I like how you think, that will eventually open play action and the deep threat. Like any other playoff game, this will be about putting points up every possesion and making the most of turnovers. They'll give you the underneath, they won't give you the big play. Dayton was moving the ball on the ground and through the air but killed themselves with turnovers trying to throw a 14 point touchdown pass in the second half. They doubled AJ and took him out of the game. Dayton had the #1 scoring defense regardless of division in the state going into that game.

He's certainly gotten better as the games have gotten bigger. 3 deep throws on the money and another where Terry cut the route just a tad short. He hits the deep ball consistently and there's nothing you can do to stop this offense and he tops the list easily. Yes Stacey10, that overthrow was on the receiver. Happy?

That may be true but it just means that they're that much more rested. FW, you have a great team but you're unfortunately on the wrong side of the bracket. You probably beat 2 of the remaining 3. Defense is getting better every week. Quicker to the ball and swarm tackling, Killer B style. As good as the offense is I still think Stewart is a defense first coach.

I think it was on their last drive where they scored. Play after they hit the Washington #3 on the deep post I believe. I couldn't see who made the hit from Dayton but had to be a safety (what I get for sitting too close to the field). Folded the kid in half just about. There's no way he knew where he was when he got back in the huddle.

Everything I've seen on the various state HS football sites is Dayton winning Region IV (unanimous, I couldn't believe that). Most had Everman winning region I, Rockwall-Heath winning Region II, and a myriad of teams coming out of region III. Probably the most prominent were Kerrville-Tivy and Edouch-Elisa. Most picked Everman to win state (all but 1 who picked them to get there picked them to win). No one had Sulphur Springs making it this far. Interestingly, every single bracket or prediction I saw had Dayton winning this region and whoever they picked winning region III beating Dayton. Interesting because I saw just about every team from that region being picked to win by someone. Weird how these "experts" think. Their predictions for this week have yet to come out so I'm interested to see them now that the games are actually set.

They played a tampa 2 mostly and they go to a nickel versus the spread as their base defense. They'll go to a dime on third down. The middle of the field will be open and they have a bit of a hard time against the run between the tackles out of the spread. They are big, fast, and athletic and will make you sustain drives to score. They also do a good job of making you 1 dimensional.

Defensive Player of the Year as well?? How many defensive players of the year played on a team that gave up 63 points and lost 63-0? Figure that one out.

Alright, did some scouting on Kerrville...they run a spread style offense similar to ours where they are pretty balanced run vs. pass. These are the type of teams that give Dayton problems sometimes depending on the type of athletes they have. I've got a good feeling about this game. Remember that Dayton was in the game versus Travis last year and it didn't get ugly till the second half when the boys tongues were dragging the ground. This team has an explosive offense as well so it'll probably be the team with the best defense that wins this game.
