[Hidden Content]
Thats just wrong...... :D :D :D

The only thing Crosby has going for them is they have a Shipley's donuts....

Brenham, late fg.
How good is your field goal kicker... Carranco has connected on a 40 yard plus field goal this year. It might just very well come down to a lot of field goals, if think it will be hard to punch the ball in on both defenses inside the redzone. Can't wait till tomorrow night!!! Talk about having layers and layers of clothes on, it will be cold, looks like game time temperatures will be in the 30's and there will probably be a pretty good north / northeast wind blowing.
He's good.. hit a 39 yarder in the PNG game with alot of yards to spare.
he has plenty of leg....but he kicks from the wrong side of the ball... ;D
We Shall See...
Doesn't matter....Brenham and Dayton have dominated for the last ten years soooooo it could go either way, both teams respect each other. PNG gets an undefeated season, a state ranking(?), and huh......nuff said.

I'd rather get tazed in the pecan sack than deal with snow. :o -
Like i said before...had Dayton played Brenham two rounds ago as did the Indians....everyone would be posting where are the Dayton Fans....its all about the draw... Our half of the bracket had Brenham and Angleton..Daytons half of the bracket consisted of El Campo and Waller... Easy...Dayton Fans! would like to pull for yall..but why should we? All we have to compare is us beating Crosby by 30 and yall losing to Crosby by 28...Lets see where yall go after this week?
I just love comedy. I would have bet my house that PNG wouldn't get past Brenham. Nice undefeated season in probably the weakest district in southeast Tx this year. PNG wouldn't make a pimple on El Campo's arse. It's cool though, keep dreaming. Maybe Dayton will come dominate the Golden Triangle again next year.

Not saying Brenham can't but just making a point. A person would think with the stats etc. that both Brenham and Dayton have put up over the last ten years they would give both teams a little more publicity/respect. As long as Katy, La Marque, and them Cy-Fair schools are in it there will be no love outside of Harris Co. Nothing like a little sports writer motivation for the CHOS!

I'm not going anywhere....bought me some new thermals for Saturday night. I'm battle tested so I'm ready ;D
Brenhams O Line was large. The Center was probably 6' and 220 and he looked like a midget next to the rest of the line. Everyone but the Center was 6'3" or better and pushed 270+. #90 on defense was a hoss. Only a Sophomore, but very good and huge (6'4" 290+ not exagerating). This kid will be one of the top prospects inthe nation his Senior year. You can throw on Brenham with the right scheme. We had some success in the passing game, just don't try to go deep all game long because the Safety #81 is a ball hawk.
#90 was a beast and extremely athletic...I agree

Brenham is ABSOLUTELY HUGE!!! FrioGal quote, "I would say size wise we are pretty even- I don't recall any players in green that I thought were terribly huge, in fact everyone I was with agreed that we match up pretty well in the size department". I don't know what FRIOGAL was looking at when she was at the game but it must have been Brenham's cheerleaders. Brenham's size could play a factor on the good and bad side of things. Either way it's the playoffs and the deeper each team get's the harder the competition. COACHES AND PLAYERS have to be flawless.
Just my opinion of course, for what it is worth and I still stand by what I said....sure, there were quite a few players with height but overall size, I think we match up pretty well. Of course, I also believe size is only a small factor and not necessarily one that determines the winner of a football game- seen it too many times to rely on that alone. Maybe, just maybe we have differences of opinion because we were sitting on opposite sides ;) I may have been dressed in purple but I was sitting amongst all that green! 8)
Didn't mean to call you out like that but man they had some hosses. Of course those white uni's make'em look that much bigger! ;)

Brenham definitely has some size at WR while Dayton CB's are larger than they typically are and should match up well I think. I don't really see the jump ball being as big of a play this week. That's going to be an interesting match-up to watch
I was thinking the same things watching the highlights of the game on Chron.com. It seemed there was more of a size mismatch than there will be with our DB's. Those were great catches no doubt, it just seemed the dbs were outsized. You guys that went to both games.... How do the teams match up as far as overall speed?
Dayton has the edge on speed in my opinion, especially Dayton's defensive front. I noticed on a few plays that Brenham runs they were slow developing pass plays in which I think Dayton's defensive front will be able to wear down Brenham's big front and get to the QB.
Well if you saw the way some of the Angleton Assistant Coaches conducted themselves on the sidelines, it will shed a little light on the way the players acted. Finis Vanover usually keeps a pretty tidy ship, but there was a lot of that street thug BS going on that really should be left off the field. And that goes for any team, the gridiron is a battlefield, but it is also a place of respect. I don't expect that in the Dayton Game, I have never seen anything but a class act come out of there.
Yeah, I agree. I couldn't believe the coaches were letting them get away with the players antagonizing the Brenham fans etc. There was some really classless stuff happening on the Angleton side. I was sitting right in the middle of all that purple 8). Honestly, I was really looking forward to watching Angleton because of all the hype they had been getting but I was really disappointed in their TEAM effort. They didn't have anything but three outstanding runningbacks (Diggs included) in which one played QB. That's it! They had some speed but Brenham had waaaaayyy more athletes on the other side of the ball. If Angleton can develop themselves a QB by next year then they MIGHT have a shot at beating some teams with some depth. -
Yeah it had a good view of the cheap shot #51 of Angleton gave Green after the winning score, forearm to the back of the head when he was on the ground in the endzone. Everyone wants to talk about Brenham's unsportsman like conduct, but they always seem to overlook this kind of stuff.
Man, that's pretty sorry. Their #9 really needed his clocked cleaned. -

