Well, after watching Brenham against Angleton I am going to take the Broncos in this one. Brenham is huge on both front's. #90 on the defense is a beast but with the offense that Dayton runs he shouldn't be that big of a factor. He is definetely someone that COULD be a factor. #9 on offense is a heck of a receiver and will win the jump ball. The QB is not much of a factor but will run. BUT he runs with his freakn'head down and will absolutely get lit up if he does that against Dayton. I have no idea how he see's where he is going, really weird. Should be a good game, can't wait. Dayton 31 Brenham 24
[ Come on Bro.I didn't lie to y'all. Bear witness to the firepower. #5 for FW is just a soph. They are loaded with Sophs and jrs. It was almost a " no contest". I don't why the Jags didn't put game into the hands of their talented wr's. That might have kept the game close. FW plays in a system that executes. The Jags couldn't hold serve. I knew that FW would run it up to 60 plus if the Jags closed within 14 pts. It was too easy. The Jags were "clueless" in Baytown not one single sack when the staters for FW were in. No picks. Total domination by FW. They called off the Stangs to keep it under 50 pts. 24-4a has FW and Dawson in rd 4 next to face off again. Beaumont WBrook and Central are on the long ride home. No excuses, missed calls, etc. Just a plain old stampede by the Mustangs. 23-4A got a lotta moe fah you baby. Your much talked about number #44 was no factor at all instead it was #33 Barnes from FW that was the headliner today. 24-4A OWNS REGION III IN 2009. 24-4A IS STILL STANDING TAKING OUT THESE SLUGS AND THEY DON'T HOW WE DID IT. DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL JAG FANS, IT'S A 24-4A THANG YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND. IT MUST BE THE LIVING AND PLAYING IN THE COMPANY OF A DISTRICT THAT HAS A COMBINED EIGHT 4-A CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 1990.
Hope FW Fan doesn't read this because he will make sure your arse is in tutorials next week. Man I can't even decipher half of what you wrote. I thought FW was an academically sound institution? You just answered that question. I am now dumber for reading it. Thanks.

Nice win for FW. I was wondering which team was going to show up for Central. It just seemed like every week Central was hanging on by their fingertips. I stand by my assumption earlier in the year of 20-4A and that is it was weak this year. Sorry. I also think the playoff format with letting in so many teams is ridiculous. FWFan, keep'em coming. It's ashame we can't get another shot at you guys. 8)

ANgleton-Brenham game...Brenham Wins!!!!!!!!!!!!
7mary3 replied to Wildcat979's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ok, here's my opinion of this game. I wasn't all that impressed with Angleton as a "team". Diggs is an outstanding athlete along with Josey and the other runningback. Team speed was incredible but they were to one dimensional and it ended up biting them in the rear this deep into the playoffs. Brenham didn't quit and got their defense going. Heck, all they had to do was key on the run and it worked. Angleton couldn't pass the ball at all and when a team is this deep in the playoffs they have to be able to throw the rock, period. Once Brenham got the pass going Angleton's defense just absolutely quit, couldn't believe it. Then the unsportsmanlike conduct started from Angleton, wasn't impressed. -
is Franks still headed to OU are is it Texas now

can someone please edit the topic from "OLK" to "OU"......thanks -
Their defense was pretty stout....don't usually run into teams that are as athletic as we are but they were....well almost anyway. Yea one dimensional for sure....and the pass interference....cmon man that's a no call in my book on a jump ball but whatever.
Could have gone either way but I happen to be looking at our defender and he did have both hands on the receivers jersey....i'm just sayn' :-\
Having one less day certainly showed in the first quarter. Looked a little lethargic on defense letting them bust the two big plays early. The defense came back to normal after that and El Campo couldn't get anything going. Their defense played really well and their special teams had us pinned back most of the night and them starting around the 40 on every drive. Missed some big plays on some uncharacteristic bad throws but made some really good throws as well. In the end, too many weapons for the Dayton offense. El Campo really limited the big play and they played a heck of a defensive game but the Broncos really dominated the second half and the 4th quarter. The O-line really started to play in the second half. Survive and advance.
Hey Rollin, is there any way we can get a petition going to get rid of that dang swing pass!!!!!!!! 8)

Yesterday doesn't matter to me personally but yesterday is always fun to talk about. Tomorrow is what matters IMO. I would love to see a rematch between FW and Dayton because tomorrow's game would be nothing like yesterday's because both teams are playing lights out football right now and Dayton has a different QB. The rematch between BC and FW will be just as good as last year's BUT I really just don't know what BC team will show up. Will it be the team that struggled against a two year program like GCM or the team that came from behind last week against Huntsville. Who knows?! FW is going to bring it no matter what.
you're dang right they did...X Franks riding #66 to 200+ yards...that O Line made it happen
I've been saying all year that this O line is one of the best I've seen. Untill recently the rest of the offense has stalled from time to time. Looks the whole offense is firing on all cylinders now! Amazing blocking clinic in the Waller game, by not just the O line, but the receivers as well.
Armchair coaching but they have to keep giving Franks the ball. That helped the offense in so many ways the other night.
I hope the armchair coaching comment wasn't direct @ me...I'm just stating facts...dayton's O Line owned Waller...
Not at all, haven't you heard I'm the best armchair qb this side of the Trinity. With the run game there it really opens up Dayton's offense. -

Dayton vs. E.l. Campo predictions?
7mary3 replied to knightrider's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There's no doubt El Campo is the real deal or they wouldn't be in the 3rd round. BUT Dayton is the real deal as well so this should be a pretty good match up. Dayton's offense cannot sputter or turn the ball over. I give Dayton a slight edge with the experience factor. Dayton's defense holds. Dayton 31 El Campo 14 -
I think Barbers Hill should look for the following in their new head coach/athletic director: 1) A proven winner as a football coach at least 80% lifetime winning percentage as a head coach 2) Someone who has shown they can win over time not just one or two years (at least 100 wins as a head coach) 3) Someone who has consistently taken his football teams to the playoffs (75% of the time) 4) Someone who has made the playoffs at the 4A level with a small enrollment (50% in the playoffs and a district championship once in 4 years would be great) 5) Someone who has been an athletic director and had success in all other sports also (multiple district championships in cross-country, volleyball, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, and golf) 6) A good Christian man with high morals and values 7) Someone who can direct the district in building projects as needed 8) Someone who can oversee various events such as district track and cross-country meets, golf tournaments, playoff games, etc. with a high level of professionalism and knowledge to ensure they are handled properly 9) Someone well respected by area coaches and athletic directors Does anyone think Barbers Hill will be able to find this person? You just allowed a small group of parents and spineless administrators run him off. Morons!
Left out the most important. THE PLAYERS HAVE TO BELIEVE IN AND RESPECT THEIR HEAD COACH. Right now they don't. The rest is secondary. -
Trust me, I'm not throwing in the towel. It's just not a good math up for us. I'm not saying we don't have a chance. We just match up better with other teams. There's a grudge match I wanna see...minus Cody Green this time.
When you get to the 3rd round of the playoffs it really doesn't matter. The teams that are left are all really good teams. Brenham is more of a balanced offense and Angleton is more of a one-dimensional team. Both defenses are good as well. I say take your pick.

I don't know anything about Dawson but weren't the skeptics saying the same thing about Montgomery with their QB and runningback. I believe they have just about the same stats (Dawson/Montgomery). They still have to play the game. Here's what Massey thinks: [Hidden Content]
