  1. Ok, complete change of plans now. We've got the band and the cheerleaders lined up to do a small performance before the game to get the crowd fired up. Location: Grass area next to the bus circle at the Junior high Time: 5:30 We'll move the tailgate festivities over to the Junior High and start up around 4 or 4:30...depending on when the parking lot clears.
  2. I just got off the phone with the cheerleaders and they are in. If I can get the steppers and the band then we'll switch locations to the Junior High Parking Lot.
  3. Glad to see someone's booster club actually does something before the games...GL Ned.
  4. I'd have to disagree about the comment on Lake Travis "there are teams in the playoffs like Lake Travis." I'm not sure I agree with that...maybe Texas Tech, but I've never seen a high school team execute like that. Gilbert can hit a dime from 45 yards. At least 3 of those punts were in garbage time as well. I am a little worried about the defense...they didn't play all that well against Livingston, but they shut down King and Crosby. They almost seemed a little flat for most of the game against Livingston and no one really made a play until late. I would imagine that we see the typical Stewart defense again this week.
  5. This one's a toss-up...good luck to Nederland
  6. yeah I thought that at first but there's more teams later on...the defenses all seem pretty apathetic however. Not really sure this is varsity...looks more like an 8th grade team. Some of the uniforms later on though...any idea who that rust colored from head to toe team is?
  7. You would never know it by how aggressive they are in pursuing the values and revenues of those plants...hmmm
  8. Tailgate Party !! Let's show our Broncos how very proud we are of them... We get to have the 2nd round playoff game at BRONCO stadium!!!!! We now have the Cheerleaders, Steppers and the Band performing @ 5:30 at WWJH parking lot. The Tailgating will be located at the JUNIOR HIGH PARKING LOT We will begin around 4pm Friday afternoon and continue on til game time. Since this is all getting thrown together quickly we need anyone willing to HELP spread the word so please REPOST on your myspace!!!! Also, anyone willing to help us put it on please contact me via pm. We will have music and it will be a BYO food/drinks at this point. So throw your 'lil hibachi in the truck, grab a cooler, and come on out!!! Do not forget WEAR PURPLE and BRING YOUR NOISEMAKERS!! We will try and get together for face painting and just show our support for our AWESOME FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!
  9. That may be the understatement of the year...where does all the money go from the tax revenue collected from the Chemical Plants?? I know for a fact they have HUGE tax bills on a yearly basis.
  10. Hmmm...It's tough to judge any teams from the inner city HISD because they don't play anyone outside of HISD. Typically they are pretty weak...I would expect Richmond to win this game fairly handily but again it's tough to judge the HISD schools.
  11. Hmmm...none of the scouting websites show any colleges interested in Derrick Falke from Elgin High School. They also list him at 5'11" 185...no 40 times which usually means slower than 4.6. College recruits don't necessary equal to talent...they're looking for talent at the next level. A 5'10" 185 running back is not what they're looking for at the next level unless he's running 4.4 or less...doesn't mean he's not a good high school back.
  12. Alright, I'll post another thread later...but I haven't heard back from anyone at the school or DISD. Tailgate is going to go on as scheduled...corner of 146 and 90 behind the flag pole. Free parking is available and it'll be a traditional tailgate (ie you bring your own stuff). We will have music on site...I'll post another thread when we get everything finalized on the time etc...
  13. Have to agree with Bronco 1...not even sure I'd give it a JV rating. Is this even high school? See how out of position the Linebackers are during the pre-snap. Also, check the corners and notice they're not even in a good athletic position at the snap of the ball. 5'10" 180 and a 300 lbs bench...I've seen it before. 4.5 speed...not on this video.
  14. I've got it from a pretty good source that they use the spread offense and run the zone read fairly extensively like UT under vince young. I've scoured the internet but I can't find much except they don't pass very much.
