  1. Also Stephanie O'Neal had 6 saves in regular time and was super in the shootout with 3 outright saves and 2 hurries. Zuri Prince had the only goal scored in overtime by either squad.
  2. For those parents and others who may care Kelly...................0  2  2 Clear Springs........1  1  2 Kelly wins shootout Kelly goals: Caitlin Quinn and Lauren Zeto Kelly record: 7-2 It only gets tougher from here in this tournament but great experience for the girls.
  3. For those parents and others who may care Kelly.................6  0  6 IWA..................1  0  1 Kelly goals: Yasmine Afshar(2) Zuri Prince, Claire Dykeman, Caitlin Quinn, Mary Ellen Zummo Kelly assists: Julie Sherlock, Prince Kelly saves: Chelsea Reid(2) Stephanie O'Neal(1) Kelly record: 6-2 Playing in the Woodlands Tournament this weekend. Big schools, tough competition
  4. For those parents and others who may care Kelly.......................5  2  7 Houston Christian......0  0  0 Kelly goals: Yasmine Afshar(3) Claire Dykeman(2) Zuri Prince, Mary Ellen Zummo Kelly assists: Madeline Horning(2) Caitlin Quinn, Afshar, Dykeman, Prince Kelly saves: Chelsea Reid(3) Kelly record:5-2 It is games such as this which make us appreciate being able to scrimmage West Brook. I would assume WB feels the same based on the way the usually romp through their district with multi-digit wins. Wish Kelly and PNG could play this year for the same reasons and benefit of both teams.
  5. Kelly...............2  5  7 Episcopal.........1  0  1 Kelly goals: Caitlin Quinn(2), Yasmine Afshar, Helen Gambrah, Mary Ellen Zummo, Zuri Prince, Tara Austin Kelly assists: Claire Dykeman(2), Prince, Austin Kelly saves: Chelsea Reid(2) Stephanie O'Neal Kelly record 4-2 A close game at half and 3-1 at 60 minutes then Kelly wore them down in the last 20 minutes.
  6. The original post should have indicated that I had WB's Dolan for 5 saves. Feel free to throw your # or view on that Newbie if it differs. Certainly didnt mean to slight our friend Rachal. It was a beautiful goal. Big advantage to Kelly playing a mid-season scrimmage over a team taking the field for the first time. Kelly was missing 4 yr starter Teilor Long and 3 yr starter Lauren Zeto due to injuies which may have affected substitution patterns. Last year''s starter Anna Katherine Weid has been out all year due to a knee injury suffered in the Spring. I show 17 players for Kelly entered the game including 2 different goalies. It would be logical to expect a 5A school with 2000+ enrollment to have a deeper roster. I have every confidence that WB will win its district and advance to the playoffs; a very good team and we wish them nothing but the best.
  7. I have heard this referred to as both a game and a scrimmage. Not sure which is correct but it was played under game conditions. Kelly.............1  1  2 West Brook....0  1  1 Kelly goals: Claire Dykeman(2) Kelly assists: Zuri Prince, Madeline Horning Kelly saves:Stephanie O'Neal(4) WB goal: Aaron Strawser WB saves: Stacy Nolan Great match between two of the better local teams. Unfortunately, PNG cancelled the scheduled game with Kelly and can't reschedule so we won't get to see that game.
  8. Kelly..............0  0  0 St. Agnes.......1  1  2 Kelly saves: Stephanie O'Neal(8) Kelly record:3-2 St. Agnes had 7 shots on goal in first half and one went in at 10 minutes. Kelly had a mere 2 weak shots on goal in frist half. St Agnes had 3 shots on goal in second half and one went in at 78 minutes. Kelly had 5 shots on goal in second half and Agnes goalie made 2 impressive saves. Tigers are better at this stage of the season.
  9. Kelly................0  1  1 Duschene.........0  0  0 Kelly saves: Stephanie O'Neal(1) Kelly record: 3-1 Duschene played extremely defensively by keeping at least four or more players back the entire game. Most of the game was played in Kelly's offensive end of the field. Lady Dogs had 10 shots on goal and several others which were wide or high. Chargers had one shot on goal the entire game. Free kicks were 6 to 1. Nevertheless, the strategy was very effective at keeping the game close. The lone goal was a deflection of a Duschene defender at 70 minutes. The result was a frustrating, ugly game where the girls did not have much space in which to operate.
