Doesn't matter...and who cares. For Dayton fans it will be nice for there to actually be some fans on the other side of the field (there were more Dayton fans than CE King fans for their "home" game). Dayton got beat by Lumberton and destroyed Livingston in the playoffs...that was last year so we'll see. Personally, I like to play Lumberton in the first round in the proverbial "strength vs. speed matchup." Either way, fans from 20-4a will bring it and that is something to look forward to.

It really doesn't matter because unlike the BCS...the playoffs are settled on the field!

Didn't take much coaching to shut down King. You can't run the same play over and over...they busted one nice run on a reverse and then took 9 plays to get it in from the 22 yard line.

North Forest is the combination of two former 4a schools...Smiley and Forest Brook. They are allowed to stay 4a until the next reclassification but they're WAY over the 5a line.

Check last year's playoff score against the "tough" Livingston team.

They've clinched the district but I'm sure they take this game serious as to not get rusty...

Wow was that all he had? That was the best game they've played all year offensively...just what was King thinking though...this guy number 8...uhhh Dugat is his name...we can single cover him no problem...woops.

From an outsiders perspective and after having only seen PNG twice...coaching. The offense is severly outdated and players aren't put in a position to take advantage of their strengths.

It's really more teams that can do both. Friendswood is the only team I've seen in recent years that consistently has beaten Dayton's defense and it's because they have big lineman and a good power running game and they play action off of that well.

PNG just from the atmosphere, but can you please bring the offensive game plan to at least 1960. The wing-t just isn't what it once was.

Big teams with power run games are the only teams I've seen give Dayton's defense much trouble. I'm still leery since Dayton's defense lost 5 starters before the season to off-field stupid decisions. Still I would expect Dayton to put up about 34-40 and see if King can top it.

How's he doing this year...and what happened to his "Guaranteed" victory against Dayton in the playoffs last year?

I couldn't have said that any better myself. Last week Galena Park (who's a stout 25 minute drive) brought all of 10 people to a game they really needed to help their playoff chances. Compare that to PNG (at least an hour drive) bringing 3,000 or so and I still can't get that fight song out of my head a year later because they played it from the opening kickoff through the end of the game. They also stayed all the way through till the end even though the game had pretty much been decided. Sure miss the atmosphere that created.

How'd that scrimmage go with "Rival" Dayton? They should all be on the list! Absolutely---name the entire raider team and close nominations The HATERS are out in full effect! We love it. Go ahead keep on HATIN'. They are all very worthy of making this team. You will see and you will probably still HATE!!!

Is Dayton any good in Basketball?

Dayton had the #1 scoring defense in the state for class 4A. Congrats to Mr. Hussey, quite a snub for AJ though. He was the 2nd best player I saw this year behind that Jaquizz kid from Lamar (reminds me of Dante Hall with Barry Sanders moves). Can't believe the Gilbert wasn't the all state QB though...almost 5000 yards, c'mon now writers.

Man did they execute, this may be the first and only time I'll ever say this. Dayton got outcoached last night. The run was there all night and the middle of the field was there all night for the pass but we never even looked there. Fumbles, interceptions, that's certainly not the Dayton we're used to seeing. What a quarterback though. It's not like those guys were wide open either, he was just on the money with perfect timing and was a little tough to bring down when we had him numerous times in the backfield. Why were we so flat though?

This isn't the '80s anymore, Permian is no longer the best high school team in their own town. I played with 2 guys from Southlake in College and they've got a powerhouse. Size, speed, coaching, athleticism. There's a reason they go to state every year. Katy is not far behind. I heard somewhere that Southlake actually has 9 former players in the NFL. I know that Kris Brown went there but I have no idea who the others are. I'm sure someone, somewhere on this site could actually compile a list of Texas High Schools with the largest number of players in the NFL. That might be something to look at or may even need to be another topic.

Lake Travis couldn't shut down Beeville Jones and from the looks of it, their defense hasn't shut down anyone all year. Look, this is the Patriots/Colts match-up from years past. The high glam offense against the great defense. What's overlooked, as was with the Patriots, is the match-up on the other side of the ball for both teams. LT will probably score some points, but Dayton's offense doesn't exactly suck either. 3 top notch receivers, 1 great receiver, a good running back, and a good quarterback. Pick your poison, they can run or pass. Balanced team vs a pass happy offensive team. Who would you pick? I've never seen these guys play before, unlike Dayton's Crosby, Texas City, Livingston, and Waller playoff run thus far so I'm interested to see if Lake Travis lives up to the hype.

Dear dme1111, I have no idea how they do it either. They shut down a really good Nederland spread offense and then come back the next week and stuff a really good PN-G smashmouth running game. They run a 3-4 because they can never seem to find the hogs up front, but athletes they do have. That 63-0 game was bit of a fluke though, Nederland was a much better team than the score indicated. I'd take any of the top 5 teams from our district and say they could have beat Livingston and Crosby for sure, Waller probably, and 50/50 for Texas City. How in the heck are Texas City and Dickinson 4A anyway? They must be right below the cut-off for 5A.
