[Hidden Content] That's 2 games for missing class. Care to guess what happens if he skips "practice man, we're talking about practice?"
-
Good points BMF and Hawkeye...let's just hope that he continues to improve because overall he did look better against King then he has all year...minus the first two plays from scrimmage. I like the kid, I'm just not quite "drinking the Kool-Aid" quite yet...I think BMF might actually be making the Kool-Aid !

Hmmm...let's see...they made a commitment to the team and then they broke it. I'm sure everyone has a wife who would understand this: "but honey, I had free tickets to the strip club." Think you'd be "suspended for one quarter" in that scenario??
-
Isn't that life lesson being taught right now? I think you've left the infield on this one unless you've got more information then we do. Still can't see how you can call the parents out on this one.
-
You should be careful of criticizing the way parents raise their kids on here, you'll find out that is a RIDICULOUS comment that you wish you could take back. Second that...on the outside looking in...doesn't look good. However, we don't know NEARLY enough information to start throwing parents under the bus.

Bellow apologizes to Vidor, but beats Pirates with 3 TDs

"sigh" starting to look that way... -
Anyone have any idea where next week's playoff game is going to be?

Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?

Hmmm...illness was never an acceptable excuse with the coaches I played for. I'm rocking the black and gold today as well but fortunately for me they were the college colors so no allergic reaction... -
Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?

I thought a 5 was outside shoulder of the guard and 9 was outside shoulder of the tackle. Depends on the system I guess but I can live with that...thanks for the scouting reports as well. No even and odd on different sides. Think of the center as 0 then go outside shoulder for 1, center/guard gap for 2, inside shoulder guard 3, head up guard 4, outside shoulder guard 5, guard/tackle gap 6 etc... -
WTF Nederland??? Skipping practice to go watch an NBA game?? They're lucky something like that only netted them a one game suspension because I doubt their excuse for missing practice was "we're going to an NBA game." Don't know the story but that sure sounds like a commitment problem... Hopefully you still beat Lumberton and we're now bringing at least 13 Dayton fans to come see it.

I think you hit it right on the head hawkeye. The precision of the LT passing attack was beauty in motion. It's not the necessarily the coaching staff's fault or anyone's fault but when you see something that amazing you just hope the home team can deliver that same efficiency. It's not as if those receivers were running free all over the field...the coverage was actually pretty good...the offensive execution was just better. The athletes on that side of the field were not any better and I'd venture to say player for player were not as good. Teamwise however, they were far greater than the some of the parts. Crisp routes, great timing, good blocking (and a tad of holding:), great catches. Just hadn't ever seen anything like that in High School.

Vidor vs. Livingston Predictions?
rollinac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That's the reason I assumed he was the same QB. He was elusive and turned a number of sacks into positive yardage including one big gain that I remember. I think he had 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles but I'm not 100% on that. -
Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?

Hmmmm....I'm still going to go with the best offense is a good offense...call me crazy. Someone give me a quick rundown of the base offense/defense for each of these teams and the key players (by number please). Nederland runs the spread and then hopes the other team fumbles on defense from what I've heard on this board. Lumberton grinds it out in the I formation and has a tough run d out of a base 4-3. Is that about right or have things changed from last year? -
Vidor vs. Livingston Predictions?

Jake you are talking about a few Vidor fans not all of us. Go back and look at my post on the Ned-Vid thread. We lost because we could not defend the pass. We are as good as anyone in the district with our running game and run defence, but bring in a good passer and receiver combo and you know the outcome! > You are correct. I should not have grouped your whole fan base together based on the comments of a few. I agree that if Vidor had a better QB/WR combo that the game might have been different, but just think how good Nederland would be if we had some semblance of a defense! So, I guess it goes both ways! Actually, your defense looked a heck of a lot better than it did against Livingston. Not dominant, but they were at least effective. Of course Livingston has more speed than anyone in this district I believe. I just hope we find a way to slow Harris down this week, or this could get ugly. Our defensive line had better step it up and get in the backfield on Friday night. Haven't seen him this year but Livingston's QB turned the ball over 4 or 5 times against Dayton in the playoffs last year. He made a number of ill-advised throws into triple and quadruple coverage when he was pressured. I assume they have the same QB this year. -
what 5 passers would you put ahead of him? I'm only 27 and can't remember that many. Dakarai was the best RUNNING QB at Dayton. didn't throw much (wishbone offense, i believe) I hope you don't want names because I can barely remember the kids names that are on the team now. #8 from 1990-91 was the best; #11 from 1994 could throw the best deep ball although that team was terrible. After that it's a toss up but I'd say those were the two best pure passers and I'm not sure that if I sat down and looked at it all that Cody would make the top five as a passer. Sorry, I thought #10 made that catch against NF... Dakarai was the best QB/athlete period to ever come through there. I'd like to see what he could have done in this system...he was in a running offense but don't think he couldn't throw the ball. Update: Can't find any archived team rosters anywhere so I'll just leave it at that.

