Derek Edwards-Brenham and Darrin Wright-Dayton have another thing in common - both are related by a recent marriage of aunt/uncle
-
Hope they rebound soon w/a little more passing thrown in.
-
Vidor graduated over 2/3 of the varsity-33 seniors-10 juniors ret.as seniors+add the JV.
-
No dog in this one but Vidor graduated 33 seniors and 10 return from the varsity roster that does not have 1 single soph/fresh on it so the Pirates return w/less than 2/3 of the entire team to add to last years JV.With the success recently @ Kirbyville I'd give the edge to the Wildcats.

"TILT"Read again-Central my pick :D

Bronco faithful were commenting on how they could compete in the district w/the Golden Triangle a few years ago and they were impressive winning the dist.title both years in convincing fashion then reaching the semi-finals w/a Katrina transfer qb in 07-followed by 08 finals record scoring tot.117 points for a 4A gm.in the Alamodome amid a sea of purple screaming faithful then in 09 came within the last 4 min.almost beating Brenham in the quarter-finals to 3 peat another semi-final game and play once again Kerrville Tivy team seeking revenge from the year before.Only Lake Travis-Sulphur Springs-Brenham-2 state champs and state finalist closed the door the Broncos knocked at 3 times.

I see alot closer district games than last year. While 43 seniors graduated from PNG leaving them w/18 srs.returning and some holes to fill they doubtfully go undefeated but make another year of playoffs.I said it last year PNG was better than the record showed the year before last because of that core group who were 43 jrs.but lacking some leadership they now have w/coaching staff.Defense wins championships and that's been for the most part over several years Central my pick-PNG-LCM-Nederland-Lumberton who returns 17 seniors this yr.

If re-alignment had put Lee in 20-4A they might possibly get 5th place-I got em 3rd in 19-4A just because an off year for CE King.
-
You're probably correct about the order and it is a tall order ahead to play 5 playoff teams w/14 seniors.
-
Dayton Broncos pre-dist schedule-Scrimmage 1 WOS-Scrimmage 2 Nederland-Gm 1 Aldine Eisenhower 5A bi-dist finalist-Gm.2 Angleton 4A reg.finalist-Gm.3 5A Ft.Bend Elkins bi-dist finalist.In school history never played teams of this caliber.Eisenhower lost in bi-dist to Hou.Lamar 28-14 Elkins lost in bi-dist to Clear Springs 28-26

Give Vidor a break, they are moving in the right direction trying to play bigger schools pre-season to evaluate their program/kids.They have a great HC and hopefully they'll develop a passing game soon enough to make a run for the district title that eluded them last year for the lack of a significant air attack.Comments about the community have no merit and is scuttlebutt. The very large talented Pirate band along with a talented football team was impressive and I hope success continues for the program.

6'2 280 lb.all dist as jr.defensive tackle/nose guard Darrin Wright-Dayton has gotten letters from Texas,TCU,offered scholarships @ Nevada,SMU.The latter he has already visited the campus.

The Broncos roster from last year shows 14 juniors returning for their senior year. That's 5 less than the 19 in 2009 and 7 less than the 2008 team. The weight room has been impressive and electric the 5 times I witnessed thus far and w/regional qualify powerlifting and track atheletes of which the latter set the school record all-time in the 4 x100 and 4 x200 relay and exp.soph WR J.Fowler setting the all school record in recieving/tds/yds per catch for a soph. and a starting soph.QB A.Herrera throwing for 1,400 yds.& 60% in the games after the loss to Crosby and 9th grade kicking specialist w/100% accuracy and a longest 44 yd.field goal vs.El Campo & 84 points and a cpl.D1 linemen returning & given the Coaching and work ethic along w/14 straight playoff appearances the young speedy Broncos look to continue the tradition w/a combination of exp.skilled players w/deep playoff exp.+ underclassmen that were combined 17-3(JV/Fresh)last year.Certainly the 4 tuff pre-dist.sch.will get em ready for their turn @ Dayton. The Crosby/Dayton game will be 1 of the most anticipated games in the dist.Folks I know from Crosby are excited about their returning team as well so mark your calendars.

Congradulations and may you have a great career there.

After a semi-final,final,quarterfinal run in which the Dayton Broncos led state finalist Brenham for 3 3/4 quarters I'd have to think they have a legit program in place to make another run.Certainly the super tough early schedule should have them fine tuned to start district barring any significant early injuries. -
On another note for all bronco faithful again several upcoming seniors getting some scouts eyes and defensive all-dist tackle Darrin Wright #65 a senior this coming year and the overall most improved def.player from his soph-junior year has gotten many letters of interest but in the past week was offered the full deal @SMU heard from relative and very knowlegable DHS source.Congradulations to Darrin an outstanding student on and off the field.I'm sure many more offers will be in the making as he has been putting in the work up to and including doing very well in powerlifting.Again thanks to all the Dayton coaching staff under Stewart's program that's putting Dayton on the list for recruiting like never before because of their success more especially the past 3 yrs.w/a semi-final,final,quarter-final run that was impressive.Always Believe

