Congrats to 19-4a several time all-dist and 2011 19-4a mvp in football(signed w/SMU)state qualifier in powerlifting and a honor student-Darrian Wright.Wishing you a successful career and looking forward to see you play again on saturday's.Your hard work ethics,grades,genuine great attitude will guide others to follow.For a coach to say he's 1 of the best they've ever coached says a mouthful.Darrian is cousin to Brenham wr standout(signed w/Tx.Tech)Derek Edwards and the pair competed against ea.other in the deep playoff runs twice w/1 win each.Best Wishes to both.

Bay side -west bank about 30 yds north of the bridge.I hear ya as alot of times it's hit n miss but when it's on it's great.Anyday now the surf should be filling up w/shrimp near shore and the trout will push them in shallow water then run in and grab a mouthful.Last yr. a good friend went wade fishing and w/his 1st cast w/cast net for bait up came about 1 qt.of jumbo shrimp near the old High Island pier.What a day w/limit of both trout n shrimp very quickly.Keep a close eye on the shallow shrimp boats soon then it's on.

Fished rollover yesterday and a few nice reds and blk.drum were landed in the evening and a few trout after dark until the tide changed to high and the water cleared @ 11:00 pm then fishing got alot better as the wee hrs before daylight I prolly caught 50 trout retaining a limit of 10 specks to 4 lbs.add in about 20 nice sand trout.I fished w/glow plastics under 2-1,000 watt stage lights and my 3 friends from Baytown limited out on specks w/a cpl.nice reds fishing the edges of my lights.It was a tuff drive home yawning @ 6:30 this morning and we left them biting.Surf was not flat but wadeable w/sandy green water.

Both pat blks. were from missed blocking assignments from the edges.FG went a tad wide from 37 yds.out but still goes on the kickers record and similar to a catchable pass thru the rec.hands for a int.goes against the qb.

In this the young upcoming jr.year Dayton kicker Juan Carranco (all-dist-all SETX 2010 kicker)has excited faithful w/his accuracy under pressure .As a freshmen 60-60 pats 9-9 fgs to 43 yds=100%-Soph.results 60-62 pats(2 blkd.)8-9 fgs to 44 yds.Pre-game putting 50 yd kicks thru the uprights w/extra air w/avg.40+ punting yds avg.Career totals 174 points w/2 more years left on a team shooting for it's 16 straight playoff appearance in as many years.Setting the bar to break the records of both his unanimous all-dist kickers the Carranco brothers from the past.Good luck to Juan.

Anahuac Park pier can get hot any time now.Fished there alot @ night under those lights in the past before and have had good success on flounder w/a speck now and then.Sunday there was virtually no bait to be caught in a 5' cast net before launching the boat.And they've built a brand new short pier w/a T-head just a short distance past the boat ramps on the same side as the old one but it's not lighted.Depthfinder showed some 8' water depth just a short casting distance out past the t-head ;)

Seems this time of year it's hit or miss.Saturday some friends had good success on reds,specks,flounder fishing out of Ft.Anahuac park near the mouth and up river in the numerous bayou's.Sunday we went there and saw my friends fishing along w/30 other scattered boats and fish were scarce for everybody.My only good strike came on a live shrimp freelined in 7' of water in long island bayou but after a tug of war the big fish straightened out the snap on a 45# walmart(China)blk.steel leader.Live shrimp are scarce @bait camps and the few on hand are very lg.gulf shrimp(eating size)but was only able to buy a pint of live@$9.00 >:(

Congrats to Fred Ford once again,just icing on the cake and yet put on the HS uniform for another game.A chance in a lifetime to go watch if you have not seen him play ;)

Congrads-Ooh-Rah and have a great career DD to DD Sarge you and yours can be proud as are we of Bruce's accomplishments on and off the playing field.Met him 1 time @ a practice last year and one of the most polite young men I've had the pleasure to confer with ;)

Would be good if a % of the $ revenues are shared among schools.Shows you just how much they've already considered the idea before hand.I could see some schools getting a quick return possibly on their muti-million dollar hs stadiums under construction currently like Allen ISD and others but would not count my chickens just yet.

Went to Rollover monday a.m @ daybreak water muddy east wind 15 and gusting and tide way out.Not a soul fishing but 1 tent set up w/generator and floodlights from the night before.Left and drove down to Bolivar near the ferry landing and threw arty's catching 3 flounder on limetreuse shad assassins.Only 1 of those a 15" legal fish.Saw some reds tailing out of casting range of a 6" spook while almost spooling my curado to reach them.Did not dare try wading as that area is real close to the channel and the wash from all the ship traffic was very strong.Actually saw the water being pulled out of 2 big steel pipes bout 10' in diameter below a damaged bridge when the tide was coming into this small cut.Took the ferry to galveston where the water was greener but saw very little action on the rock groins and the 61st st.pier looking thru bino's.Decided just wasn't a day for fishing so shopping I went looking for those hard to find corkies.

Prolly not the end of HS Sports but bet there'll be a stop to multi-million dollar stadiums and giant instant replay scoreboards.Oh yeah get ready ticket prices will be going up w/concessions to a event near you along w/more saturday day games(lower the elect.bill) ;)

Lawd it's only a scrimmage but in recent years there were 10 times more Bronco fans attending this practice game.Last scimmage you could put all the Stang fans in 1 school bus.It was a good glorified practice for a few years and had no bearing,carried no weight but was hard hitting and entertaining ;)

Smokin baby's gonna caddy for Liltex for 18 holes carrying a pro bag w/14 clubs and a full ice cooler while I teach him how to make a real eagle @ Eagle Point.Got him pink silk caddy windbreaker in the Heights that says Guess and emerald green knee knockers that read 19th hole ;D

Launched @ Anahuac Wildlfe Refruge East Bay boat ramp 6:30 am found lots of mullet near the salt cedars/frozen point area but could not find a bite.Moved to little pasture bayou and anchored near the channel.First cast w/a free lined (crayfish bout 4" out of my property drain ditch) and my all star rod/garcia reel sprung into action.After a draggging contest my oldest son put her in the net.A nice Sheepshead that measured 22.50 in.in the 13-14 lb range.Looked up current record 10/02 it is 26.50"15.25 lbs.Released her as full of eggs.Hour later moved close to ICW near rollover in 3' water and we limited out on black drum in an hour on free lined crayfish(crawfish)from 16-18".Never got bit by anything else all day.I'll say I can't wait to get on a school of trout/reds w/crawfish under a popping cork so much cheaper than live shrimp.

Spoke w/a bass fisher @ Academy in Bmt. yesterday as he grabbed the last 2-1/4 oz.gold/blue back strike king red eye crankbaits(shad)style.Said last weekend won a tournament on em and caught so many they knocked the paint from them in 6-8 feet water near the dam(lower end).
