  1. Very good. Saw alot of 5A teams up there but no 4A or lower that ranked ahead of WO-S in the final poll.
  2. My bad, I checked it out, WO-S was #15 in the nation in the final 1987 USA Today poll. Could not find the pre-season poll but I thought Aldine MacArthur was #1.
  3. I thought that Aldine team was ranked #1 in the nation (USA Today), and I know WO-S was like #12 in the nation when the season was over, very rare for a smaller class school.
  4. Yes, it seemed like the 'Stangs were in the red zone all night. They were also playing without one of their stud running backs, Eric Williams who was injured in the Baytown Sterling game the week before. WO-S would have had a good chance to win it all if they could have pulled this one out.
  5. Remember that one too, Orange Stark lost their All American QB the week before against Bay City.
  6. The year 2000, Ennis 38, West Orange-Stark 24. Too little, too late. One of my favorite WO-S teams of all time.
  7. If this guy played for Tivy in '87 and '88 he ought to know first hand what kind of ball is played down here. Same story talking noise, averaging 80 points a game and then they met WO-S, left with 7 and 14 points respectively in '87 & '88. But Tivy did have good fans and the players were well coached. Should be a good game but I'll go with the Broncos.
  8. For some reason I don't think that this week's game will be decided by any controversial calls.
  9. I'm sure the young man will come thru like a champ, he's a player.
  10. You forgot one, WO-S 33 Gilmer 13 (11-2) And don't fret, word on the street says the balls you use next week bounce much truer.
  11. Truth is............................WO-S is not Mexia 11-2, third round not bad. And bring on all your underclassmen, next year it gets worse.
  12. How is a Gilmer/Carthage matchup possible? I thought Gilmer was playing in the Big XII championship next weekend. I don't know if even the Almighty Gilmer can pull that one off.
  13. Is it true that all WO-S teams combined this year, from 6 year olds to senior high are 108-0? That's what I heard.
  14. I've been here a long time but I still haven't seen this factory that WO-S uses, but I'll keep looking. The talent pipeline continues to run long and wide, sorry folks.
  15. I think we could've hit a bill-10 or bill-20 on a couple. Seriously.
  16. No, we'll probably have to put up with him all week, I believe the schools are out this week for the holidays. Curfew is not 10:00 this week. Maybe his parents will hear him pecking the keys and send him to bed.
  17. If Gilmer has a receiver better than Cardenas from Nederland I've got to see him. Gilmer gets a freebie on a turnover, WO-S 31, Gilmer 13.
  18. Southern-Blunder, I'll bet you your '84 Yugo and the travel trailer you're living in that Gilmer does not beat WO-S by 3 touchdowns. It's up to you hoss, talk to me.
  19. Skipper, don't worry about it, we got this one. I think this is one you bite your nails at first, then the 'Stangs bring it. It's all good.
  20. Just wanted to let these guys know how much we appreciate their broadcasts. Many times over the years we have'nt been able to make it to our favorite game, duh shift workers and such, and these guys bring it to our living room or our workplace. Thru the years these guys have always been there. Gary and his crew always bring a quality broadcast, from the color man in the booth to the field guy and the gals in the studio bringing us updates. Just wanted to say thanks guys/gals and keep up the great work.
  21. If you look close at the WO-S offense they have so many skill people that can hurt you. They can be very hard to defend. They are usually their own worst enemy. With the personel they have in place, if they execute and cut down on mistakes someone would be hard pressed to stop them. I know that is what everyone says but WO-S is literally loaded with skill athletes. I'm waiting for that game when they put it all together and now is the time.
  22. The Woodlands, Tx (AP) West Orange-Stark swarms Hornets. Caldwell's switch to spread offense in 2nd half proves unsuccessful. Coach accuses WO-S of having 15 defenders on field, slow motion replays show 11. After game WO-S fans donate state of the art drawing board for Hornet staff to go back to. WO-S agrees to foot bill for steam cleaning artificial turf at Woodforest Stadium.
  23. When I walk home from the Woodlands I take a different route. It's a little trickier than driving. First you want to get on Woodlands Parkway heading east, then take...........................
  24. I don't know how long it will take WO-S to adjust to this Slot-T or whatever but it won't be long before the Caldwell players go back the sideline asking their coaches "Who are these people?" Fingernails get shorter early but the 'Stangs do what the 'Stangs do and take care of business. WO-S rolls.
