Trinity river @I-10-Lost Lake,Lake Charotte north up the river a small channel on the east bank leads in to it.Just a little way up the creek there's a large steel pipe 24"cut off at the edge of the ea.channel w/a sm.amount of water dripping out prolly condensation, keep traveling east into the mouth of lake Charolette.Up river there's a channel to the left called Pickett's Bayou that leads in to the Champion lake area.Further up river the biggest channel leads in to the Sulphur Cut.Up the cut you'll find another creek channel on the north side that leads into another big shallow lake(could be lake miller but not sure) .In the far reaches of the sulphur cut(old sulphur plant docks closed for years)you'll see many pilings and old docks.Note down river I-10 you can get to Long Island Bayou and the saltwater barrier. This time of year the catfish stage here and all in the marsh.I like to launch @ Ft.Anahuac Park boat ramp and go up river.Just a little ways up river there's a cut off the east bank up into the Lake Anahuac discharge canal. When releasing water from the lake thru the lg.pipes the fishing is fantastic and some deep water near the pilings.Caught blue cats to 21#s there using slip cork w/fresh shad.No boat-no problem go downtown to the right by the canal and down the hill, park and fish.Crappie good on minnows too.Fish there alot but lot of tree snags down deep and you will lose some tackle on bottom.Good fishin ;)

I've carefully fished in a sm.outboard boat both shallow lakes(watch tide) and caught crappie, catfish, bass, goo, flounder & reds in the same trip.I've never had the nads to Kayak those gator/moccasin/skeeter infested waters.Go up river from I-10 to the 1st big cut in the river on the right side-called the sulphur cut(you can get a big bass boat up in there). Some deeper water there and pretty good fishin spot.Check out the underwater point off the river on the way in to the mouth on the north side of the cut.If your fishfinder shows symbols there you can mop up some nice crappie there w/minnows.Ps there's gators longer than the biggest Yak you ever seen. The deeper you go the more gators ya see.Last trip my wife went up there w/me and i headed the boat to the bank for her to p and she p'd her pants & she never asked to go again.

No worries Coach Stewart is surrounded by good coaches and whoever is named HC will have all my support whoever is chosen.Coach Lawney has been w/Stewart thru several school programs over the years so it would not surprize me if he were named but only speculating@this time 8)

That's a darn good list guys, job well done.Congrads to all the players listed. -
Go up the lake north of pendeleton bridge in Jan.to a place off the river channel called the chicken coop. There will be pontoon boats w/lights @ night that looks like a freight train w/cars catching crappie(wh.perch)until wore out suspended in 30' water @ normal levels.Bass-find some green hydrilla on humps close to a creek channel and BINGO throw a white buzzbait w/slow retrieve then short bursts and don't watch, wait till you feel the fish then hook up.A friend and I caught a 5 fish stringer 2nd week of Jan.in a Anglers Choice tourney that weighed 26.39 pounds on white buzzbaits a number of years ago just less than 1 mi north of the Pendelton bridge on the Tex.side of the lake.

The debate could go on for awhile so just ask anybody over 65 in the Liberty Co.area as they still talk about Sterling Griffin.I don't know where his newspaper scrapbook went but remember reading pages on top of pages of clippings of 3-7 tds.per game.Even Dayton RB football greats the late E.B.White & judge Glenn Pruitt talked about him many times. And yes he won over 20 golf touraments and was a golf pro @ 3 differant golf courses.Held the record @ Magnolia Ridge CC in Liberty for years w/6 under par on 9 holes verified by Whit Daniels & Coots Matthews of Boots N Coots oilwell fighters. His health is not well @ 82 at this time but @ 79 he could still shoot his age on 18 holes most days 8) -

Late 40's-Sterling Griffin who went to Lamar & played on the team w/Bum Phillips before transferring to Baylor w/Jr.Gajdosik from Dayton. -
Love my Benelli Nova pump 12 ga. so far best I've ever owned and fired.Recoil is light and is well balanced.Mine is chambered for rounds to 3 1/2" and w/00 mag buckshot -deer/wild hogs to 200#'s have went down almost in their tracks @40 yds.I have a 870 remington as well and love it.Can't go wrong w/either but can't beat the price and dependability of the remington.Check around and be patient as I bought my Benelli for $275.00 @ a local pawn shop 1 yr.ago and it was near mint cond.

Best Running Back in Texas, if not Nationally

We have 1 more year to watch Gray before our ticket prices soar into the hundreds.Barring injuries this kid will be a millionaire in the near future.Already busting records and 2 state titles w/over 600 yds combined as a soph/jr in those against the best ;) -
David vs.Goliath match-up-Congrads to Pearland and sorry we left @ halftime but my arse couldn't take another minute of any game.Cowboy stadium is nice but it's a maze to get around in and I wouldn't want to have to exit the building in a hurry. We listened to the game as far as the am station would carry it thru the airwaves driving home.

Coogs played well in the 1st half and Congrads on a very great season. The better team won and played a near perfect game.Gray is a stud as is Wright but that reciever for Aledo caught every catchable pass thrown and I was impressed by Aledo's size/speed.Jonathan Gray is the best junior I've ever seen hands down.I was thinking of what kind of game he'd have returning kick-offs.1 of the best 5 games for 2 qtrs.
-
Congrads to Coldsprings on a very special season.Carthage recievers wide open all day was the differance and perfect thrown passes in stride.I enjoyed the game and have nothing negative to say about the game.Only negative concession prices-$36.00 for 2 burgers w/fries w/no l-t-o-p & $9.00 for ultimate nachos 8) ::) ::)

Texas APSE Class 4A all-state football team
liltex replied to broussardm's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just like last year the voters are not gonna give a fresh/soph kicker the props for all-state team.Last year it was the senior kicker from Angleton.Carranco will make it prolly next year and the leg is getting stronger every year.Deserving yes but it's not gonna happen @ least or another year.I have posted his career stats w/DCTF staff.
