Does anyone know where they "grow" the catfish for this place? It sounds like there's a large "catfish growing" operation going on in Silsbee in a big "catfish barn?" This is a catfish place and not a "catfish coffee house" like they have in Amsterdam?

Even if we did become a passing team, we don't have the speed to compete with the fast corners and receivers like Central and Ozen have. Call me what you like, my fellow Vidor fans included, but I am a realist. I think we have a potential to make the playoffs and a slim possibility of a district championship down the road. But I don't see us ever in the state championship, as the playoffs are where the faster teams from around the state end up. You never know...Kerrville Tivy did not have much speed, they just had football players. Problem for teams that run the ball 60 times per game is that they've got no chance if they get behind. Speed helps but straightline 40 speed is over-rated in the game of football.

Way out of SETX but Denver City, TX just passed a huge bond for a new sports complex (stadium, fieldhouse, locker rooms, etc...). Budgeted at about $35MM. For a school district with less than 1,000 students that will make it a nice facility. Gotta love school districts taking advantage of $140/barrel oil prices as Denver City is out in the Permian Basin south of Midland.

No joking aside, I didn't know soccer was a high school sport until a friend of mine from LCM was talking about their soccer team. SOCCER TEAM...in Texas?? Of course, American Football was doing pretty well in Germany when I lived there so I guess you never know...

Don't worry...We've got some studs coming down the pipeline 7-varsity lost a total of 3 games this year...of course I just don't know their names yet:)! I certainly wouldn't mind a third round playoff exit next year to anyone. After the last two years I'm not sure my stomach can take another deep playoff run next year...oh wait maybe it can!!

There's really not that great a difference in talent across the state between the best teams and the worst teams. The better teams just have a program that seems to get the most out of the talent. Stevie Ray is right...it does start on the second grade level. Look at Dayton for example...didn't quite have the lean years LCM and Stephenville had but they were 3-7, 0-10, 1-9, 2-8 the four years prior then Coach Stewart takes them to the playoffs in his first year with probably less talent than was on any of the previous four teams. Keep your head up LCM...if your administration can get the right guy, he'll turn it around. That being said, I used to do a lot of work with the local governments (including the school districts) there in Orange County...some of the most difficult people I've ever had to work with and some of the politics were just down right asinine. The administration should form a search committee to go out and recruit a new head coach IMO. Sitting back and waiting on people to apply is probably not going to get the job done. What's there to attract a coach that doesn't already live there?? Quality of life, attractions, air quality, Chili's, the new La Quinta, Shangri-La? Only so many good coaches come from one area and sounds like WOS already has most of them locked up. Chances are any of the remaining ones probably end up at PN-G. Hopefully this doesn't end up being a train wreck in LC-M but it's not sounding so good thus far.

The fact that a 9th grader actually made the varsity in Dayton says a lot.
