  1. Looks like they may be reloading a bit, based on what I see of their early season record on MaxPreps. I know they were a upper classmen heavy bunch last year. I am anxious to see how they are progressing this year as well.
  2. Will be a good six game test for Coach Sanders' young Lady Raider squad. It was a very competitive tournament last year, and with two Top 20 5A programs in the tournament this year, I expect the same or more out of this one.
  3. 2018 Navasota Rattler Shootout Classic Teams: (#10) 5A Austin Crockett, (#20) 5A Waller, 4A Navasota, 4A Hillsboro, 5A Cedar Creek, 6A LaPorte, 4A Lumberton Thurs Nov 29, 2018 09:00 Waller vs Navasota 10:30 Hillsboro vs Cedar Creek 12:00 Austin Crockett vs Waller 1:30 LaPorte vs Lumberton 3:00 Cedar Creek vs Austin Crockett 4:30 Navasota vs LaPorte 6:00 Lumberton vs Hillsboro Fri Nov 30, 2018 9:00 Lumberton vs Navasota 10:30 LaPorte vs Cedar Creek 12:00 Austin Crockett vs Hillsboro 1:30 Waller vs Lumberton 3:00 Navasota vs Austin Crockett 4:30 Hillsboro vs LaPorte 6:00 Cedar Creek vs Waller Fri Nov 30, 2018 9:00 Cedar Creek vs Navasota 0900 Austin Crockett vs Lumberton (Aux Gym) 1030 Hillsboro vs Waller 12:00 LaPorte vs Austin Crockett (Aux Gym) 12:00 Lumberton vs Cedar Creek 1:30 Navasota vs Hillsboro 3:00 Waller vs LaPorte
  4. Final Lumberton 72 Huffman 59 Chippy, physical game as expected.
  5. As I watched the game live, I agree Alpha, the SheWolves could work on their press break. I know it is sometimes difficult to "practice" press break, since it always seems to be a little different level of intensity in practice, than when the "the lights are on". SheWolves have the size, speed, and strength to handle it, just need a little more in-game experience, imo. They have nice size and strength throughout the roster, and this just in, #15 is really a NICE player, lol. In watching Ozen the last couple seasons, #12 always seems to be making whatever play is needed, be it offense or defense. Coach Brown always has her ladies operating at a high level. Maybe the only thing else you would like to see is a little more outside shooting, to open it up even more for #15?? Just what I saw, of course. Silsbee ladies played very hard and fast, the overall size and strength of United did seem to have an effect on Silsbee's execution at times. That being said, the teams in 22-4a don't have anything near the roster that United has, except maybe that team in Sour Lake. Of course, that's why they play the games, right? Silsbee too will benefit from the pre-district play, in terms of getting their press break and their press up to speed. Will be fun to watch the district play unfold. It was really fun to attend the game and feel the energy that was in the gym. Good luck to both programs and hope all the young ladies continue to work hard and have good seasons.
  6. Should be a good one. Hope to go watch it with my daughter and a couple of friends.
  7. Just a thought, Orangefield lost to Silsbee by single digits earlier in the week. One Chance has spoken of Orangefield's overall strong guard play. Think this is gonna be key when teams play against Silsbee. If you don't have a good guard rotation, you may be in for a long night.
  8. Nice job Orangfield ladies. Yes their guard play is very good. A lot of good things start with solid ball handlers.
  9. Lumberton down 43-38 after 3rd qtr. The ladies really buckled down and played for each other and with a lot of unselfish play and effort, they got over the hump at the end. East Chambers ladies played very hard the whole game, there defensive effort was tough the whole game.
  10. I think it was 52-8 at halftime when we left . 20 pts allowed in the second half by the Lady Hawks, there may need to be some extra running needed in practice, lol. On a serious note, it was a very emotional moment seeing the tribute to Alix Neel. As a father, I can't even begin to comprehend something as tragic as what the family is dealing with. My prayers to them.
  11. Alpha, i did not see Coach Brown, thought i saw Crosby coaches. Texas City has length, but i think United should be able to control game, especially with Big Ash in the post. Just my opinion of course. Lumberton missed shots and Texas City was very good on team free throws.
  12. Hey no problem, thanks for responding Cat22. Again, good luck the rest of the season.
  13. Looks like it was a close competitive game by the score. If I may ask you a question Cat22, based on the score, it appears Orangefield was able to somewhat control the pace of the game and work some half court offense? I know Silsbee likes to get up and down the court, was just interested how Orangefield dealt with that. Was also curious if Silsbee was scoring in transition primarily, or were the getting it done in the half court as well. I know they have a strong group over there in Silsbee. Good luck to Orangefield as the season progresses, I like the way the young ladies play, lot of heart and effort.
  14. Final Lumberton 65 Cleveland 49 Cleveland coach made some nice adjustments from this weekend's game and had her ladies in position to make plays which they did, which improved their scoring. Lumberton had balanced scoring from the guards and good scoring from post as well. They missed a number of good looks, but played at a good pace overall.
