when it could have easily happened. Please let me know what y'all think. I really believe this could be a historical feat in our area for a defense.

Really Tarkington beat Coldspring with freshman? I find that hard to believe.

Does anyone know the records for the lower levels in 22-3A? I would really like to know. Thanks