  10. Kelly..........6  2  8 St. Pius......0  1  1 Kelly goals: Yasmine Afshar(3) Zuri Prince(2) Lauren Zeto, Claire Dykeman Kelly assists: Madeline Horning(2) Dykeman(2) Kelly saves: Stephanie O'Neal(9) Kelly record: 2-1 res ipsa loquitor
  11. Kelly................0  1  1 St Agnes..........1  2  3 Kelly goal: Claire Dykeman Kelly assist: Yasmine Afshar Kelly saves: Stephanie O'Neal: 7 Kelly record: 1-1 Game tied at 60 minutes. St Agnes scores 2 goals in the last 20 minutes of a close match that got away from Kelly at the end. Tigers never seem to have a rebuilding year and have another atrong, well balanced side this year.
  12. Kelly..............4 0 4 St. Louis........0 1 1 Kelly goals: Lauren Zeto(2) Zuri Prince, Claire Dykeman Kelly assists: Jillian Ryall, Prince, Dykeman Kelly saves: Stephanie O'Neal (2) Record: 1-0 Kelly dominated this game scoring twice in the first 3 mintues. Saints had 2 shots on goal during the first 68 minutes of play. St. Louis score was late in second half. Headed toward an early season showdown with usual district champion St. Agnes next week. Should be interesting.
  13. Agreed:; he really makes an effort to talk to the coaches and find out learn their perspective Glad to have him covering soccer. Wish we had more coverage
  14. Sounds like some great soccer, wished I could have watched.
  15. Outstanding job by TWHS. Glad to have the trophy in the South. We know several girls on that team and they are outstanding players and young ladies.
  16. Be careful Sully and Bullets. These are tough times in the newspaper industry and I'm sure RC did the best he could. He does not have the Club background and years of watching these girls play. I see some arguable mistakes on almost every All-Star and All-America team. Be glad for the publicity. I mean they did pick Poole as player of the year. If you don't like their team, post your own.
  17. Can't have BB back. We love her. She should have, barring injury, one of the best senior laden teams in the area next year. What a career and what an athlete Annalisa Hall is! It has been fun to watch her on the club scene and she will be missed by Friendswood. Do you know where she will play next year?
  18. I want to make sure that my comments were understood to be a generalization and not any criticisim of Chloe, a great player. From all I know she is a dedicated, talented kid who works hard and has improved. I did not see but 3 PNG games and don't have any idea idea how many times she scored more than 3 goals. Don't care, becasue it probably wasn't that many and she would have had a tremendous Super Gold year regardless. Shark futbol is correct, celebrate these kids accomplishments. I will stand by my statement, however, that if you have a hat trick and your team is already up on an obviously weaker opponent, it is usually time to pass the ball even if you have an opportunity. I hope she gets 60 next year. SETX needs quality players and she is one of the best.
  19. well, we know Felts is going to TX, possibly one of the top programs in the nation. Presumably, they scout fairly well. Where is Parker going? Babino? Typically, follow the scouts and they will identify the best prospects. Felts could have played at any Big 12 school. How about the others?
  20. If any player has scored 3 times and their team is up 3 or 4 goals then they should pass to others. On the other hand, if it is a one or two goal difference regardless of how many goals a single player has scored, then the best scorer should score until game is secured. Scoring more than 3 goals in a blow out or double digit win is questionable
  21. yep, we have all seen it before; too many attenpts straight at the box instead of crossing from the outside to prevent the defense from setting up and staying established. Teams get in a habit of doing this when they play weaker competition and can out-athlete lesser opponents and score. Thanks for the report and FF had a great year. One of the top teams in the state. They will miss Hall.
  22. Three Kelly junior girls made the team. This bodes well for them next year. I note that in two games, they held PNG's talented, and Super Gold player of the year, Chloe Chaisson scoreless. Congratulations to all the girls on the team. Props to Yasmine Afshar, Madeline Horning and Zuri Prince. More evidence of Mike Hughes' great work with the Spindletop 93 team which is club home to 5 or 6 of these players. I thought Teilor Long should have had at least 2nd team recognition.
  23. Yes, FF is an antagonist and he relishes that role. He is backed by a real good program that he supports. Most of the time, he knows his facts(his dimissal of Dallas Urseline, being one of his recent misfires). His posts are provactive and sometimes ugly, sometimes controversial. If you don't want to read what he posts, skip it. Otherwise, I say let him speak. No more censorship. He thought Friendswood would beat Midway. Personally, I would like to read his observations on where he was wrong.
  24. FF, we need a game report> That one had to sting
  25. It was a great year for a young Lumberton team. The future should be bright next year.
