24-1A DII DISTRICT PLAYOFF GAMES SET
bigbasketballfan replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I totally agree with WordMan2 on both games. The only thing is I think the spread might be a tad more. -
24-1A DII DISTRICT PLAYOFF GAMES SET
bigbasketballfan replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Those that can come, really need to come as both of these games will be good. The Leggett-Goodrich game on a neutral floor will be interesting. I will see you all there. -
Any news on 24-1A-II playoffs for District?
bigbasketballfan replied to 6thman's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Curious minds want to know huh? The talking heads started meeting at 11am. I've been bird dogging the "BURKEVILLE,SPURGER,LEGGETT,GOODRICH.... WHO WILL GO??" string below all day. This will be fun. -
I just flipped my coin & called "Heads". Spurger in a close, hard fought, win or go home game by 4.

Potential Chaos Looming for District 24-1A DII
bigbasketballfan replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The Spy, in my opinion, you just maybe right. Spurger will need to play like there is no tomorrow as this appears to be the case. If there is a four way tie, each of these teams can only blame themselves for this unusual situation. -
Potential Chaos Looming for District 24-1A DII

A four-way tourney? Like you, The Spy, I do not know what that would look like. One or more would be very upset about that I would think. And that other thing would be, when and where? This is something that you just do not see very often that is for sure. -
Goodrich @ Burkeville
bigbasketballfan replied to Mustang Basketball's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Burkeville lost to Goodrich at Goodrich by 29. I do not think that with this game being in Burkeville will matter that much, but for grins I will say Goodrich by 20. -
Yep, Spurger put 79 on Chester. The starting five played the entire first quarter and then the second string went in. Only one starter stayed in at a time just to guide the second string along. In fact, Spurger imposed a 5 pass minimum before any shot and no player could make two baskets in a row. It is hard to tell a player that has worked hard to not score, so they will still score. The only hope that a coach would have is that the scoring will be limited or damped some. Yep, Spurger still put 79 on Chester. I was not at the Goodrich ot Leggett games with Chester, but I appears to me that those two teams set out to put 100+ on a under-manned, under-skilled team. Having watched Chester play this year, they never gave up and played hard till the buzzer. My tip my hat to them.

Glad to see that Goodrich showed restraint and sportsmanship in this game. Must have been hard to hold back running up the score on an obviously weaker team. Let's see Goodrich run up the score and bust 100 points against a team that has more than 5 or 6 players and that those 5 or 6 are upperclassmen. Too bad we didn't see the REAL Goodrich against teams liket Leggett, Spurger, Burkeville or any team that they may face in the playoffs.

True Blue, they will not let you sit behind the bench. The visitors must sit in the bleachers on the opposite side, while the home fans get the seats behind the benches. You will notice the people that stand directly behind the visitor bench and say all kinds of foul mess. I assure you, you have not seen anything like it before. Keep an eye on the Leggett coach as he is as bad or worse than the fans. My suggestion is that Evadale trys to rise above it and keep cool as this is what they live for.

For True Blue. Not up to date on my curseology, thus I am not sure what "%^%$" means, but Redhorse was what that community was refered to as there was a sign that had a red horse on it. Some still like to refer to Leggett as Redhorse for old time sake I guess. I am sure that Catman would or could elaborate more and correct me if I am in error.

Evadale @ Leggett Who Will Win
bigbasketballfan replied to CATMAN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Evadale if they can shut up the Leggett coach and home crowd. They should be able to match up well with Leggett, but it is all of the other that could derail Evadale. Evadale needs to bring a crowd with them and be not afraid to throw mess back at them. Evadale by 4 -
This is for 6thman. I went to the UIL Athletics page ([Hidden Content]) and there is contact information on the left hand side of that page. I would start there. I suspect that diving off into that pool will be like most other dealings with schools. Maybe someone else could chime in here, but I have found that anytime you deal with a governmental entity, you will drown in red tape and policy. Your concern will most likely die a slow death. Good luck.

Like Abraham, I will go with Redhorse. DimeBack Darrel, it may not neccessarily be the building, as it is not always the building that makes the gym. In my opinion, it is what is on the home bench and home seats that makes this the worst gym in SETX.

Catman, I agree with you that it would be interesting to see how those folks from Evadale deal with the behavior on display in Redhorse. I will be looking for the comments about how wonderful it is for the coaches and fan to use vulgar language towards the players & fans, especially when it becomes racial. Once that tread (Evadale vs Leggett) gets started, I expect to see how others think this will turn out.

In a tough fought game, Spurger by 4.