Residents Report TPWD Releasing Black Bear-Panthers-Cougars
liltex replied to liltex's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Nope.Till I see an alien alive or dead they are a myth.Surrounded by the Big Thicket nearby we have many wild things. In the mid 60's a teen friend of mine nearly lost his leg from a bite from what looked to be a copperhead w/2 legs inches behind the head. The snake I killed and took w/us to the hospital where Dr.E.R. Richter in amazement said I though it was a myth that I'd heard about-the snake is a Pilot Rattlesnake equipped to travel in water.Within 30 min. Jr.Eaton's lower leg was turning black and swollen double. But he recovered fine w/copperhead antidote serum admin.by the doctor.TPW wardens had most of the poisonious snakes recently @ YMCA in Kingwood,Tx on display.Missing the above pilot rattlesnake, pigmy(ground Rattler)and last but not least the stump tail moccasin that they say we don't have but 1 moccasin-the cottonmouth which you almost have to step on or be close by to be bitten.Stump tails are aggressive and will go out of their way to bite you and some over 6' have been killed. My neighbor killed one cutting of the head w/a brush axe and an hour later a friend did not believe the head was big as a fist so he picked up the head by the 2" of flesh attached and the head bit his hand-he lost his thumb and forefinger and can no longer work on oilwell workover rigs.I guess what I'm saying in essence don't believe alot of what state or gov.wants you to.But if you can share truthful info for dummies. With all the immigrants becoming US citizens I pray we never have a 2 step charlie (bamboo viper) invade the switch cane thickets. So maybe we should post under Believe it or Not category. Some of you still buy the hunting magazines that's shown the same big buck on the cover for over 20 years w/only the background altered. -
Between Moss Hill/Batson nearby neighbors are talking of Game Officials relocating above animals into a very large acreage Arizona Creek property.Reports of 3 pair Black Bear along w/a pair of 2 differant pair of large wildcats to restock the area and protect them.Rumors are said that all released animals have monitors/tracking devices attached to track their movements.I was told a number of years ago a similar story about Timber Rattlesnakes(Canebrake Rattler)also being released.Don't know if it's true but many large rattlers over 6' have since been spotted nearby and several casualties to road kill.Near our place I know of several dozen less rattlers.I'm told they're on the endangered species list-yet via the internet says an adult canebrake rattler 90% of the time can be fatal to an adult if treatment is not close at hand.My question is:With nearby area hospital closings in our area will you take the chance?According to biblical writings concerning serpents they will crawl on their bellies and be damned by mankind.Back to the topic we have very few wild rabbits left in the area as it is because of the abundance of a already overpopulated group of coyotes, fox, bobcats along w/several sightings of large wildcats.History nearby tells of Indians hunting Bear many years ago just west of the Trinity River near Davis Hill, area near Tarkington/Macedonia.I guess my question then is;If a TPWD monitored wild animal damages property owned by a taxpaying resident please give us the address to send the bill for the damage.Already paid 2,400.00 dollars to repair 2004 GMC canyon damaged by none other than a mad buck deer than ran up tothe highway, stopped momentarily as I slowed to avoid contact then it lowered his head w/nice rack and charged striking both drivers side left doors, over the top denting it in, cleared to the other side then drove its horns into the rear quarter panel and darted off into the woods near Saratoga.2 other passengers incl.myself were in dismay and could not believe it-but it did happen. We were informed by a polite hiway patrolmen that had the deer expired-we could not retrieve it for food as it belonged to the state of Texas.

You cannot express enuff the job well done by the entire Dayton coaching staff over 14 years and I expect many more as many have recently bought or built new homes within shouting distance from Bronco Stadium or the high school including Coach Stewart. Many like myself marvel and wish we could have played under his staff.Yes Dayton had the atheletes lots of times but to be perfectly honest many played in the wrong position and everbody knew we were going to run, run, run and rarely throw. The 69 team had alot of talent but lacked a great passing attack and went undefeated and caught a huge talented Lufkin Dunbar team right out the gate and came close to winning that game. You can list many 1,000 yd.rushers to pass thru Broncoland but just a few QB'S ever threw for over 1000 yds.Dayton before the Stewart era was basically Defense oriented to cause turnovers then control the clock w/ rushing. The RB/Special teams guy that comes to mind to me before the Stewart era has always been the speedy slashing changing direction Kenny Roberts a little guy- like A.J that was a game breaker everytime he touched the pigskin with alot smaller linemen both ways.Cody Green set the bar for QB @ Dayton all time.Always Believe #15 yrs.in a row will be another stellar year.More record breakers and more Bronco faithful.Excitement has never been so anticipated in our youth as well as us oldtimers.I believe it won't be long till we see another former Bronco playing on Sunday. To my knowledge Billy Bell(K.C-Houston) has been the only one. That just proves how hard this game is to make a living out of playing football. -
No spring training.Wouldn't get to excited bout the Crosby game cause they're gonna be a front runner if they stay healthy the way I see it.Should be a great game though and winnable possibly-just not a payback shellacing.

Overall the team looks to be pretty solid as many returning players are getting bigger and stronger.D Wright is powerlifting 450 and is getting amazingly stronger and will be a man among boys come game 0.A few will play some both ways and I'd bet the ranch on a 15th straight playoff spot.Been watching the weight room and seeing alot of leadership and some surprizes in growth and strength.A little concerned how well A Herrera's slight shoulder injury is healing.Happened in sports after football but I'm told he's doing well, nothing serious.
