Ok Nederland...we've heard a lot of talk about the improved offense and we want to see it. We're bringing at least 9 Dayton fans and sitting on the Nederland side. Do your part and get us the first round match-up we want to see. One of those 9 will be missing his first Dayton game in 36 years.

He's a high school quarterback. He's got 2 years of playing QB under his belt, so comparing him to Gilbert and Karam like someone did earlier is not a good comparison as both have been playing QB for at least 6 years and coached for longer than that. He missed 3 open receivers??... you'll see that with almost any QB you watch at any level. Also, Cody makes throws that typical high school QB's cannot make (i.e. 20 yd out) and that includes Greg (who did a great job btw). Our receivers also drop some of those downfield and short routes as well which drop his completion % (12 drops vs. Fwood), so it kinda evens out. I think we expect him to play like the players on sat. and sun. because he is so highly recruited. Just give him some time. It's undeniable that he is much improved as a runner AND a passer since the beginning of the year. He's highly recruited because he's got two things you can't coach...size and speed. It's one thing to "miss" as in "not see" receivers that are open because you've only been playing quarterback for two years. It's another thing to miss a wide open receiver you do see because of another thing you can't coach and that's the ability to throw the ball accurately DOWNFIELD. He's a top notch quarterback and makes our offense hard to stop...but he does have shortcomings. I just have a bad feeling it will show up in a close game (we haven't had many of those remember) when he misses a wide open receiver on a crucial play. Gregory Charles threw a perfect 20 yard out against Texas City in the playoffs last year. He also threw the post and the corner routes well. He may not be a better overall quarterback but he was better throwing the ball downfield. Not saying I don't want the kid...he's a great kid as well. I just hope he lives up to some of the inflated expectations.

He is inconsistant at about a 65% completion rate, one of the highest in the SE Texas. C'mon bronco1...you're embarrasing the bronco faithful here. It's inconsistEnt and yes he is inconsistent. He overthrew AJ on the first play of the CE King game...missed three wide open receivers against Galena Park including one-hopping at 12 yard in-route. His downfield throws are very inconsistent and he bolsters the completion percentage with a lot of short passes. As a passer, Gregory Charles was a better quarterback but he can't run like Cody can...well few can run like Cody can.

It better be as I'll be driving a LONG way to see their game tonight. I'll be sitting on the Nederland side since no male outside Lumberton has ever worn any clothes that color blue.

I don't think it helped that Lumberton's band was playing dixie?

Please stop focusing on them...everyone wants to see you lose and end up in Dayton for Bi-District. We all do as well...Livingston actually has some athletes on their team.

I'd like to check out this game...is it in Nederland or Lumberton? I think Dayton's JV could take out Kingwood Park and I'd rather go see an exciting game that may contain a playoff opponent.

Sorry man but Cleveland always seems to melt down at some point or another. You've ALWAYS had GREAT athletes there but never seemed to be able to put things together on the football field. I wouldn't be surprised by anything Cleveland does in the playoffs because the players are there and have always been.

I don't like the idea of taking anyone lightly...especially in the playoffs. Lumberton will try to grind it out and if they can come out fired up and take control of the ball, then they could turn it into an ugly game. I don't think that will be the case but I just wish Dayton would take the ball for once when they win the coin toss and jump out to an early lead. Making a running team play catch-up usually amounts to a W. That being said, they looked unstoppable against King but Green's inconsistency bothers me for a deep playoff run. Put that Lake Travis QB on this team and I'd bet they would end up 16-0. That kid was the best passer I've ever seen in a high school game. Didn't hurt when his receivers also made 3 one-handed catches.

They usually play their back-ups once the game is decided but he will run up the score when he thinks he was given a raw deal. See Crosby game from 2002. I'm actually surprised he pulled the starters from the Galena Park game this year after all the trouble their superintendent caused 3 years ago. Of course there was the Nederland game from last year...don't really think he meant to run it up quite like that...running the same play up the middle with the back-ups most of the second half is not running it up.

When you don't lose very many games you tend to remember the ones that you did. The whining comes from the fact that we are in no man's land...Houston doesn't cover us and we're out of the Beaumont territory. Get's a little old when the houston high school sports "experts" pick CE King to beat you in a landslide...makes you wonder if they've actually paid attention to HS football outside of 5A in the last 13 years. More along the lines of frustrating because before we moved to the Beaumont district 2 years ago we barely got media coverage of any type despite year after year of making the playoffs year after year. The whole point of the forum is to say something that gets a reaction and response from other posters. If we were all on here posting "no you're better; no you're better" all the time then it really wouldn't be a very interesting board now would it? It's pretty easy...if you don't like the spirited banter from the Dayton fans then don't read it. I wouldn't use "lurking" either...tends to make me think of the people who have to register with the county and aren't allowed within 100 feet of children. I'll probably get dinged by the webmaster for that one.

Yeah we're pretty obnoxious I would say. We've earned that right after just completing our first ever playoff season in the history of our school and having the looks of another playoff season this year. D-train steamin' along again...

If Nederland beats Lumberton and Livingston beats Vidor, Dayton will play Lumberton in the first round of the playoffs. If Lumberton wins, they will play Crosby regardless of what Livingston does. If I'm Lumberton, I'm trying real hard to beat Nederland. Possibly, they look pretty salty right now. One key injury could turn that around. Coach Stewart doesn't mind rubbing someone's face in it either...especially if he feels like they were jobbed (ie...the playoff seeding decision from last year)!

What is the playoff scenario that pits Lumberton against Dayton? Dayton already has secured the #1 seed in 20-4a regardless of what happens. I looked at the standings in 19-4a and without knowing who beat who...????

I have to agree that PN-G's fans are awesome. Football is still a team game regardless of how good the players are. Yes a great player can dominate in High School and sometimes in college, but the talent pool remains largely the same from year to year. However, sometimes the talent pool doesn't match the systems the coaches have in place and it's on the COACHES to change that system to better fit the talents of their players. When they don't do that you'll see seasons like the one PN-G is having. You're not going to be able to line up and run the ball down someone's throat play after play, year after year. That offense hasn't been updated since WWII and the players there are not a good fit for the system this year. PN-G will be back...no one can have a fan base like that and continue to suck!!

0-10 man those were some lean years...show's what coaching does. That 0-10 team had as much talent as any team to ever come through but the coaching may have been some of the worst coaching. I guess that's what happens when you hire a new head coach based on what church he attends. Nice job whoever was in charge of the head coach search that landed Jerry Stewart and good job Dayton ISD for keeping him around.

lumberton will get there butt handed to them on a diamond platter 48 7 Maybe not quite that bad but Lumberton will have a chance in a grind it out close game. If it becomes a shootout, they won't stay up and it could get ugly. Of course, I've been wrong before.

Sorry but have you seen who Dayton plays this week? Of course they're going to be looking forward to next weeks game. I doubt Lumberton is looking forward though but possibly. Would like to see that game because it would hopefully shut everyone up from both sides.

Never know what can happen with turnovers...that being said I expect North Shore to come out on top in a closer than expected game from reading the posts. NS - 34 WB - 31
