At this point in the season, they're all that good! Kerrville Tivy, Dayton, Everman, Sulphur Springs...any one of these teams can win it.

Didn't Nederland have someone make all state last year because of who recruited him that didn't make all district. Well recruited doesn't always mean played the best.

I didn't...this will be a high scoring game. They average 49 and give up 15 or so. They'd put up 40 on ATM...alright they're not that good...but I bet they'd score.

Lake Travis - 38 Friendswood - 24 LT puts up more than 38...FW is pretty good but just trust me...you're going to see a team like you've never seen before. They've got a talented defense but they don't seem to concentrate on it like they do their offense. They're going to try and shut down your best skill player and their whole goal is to make you punt once because they think they can score every time. FW can put some points up but you'll have to play a perfect game and catch some breaks but MAYBE you can pull off the biggest upset of the year. Having seen both teams more than once, I just have a hard time seeing FW keep up in this one. Good luck.

That's where you're probably wrong Soulja. Their defense gives us a lot of points and doesn't look as good on paper as Central. Trust me man, they've got the athletes on defense as well...their offense tends to score quickly and doesn't take up much time off the clock. Their defense might not have quite the athletes Central does but they're not far behind. Friendswood will probably put up some points but just not enough.

Just a minute dude...you're the same guy that posted threads about JK being the only real QB around and various other posts disrespecting all the other teams around here. Then you get out here and call Central fans hypocrits? Get over yourself man and don't be surprised when everyone roots against your team.

Rivels.com has Shepperd listed #2 ,Cody Green #5 and Gilbert #6 in the nation. By the way, Jacob Karam is #21. My bad, Rivals is where I was looking and I saw the two familiar names...overlooked the Shepperd kid. My point was Gilbert is not the #1 ranked QB in the state, but he's the best I've ever seen and I watch a pretty darn good one every week.

They probably know the song LT's band plays after they score a touchdown by heart.

Great read and some very good points. Some may like it some may not, but clearly it's here to stay. I do prefer watching athletic lineman pulling and getting blocks downfield. Way better than watching 5 fatboys run the old, boring, 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense.

Didn't see the play or the fumble but the local radio station describes it as apparent fumble return for a touchdown then officials confer and ruled an inadvertent whistle stopped play. Not a Beaumont or Houston radio station either. Doubt that'll help quell the argument but that's what came over the High School Football report on shine all nine.

Agreed...their offense last year was the best offense I've ever seen in High School regardless of division.

Wow, what a game Cody Green had tonight. AJ had two rushes and no receptions and they still blew the doors off Brenham. Of course they were double teaming AJ and rolling a safety over the top. Apparently they've been reading this board and didn't think Cody threw the ball well downfield either. I've got to hand it to the young man...he made three beautiful downfield throws tonight and had a fourth one that should have been caught by Terry Asson but he was too sharp in on the post route. Dayton could have hung 50 on those guys pretty easy...coaches took their foot off the gas somewhat there in the second half when the outcome was pretty much decided. Congrats on your second straight trip to the semi-final. One only wonders what this team would look like with 5 suspended players still on it? Dayton D getting better every week and when did Ray Lewis start coaching the tackling...they were absolutely knocking some heads tonight. That hit on the QB in the 4th QTR had to be one of the hardest hits I've ever seen.

This is the truth. Interestingly, Gilbert is actually the second highest ranked QB in the state. Somehow Cody Green is one spot higher...probably from the running ability. Can't say I agree...I don't know how this Gilbert kid is not the highest rated QB coming out of High School. This guy will play on Sundays barring some unforseen injury. This is the team that beat Dayton in the state semi's last year and yes they are that good. For those that watched the Friendswood game tonight, they run a similar offense as Friendswood but they have a better receivers, running backs, and offensive line and their QB is like Peyton Manning. He directs everything on the field out of the no huddle, is deadly accurate with a laser rocket arm, he sees the entire field, and he's big and slow. The Gilbert kid holds the single season Texas records for passing yards and touchdowns...he set that last year. Not sure where he's at this year. They had probably 80 players on last year's team and not a single player played both ways.

Dayton averages 40 as well. I wouldn't be too quick to call this game early. Will wait and see what Texas Football has to say later this week. I somehow doubt they've got the speed Brenham had or the power Livingston had and I SERIOUSLY doubt they have the offense that Travis had. We'll see...all the teams are good at this point.

Good season Jags, I figured this game would be closer than what people were saying. Hard fought to the end. Sounds like the Central D took care of business but the O and special teams left too many points out on the field. Don't throw the we got jobbed by the refs...they call what they see. It is frustrating when they make the game more about themselves then the kids who are playing it but there's nothing you can do about it. It would have been a much better match-up next week had you been able to pull it out. Central would probably play a tighter game with Travis...stout D against a GREAT offense with Central's run game controlling the clock. Good season though Jags...you deserve to pat yourselves on the back.

Hmm...I don't have a dog in the fight either but I've learned in my years that if it's who you know and not the talent then your team probably sucks. There were a bunch of rants about teachers, the supe, bad coaches, etc...when it comes to education they're really on one person responsible for it - the rest of the people are there for support or motivation. Sports are the same way...Junior may not want to be the next Earl Campbell and you sure aren't going to make him. Easier said than done I know because my kid's only 3 already I can't wait to teach him all I've learned (wait here come the cracks about that won't take long etc... we've heard them all already so skip it). Everyone wants their junior to be that next GREAT player but at some point we have to trust the people who's livelyhood depends on them putting the best people in the best position to win.