I'm not a big stat person and I think the Massey stuff is fun to play with but stats will have no bearing on this game or any other game of this caliber. There are to many factors to consider during any given high school football playoff game. I could name just as many pros and cons for both teams. IMO Dayton has somewhat over achieved this year with what they have but they just keep coming out and winning week after week. That has to stand for something and definetely makes a believer out of me. Here's a recap for ya.....Angleton was really fast and broke 4 long runs for TD's. Brenham finally figures out that Angleton couldn't hit water if they threw a rock out of a boat and shutdown the run. Brenham rolls 32 unanswered points along with a ballsy fake fg to go ahead. Angleton show's their arse's because they finally realize how good they weren't. The end. -
I give my predictions after having watched both the Dayton vs El Campo and Brenham vs Angleton games. As a Dayton supporter I can say that we would have been so much better off against Angleton. Dayton would have been able to use their great defense to exploit Angleton's one dimension the exact same way Brenham did. Hats off to Brenham. Defense: Two really really good defenses. Dayton has always been stellar against the run and nothing is different this year. At first I was thinking Angleton was overrated then realized this was due to a good Brenham defense after they started breaking BIG runs. Angleton was ridiculously fast and nobody could have run those guys down from behind. I noted that neither El Campo nor Angleton were able to put together "real" scoring drives against each respective defense. Everything was scored on big plays that broke. Both defenses made adjustments accordingly but I would say Dayton did a better job. EC scored twice early and then Dayton's defense completely dominated them the rest of the game esp during the second half. Brenham made good adjustments as well and seriously slowed down Angleton but they still broke a few big plays and scored again in the second half. Of course it can easily be argued Angelton was better than El Campo. As far passing defense El Campo didn't throw much and Angleton threw even less. However when they did BOTH Dayton and Brenham got interceptions. Both D lines looked very good although I would give Dayton's the edge especially after seeing a Cub go down late in the 4th with what looked like a bad knee injury. Offensively both looked very similar. They both were able to slingshot off of momentum given by their defenses to rally for multiple scores and secure come from behind wins. Very impressive both managed the clock well and did just what was needed to win and then keep the lead. Both teams have two dimensional offenses. Passing, I only saw Brenham go #17(screen/wheel route/short passes) and #9(downfield, caught 2 TD balls). Dayton's coaches will obviously see this on film and be watching. I would say Dayton has more variety of receivers that get the ball even though they obviously wish they could throw it to Ploch every play. I have seen him play receiver, QB, Defensive back, and run down and knock guys off their block on kickoff. He's a team leader and that's exactly why Stewart put the ball in his hands at the end of the EC game to finish it off. Obviously both coaching staffs are top notch although Dayton has been in the playoffs every year since 96' when Stewart showed up at Dayton. Both teams are hungry. Brenham wants revenge and Dayton has been deep in the playoffs multiple times with zero ring to show for it. Gonna be a heck of a game. Winner goes to team with fewer mistakes/less penalties.
I give the edge to Brenham on Offense and the edge to Dayton on Defense. If Dayton's OC call's a good game then they will have a good shot for a win. Also, Dayton's secondary better have a good game as well. Going to be a good game. I still give the slight edge to Brenham based on what I saw against Angleton (size, athletes, upperclassmen etc) but Dayton can soooooooo win this game.
-
I tell you this much, Brenham was extremely loud at the Angleton game....
-
Man, Angleton was the fastest team that I've seen in awhile. There was definetely some bad attitudes on that team as well. I observed one of the guys giving the Brenham fans the number 1 sign on the kickoffs and I believe he was the one that was ejected at the end of the game, about as unclassy as one could be. Couldn't believe the Angleton coaches would put up with that crap. Anyways, I would give the edge to Brenham with their offense and upper classmen but I wouldn't count Dayton out at all, going to be a barn burner. Sticking with my earlier score. Dayton edges it out.
This game is going to be a battle to the last second. Two head coaches with great schemes, and truckload of great athletes on both sides. First and for most Dayton has to get pressure on Ty Schlottmann, if they don't it's going to be a long day. We shut down their offense with pressure, but don't think knocking Schlottmann out of the game would be a sure thing, because Brenham has depth, Senior Michael Buro is the back and he would start on most any other team. H proved his worth by coming in and throwing a TD pass in the third qtr. Brenham is 2 deep in all the key positions. They can keep fresh legs on the field. The history between these two teams will fuel some players, two step up. Dayton has a lot of speed, and even a bigger heart, this will be won or lost at the line of scrimmage. Dayton has a quick swarming D-line they need all they can get. This will be one to tune in to, I may make the trip just to see this one. These are the two strongest teams left in the playoffs as far as I am concerned, this one will be big for both teams and coaches. But I am leaning towards our district, Cubs by a touchdown 21-14.
Good post. It could go either way in my opinion. Schlotman was really rattled in that first half against Angleton but finally got it together in the second half. I was really impressed with Brenhams defense on those goal line stands. I think that was the game winner in my opinion. I am not worried about Dayton's defense in this one. It seems Dayton get's scored on one or two times and it's like they get it figured out. It's the offense, and which offense will show up. Dayton's offense cannot come out flat, period.