  15. That's right, we are here to support them 100%. No word yet on the site but the event is coming along. Looks like we have a pit, music, and site. Food is still up in the air but sounds like everyone who's agreed to help out is on board for either location. I'll start another thread when I have more details. PM me if you've got any ideas.
  16. Just looking on paper this is absolutely correct but no one expected the Giants to win the Superbowl last year either.
  17. Ok, we may have some support from the school now and the location may get changed to the WWJH parking lot with cheerleaders, band, steppers, etc...we're still planning on the 146 and 90 location until we get something official but it sounds like the principle is on board with a "public pep rally."
  18. rollinac, where is this property located at? ??? ??? 146 and 90. There's a flagpole on the corner that's on land owned by the state. There's a lot that cuts diagonal across behind the flagpole and we've been given permission to use that land. Chapman mobile homes used to be there years ago but it's been vacant for quite some time.
  19. Alright got some news on the tailgate front. It's on private property so alcohol is legal but I got a pretty stern warning from the police chief about anyone misbehaving if there are minors around. Hence, it'll now be a byo whatever and don't cause any trouble. Also, THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO MINORS POSSESSING OR CONSUMING ANY ALCOHOL. If there are any school sponsored activities going on...ie the cheerleaders show up...then there will be no alcohol involved from anyone.
  20. Would be great to have the Cheerleaders/Booster Club/School on board. If we do we'll have to cut all the alcohol out of the "official" part of it but it is private property and as far as I know you are allowed to consume your own on private property. Still waiting on a ruling from the city on whether that's legal or not. As far as everything else, we're planning right now to just have a tailgate with no school sponsored activities but we're (we're being me thus far:) open for any ideas or suggestions. Just want to get together and get fired up before the game!!! Any ideas or suggestions are definitely welcome...perhaps someone even knows of a purple face painter.
  21. You're probably right that we are spoiled but regardless of whether we approve or not those fans have the right to voice their opinion regardless of what it is because they paid the price of admission. If they overdo it then they get escorted out...they won't escort you out for lack of class.
  22. Alright I've got a location. We've got permission to use the land right behind the flagpole at 146 and 90. It's a 4 minute walk to the stadium, you can park there, and it's private land so we can throw whatever sort of party we wish to throw. I just need help with the other items and anyone willing to donate their time. If we make this a little more official then we may get Thriftee or Brookshire to donate some of the food products. Location - 146 and HWY 90 behind the flagpole BBQ Pit - Have one but could use a bigger one Meat - I've got plenty of pork sausage and some chops...probably get a brisket or two depending on who will show Fixin's - still needed Stereo equipment - need help on this one There's always the option of throwing the old fashioned tailgate where you bring your own stuff without anything organized but that area will be open for parking free of charge...probably BYOA as well. Anyone interested? I may put out an announcement on Shine all 9 if there seems to be enough interest in organizing this...
  23. Pep Rally is one thing the school can do to get the kids fired up. For those want a little food and fun before the game...that's the tailgate. I'm thinking we may start a little bit later since most people do work on Friday. Probably around 5 or so and I'd like to get it a little closer to the stadium so everyone could walk over there. I'm open for any good sites where people could park. Anyone know someone at the bus barn?
  24. Hmmm...I didn't realize it was the "Booster" Club's job to ensure profit maximization from concessions for the band. If the "Booster" Club really felt that way then they could hold a fundraising event (like a tailgate) where all the proceeds benefit the other school activities that are going on at the game. If you want to go and stand in the line for the concession stands and miss at least a quarter then be my guest. Since it doesn't look like we'll get support from the "Booster" club we can still have our private tailgate just as the Texans, Longhorns, etc... have. I'll start planning a location, time, etc...and I'll post it later on. Probably start around 2 or 3 on Friday afternoon.
  25. I've got to agree with the Bronco Boss on that play. #52 was actually 30 yards downfield and threw a blindside block on AJ Dugat while the ball was in the air at the 42 yard line RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD. I still find it hard to believe that a team can run the ball 52 times and not have a holding call.