Dayton vs. Kingwood Park Predictions?
rollinac replied to cutt's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i agree soulja dayton had better concentrate on the game at hand and quit worring bout who they play in round 1 . lats beat kingwood park the worry bout next week :o No see that's the thing...it absolutely doesn't matter what happens in our game as we've already clinched the district and we're playing an 0-9 team that got their head beat in every game in their first year of existence. Hence, we're all looking forward to the first round of the playoffs as that is the next meaningful game. Coaches and players will be concentrating on this game...doesn't mean the fans are. -
Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?
rollinac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Sounds to me like yall are missing the Dayton game not to see Nederlands improved offense but to see what Lumberton really has. Someone seems to be a little worried about the first round. :-[ Worried...uh no. Wanting to see what's making such loud noise in East Texas...well a L-Train makes a lot of noise and Nederland has offense coming out the ears. Plus, wouldn't it be fairly ignorant to predict a winner when you've only seen one team play? This way I'm justified next week when I say we're going to clean the field with the L-Train. -
Charles had his shortcomings as well and he doesn't come anywhere near Cody in the rushing category. I wouldn't quite call him a phenom...although his combination of size and speed is something we haven't seen before. I'm just think he's a little short in his ability to throw the ball downfield. Think back to how many passes he completed over 15 yards where you said to yourself..."that was a great throw." I've yet to do that this year. Now the catch #10 (can't ever remember his name) against North Forest sure made that throw look better than it was. Last week against King he woefully underthrew AJ on a play that turned out to be a touchdown. AJ was wide open out of the 5 wide empty backfield set. The throw was not a good one and the linebacker almost got a piece of that ball. I'm not saying he can't throw the ball 65 yards or that he can't throw the deep out or the post...I'm saying that he doesn't do it consistently. Overall, he's top notch because he's such a good runner (although he seems to pick the wrong hole on occassion) just worried about his ability to get the ball downfield. Hasn't hampered us yet because we haven't been in a nip and tuck game where every play counted. I'd just like them to take the whole pie this year and they could do it. But Cody will have to improve his ability to get the ball downfield against better teams. Of course, that's not to say that he can't improve between now and the end of the season. PS - Passing wise, I'm not sure I would put him in the top 5 of all time Dayton QBs. PSS - That being said, he may be the best overall QB Dayton has had. Dekauri (spelling on that one please) probably has that one locked down right now but we'll see.

How about Adam Sandler drilling the ref in the nads twice in a row in the Longest Yard remake...?

Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?
rollinac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You should probably put the cares in the past tense as we'll likely be your first round opponent. Who ever said we didn't like you anyway? Raideroldtimer makes me laugh out loud at least once a day. We just don't think your football team can beat ours...hence the posts on this forum. How many of you who played didn't want obnoxious fans that were behind you 100%? Nederland is a good preview as they run a similiar offense...just take what they have, add a little more speed and athleticism, throw in a better defense, and paint it Purple and you have Dayton. If you don't like it then don't read it...pretty easy huh? Or you could just take the simple advice of BMF and throw down a Zoloft dude. -
Dayton vs. Kingwood Park Predictions?
rollinac replied to cutt's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I bet it ends closer than most people think...I doubt Dayton lays it on the line too much or shows too much of the arsenal.
